We stayed hear over Easter. I assume the shower blocks have all been redone as they were exceptionally clean. 20p for a shower but it lasted more than long enough t get washed, and shampoo and condition my shoulder length hair, so can't grumble. Only problem was that the shower and toilets are connected, so if someone flushes the loo you have to jump in and out of the freezing / boiling hot water, in between trying t make your 20p go far! The site itself is ideally located for a 20 minute walk into Leyburn, but it's up a hilly gravel path so not ideally for anyone with mobility problems, and no way you'd want to walk home from the pub in the dark! BE WARNED : We only stayed for 4 days but there is a strict site rule that ANY units must be moved position after 7 days, bad enough if you're in a caravan, but in a tent, if it were me and I had to pack up and move 10 feet.I'd think I might as well move to another site!

Cracking site! Quiet, small, well tended, wonderful views, dark night skies, with a great field for spaniels that need exercise. Motorhomes will need wedges for the slight slope. Facilities freshly painted, shower cubicle is new and clean, and 20p is ample - we never had to queue for loo or shower. Only downer might be lack of a coin-op laundry machine - hand washing plus spin dryer. Leaflet for walks over fields to real ale pubs and beautiful churches, Leyburn is ten minutes uphill (excellent family supermarket). Very helpful owner accommodated us when this site (and all others) had no electric hookups left at Easter and we were far from home, by running a cable from the farmhouse. Motto: always take your 3-pin converter with you! And we'll book next time!

I'll start with the good. Excellent location, only a 20 min walk in to Leyburn up a lane from the site. There are lovely views over Middleham and you can even see the race horses being exercised on the moor in the morning. The people who own the site are lovely and really friendly and there is loads of information in the washing up room. They have a huge field behind the tent/caravan field where dogs can be let off to have a run which is really good because they have to be on the lead a lot when out walking due to the livestock in most of the fields. Now for the bad, I read the reviews for this site before we went and it said the facilities are dated. Well I can do dated so off we went. The toilets are ok, the loo in the shed is the better one though. (2 ladies & 2 Gents loo's) Now the shower. (1Ladies & 1 Gents) It was awful, the first 20p was spent just rinsing all the bugs out before I could even get in! (It was over run with Daddy long legs when we were there). I actually felt like I needed a shower AFTER being in that shower! I would only go back to this site if I had a caravan with its own shower. It's a real shame too because other than the shower everything else is really good. If the facilities were updated and maybe a little bigger this would be an excellent site. We were supposed to be staying at this site for a week but we moved on after 3 days to somewhere with much better facilities.

We have stayed on this site several times and always found it well-maintained and received a warm welcome from Marjorie ,her husband and the dog Bramble. The shower & toilet facilities are always clean, and the information room well-stocked with books to buy or exchange. It is a pleasant walk into Leyburn or Middleham for provisions, and there are several nice walks possible from the campsite. Can be boggy after heavy rain but Marjorie always willing to help, even loaning us her land-rover to tow us off the wet grass! Have recommended this site to several friends and they always say how good it is and have made return visits. The views across to Middleham are fantastic, and it is very handy for visiting many other beautiful places in the Yorkshire Dales. we now have a Motorhome so we will be back soon!

The views from this site are really lovely. The site has basic but clean facilities and the owners are very friendly & helpful. You can choose the camping field or the higher caravan filed with hook ups. Not particularly level in caravan field but owners did warn us about that & offer us the choice. Very good value. Nearest town is Leyburn which has good facilities and is very picturesque. Great place to stay on a trip to the Dales.

Very clean peaceful site. The facilities are basic but we've had worse. The pitches have plenty of room and so even when it 's full it 's never overcrowded. Stayed for two nights and didn't want to go home. A wonderful place for young children to explore in safety. Definitely go back

We loved this site, the owners were nice and friendly. The facilities though dated were far better than other sites we've been to. Our two boys thought it was great, they could explore without us having to keep a constant eye on them, and they loved splashing about in the stream which runs through the site. We will definitely be going back, it was our most enjoyable and relaxing holiday yet, sometimes hard with a 4 year old!

14 or us stayed at the Camping Barn, as it only sleeps 12 we were allowed to pitch a tent at the side. This is an excellent, well kept site, with very friendly owners. The campsite itself has plenty of shelter from the elements by way of tall hedges with good pitch sizes. We couldn't have picked a better weekend for the weather so can't comment on drainage problems. Only downside is that 'Due to Retirement' the 'Camping Barn' is to be no more from the end of the season and is being turned into a 2 bedroom cottage. But for camping then it's an excellent site in idyllic surroundings.

Quiet site with friendly staff. The field(s) are on a slight slope but nothing to worry about, and the toilets/showers are clean, if a little dated.( 20p for shower). It was full while I was there but it was still not crowded, and with all the pitches numbered , I can`t imagine it getting crowded as they do leave you plenty of room. The only down side is that there is no pub on the doorstep, but I knew that already so I can`t really complain.
There is a stream that runs down one side of the site, so if you don`t like the sound of running water, it may pay you to request a pitch on the other side of the field. All in all, a nice site with good views over Middleham and its castle.
