Probably the best site we have ever visited.
A very warm welcome from the owner. Beautifully maintained field & Well organised site, Excellent recycling area. Great water pressure for filling water tubs! Spotlessly clean facilities, Nice hot showers (we didn't use our own all weekend). Ideal location, Value for money. No complaints whatsoever!
We will definitely return & recommend Cracken House Farm.
The views are stunning, we didn't want to leave.
Keep up the good work guys :) & love to George!

What can I say, if you are looking for peace, tranquillity, great views and a warm welcome look no further as you won't be disappointed.
We arrived on a Friday afternoon and what struck me first was how immaculate the site was, the grass was cut to perfection and everything looked so well maintained. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble.
The site is set in a lovely location, away from the road but only a 15 minute walk into Leyburn.
There are lots of nice walks direct from the site which makes it perfect for dogs. Leyburn has everything you would need, shops, pubs, take aways etc.
As mentioned in other reviews, yes the facilities are basic but adequate and most importantly spotless and they were never very busy despite the site been full.
All in all this is a great site and I would highly recommend it and will certainly be returning.

We have been coming to this wonderful site for over 20 years. Why? The view is absolutely amazing. The welcome from firstly Marjorie and Glynn then more recently Richard and Lynn is always warm and friendly- plenty of time for chatting and catching up on families and holidays! The facilities are spotless and although only 1 shower and 2 toilets for women and the same for gents, we have only rarely queued. The pitches are large, well spaced and the grass is gorgeous to walk on in bare feet!
Leyburn, with its shops and pubs is a delightful market town, is about a mile away and, with binoculars you can even sit in the caravan and watch the racehorses train on Middleham Moor! Although there are no specific facilities for children, the centre of the top field is ideal for ball games etc. The bottom field has a stream, ideal for paddling.
We would recommend this site for all age groups and units. You will not be disappointed!

The best site I have been to!As close to rural camping as we have ever got (Pitch 25). Lovely stream at the side which we kept our pop in. Horses in one field, cows in another. Great for kids. Lovely owners, very helpful! The facilities were clean and well kept. Short driving distance to forbidden corner which is a must if you have kids. Cut through walk to Leyburn to avoid the busy road.
Will be going back and recommended to all my friends!

We have just returned home after a wonderful visit to Wensleydale, Staying 3 nights at Craken House Farm. There are not sufficient superlatives to describe this blissful spot.
The views from the campsite are fantastic, only 2 miles from the majestic Middleham Castle, the white flag of which, could be seen from our pitch. The surrounding area is brilliant for cycling and walking. We were very lucky indeed to be able to stay for The 1940's Vintage weekend in Leyburn. A brilliantly organised event, with lots of entertainment and stalls.
The facilities of this site were first class: spotlessly clean toilets and shower, plus useful utility area.
We were very pleased to get into this Fabulous site. The owner answered our email enquiry extremely quickly
And when we arrived his wife was extremely friendly and helpful.
They made our visit. They are enthusiastic and engaging people who made us feel like ' honoured guests' at their home, rather than campers on their land.
We can't recommend this site highly enough.
We were very lucky with fantastic weather, but whatever the weather conditions, I am sure Richard and Lynn would extend a warm welcome to all.
We look forward very much to returning to this tranquil site.
Monty ( our Dog) enjoyed it very much too!
Helen and Richard Barcan.

We have just had a excellent 3 night stay at this site the weather was perfect if not a little to hot.
The site was in a lovely quite location with pretty views across the Yorkshire Dales with large pitches we had loads of room between us and our neighbouring campers, the toilets and showers were always really clean and the showers (Which were free) were really powerful with lots of hot water, there was also a good utility room with 2 pot washing sinks, 1 sink to wash cloths, dryer and a fridge also there was a little garden area with picnic benches and a little summer house full of leaflets and books with 2 chairs to sit and enjoy the views.
The site was in a good location as it was only about a 20 minute walk or 2 minute drive into Leyburn witch had quite a few shops, pubs and takeaways
The owners of the site were really friendly and made us feel really welcome, the welcome leaflet was really good with lots of information on local attractions and amenities, the only slight downside I would have about the site was there was only 2 showers (one for each gender) but we have heard that the owners are going to add more showers so with that in mind I have no negatives about the site and cannot wait to go back and see George the Goose who was a character and I wanted to bring him home.
Overall 10/10 and would recommend this site to anyone as it's EXCELLENT VALUE at only £16. 00 per night with electric.

Thanks very much to Cracken House for a fantastic stay. Very welcoming, very clean site. The owner was extremely friendly. Informed us of lots of activities and places of local interest. The price was very affordable. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be definitely be returning with more guests. The resident goose was delightful and being surrounded by cows sheep and horses at a safe distance will be loved by children of all ages. Thanks again x

We stayed here for a few days to relax and I must say this is the perfect site. It is so beautiful and peaceful. The toilets/showers/utility rooms were spotless with constant hot water. The welcome from the owner was very friendly and welcoming and he was around now and again with advice on walks etc. We left our motorhome and walked into Leyburn every day and used the regular bus network to Aysgarth and Hawes. Lovely way to see the countryside. But there are many walks around the site and from Leyburn too. Leyburn has everything you need. Wonderful holiday!

We have just returned from a few nights break at this excellent camping site. I cannot praise the site enough. The owners are very helpful and friendly. The site is very well kept. The toilet and showers are always very clean. The views from the campsite are beautiful. Leyburn is within walking distance. It has got to be one of the best, if not the best site we have ever visited. Cannot wait to return. A Credit to the owners.

Stayed here over the bank holiday with 2 other families. What a lovely site. 2 fields, one very flat that seemed to be mainly for caravans and another slightly sloping with a stream running through it. We stayed here and it was fine. Our five children between us loved the stream.
The welcome we received was excellent. If coming don't follow sat nav as it takes you to an old entrance down a very small country lane. We did this but were miraculously rescued by the owner who guided us to the proper entrance.
There are limited facilities on the site- no shop and a small no of showers and toilets but we didn't seem to wait at all and they were spotless.
The site itself was one of the most picturesque we have been to with an assortment of animals around- a goose, horses, cows and hens. Our children were well entertained running around, playing in the stream and looking at the animals.
We have been to many sites with lots of rules and regulations but this site was very laid back, enjoying yourself the main goal. We put up a gazebo to eat in and had a BBQ- neither was an issue.
The surrounding area was lovely, we visited Aysgarth falls and the forbidden corner. It is an easy 10 minute walk into Leyburn which has several pubs, restaurants and shops.
I am now looking to book again in the summer.
