What an absolutely fab, friendly site this is. If peace and quiet with spectacular views is what you're after then this is the place for you. You get a very warm welcome from Marjorie the owner, she tells you where everything is on site and shows you to your pitch.
There are only 2 toilets and 1 shower per sex, which worried me a little but we never once had to wait for either and they were always clean.
There are 2 sinks for washing up and a fridge for campers to use which I thought was a nice touch if you don't have an electric cool box.
The walk into Leyburn wasn't far and keeps you off the main road which is ideal with a dog. The town itself is lovely, you will never go hungry with fish and chips, pizzas, Italian and Indian, as well as plenty of really nice pubs. There is also a small supermarket which is ideal as there is no shop on site. The chocolate factory is a must the smell as you open the door is to die for!
This site is an ideal base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales and is by far the best site we have ever used, I can see us being there a lot!

What a wonderful wonderful site.
It is very very well maintained, with good toilet and shower facilities.
The views from the pitches are fantastic.
We did a great walk from the site into leyburn and onto the shawl and the scenery from there is breathtaking.
We will definitely be back again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely relaxing break.

Although this was not our first visit to this area, it was our first stay at Craken House, What a beautiful site! It is a tranquil place. We love 'the dales' and surrounding area, particularly Leyburn and Craken House was perfect for us.
Facilities were excellent, very clean. The owner Marjorie Iveson, was very welcoming and friendly. Grounds are very well kept and plenty of space between caravans.
Excellent dog walk (dogs must be kept on lead ) Our Greyhound Max loved his walk in the fields every day being tormented by the rabbits!
Elsan waste disposal & fresh water all very close by,no matter where you were pitched. Views are to die for,we were looking over
Open fields across to Middleham. In Leyburn there are plenty of places to eat,, fish & chip shop, indian, chinese, italian Restaurants / takeaways and on Friday there is a small market selling local produce,Wensleydale cheeses and local grown fruit /veg. There is a Supermarket. Tourist Info Centre, Dentist, Doctor, vet. Leyburn is about a five minute drive away from the site.
We will definitely be returning. !

Great little farm site - tucked away - very peaceful! Lovely riverside or small field locations - you get to choose! Perfect dog walk on site & in the middle of great walking country. Peaceful weekend or short break retreat. Great owners - helpful and friendly - tidy and clean facilities, but basic. Close to Leyburn for shops, chip shop, pubs etc. Have visited a number of times and will be going back.

What a fantastic site! Totally peaceful and within a short walk to Leyburn, with all the shops you could need.
A short drive will take you to many interesting attractions, our favourite being the Forbidden Corner, tickets can be purchased on the day in Leyburn Tourist Info office, and the best ice-cream you will ever taste, if you can decide which flavour, is at Brymore icecream parlour nr Jervoux Abbey.
We did a walk from Leyburn to Wensley and can highly recommend The 3 Horseshoes Inn for lunch and a pint (or 2) of Black Sheep bitter, back through the fields will bring you out opposite the campsite entrance.
The site is set within a working Farm and there are 3 areas, a fairly square field surrounded by hedging (where we stayed) a smaller oval field and a peaceful area by the stream with an info hut, benches and picnic table. The pitches are gently sloping but very well spaced and we felt we had loads of room. Plenty of space for the kids to play.
The facilities are basic with 2 ladies loo's and 1 shower, same for the men. They are very clean but quirky, housed in a small selection of sheds! Washing up is in another area next to reception.
This site is very quiet and everyone we came across very friendly.
Not for you if you want everything on site, no shop or play area.

This camp site is a lovely listed farm. The views from the tent were lovely and we could easily see the rain coming, which happened a lot!
Marjorie is a very nice lady and was very welcoming. She showed us to our pitch and allowed us loads of room even with our 9 man tent, a car and a van!
Not much to do around here when the weather is bad. The kids had their bikes with them and were happy cycling around the farm and through the sheep fields. Leyburn is only a few minutes away so if you run short of anything there is no need to panic.
The facilities here are basic but clean, the fields are mown regularly and look great. This is a lovely site but would not revisit as a little too quiet for us.

Stayed here for a few days last week largely on the strength of the reviews on this site. It's an excellent small campsite - basic but well-kept facilities, extremely helpful and friendly owner, spacious pitches and beautiful views. It didn't feel at all crowded even though the site was full, as there are 2 camping fields (with EHU for most if not all pitches) plus a paddock for backpackers / cyclists.
Leyburn is 15 - 20 minutes walk away (uphill but not too extreme) and has all the facilities you'd expect in a Dales market town including pubs, takeaways, restaurants, small supermarket etc.
Access is a little tight for larger caravans but not too difficult.
Highly recommended.

What a lovely little site! It has 'numbered' pitches but each with more than enough space. We and our friends took up two pitches and there was room for us and another 'large' family tent.
It is a nicely divided site where you feel you have enough personal space. It allows for camping and caravanning to slot into it's natural surroundings. The toilets and showers are beside the farm house and are made up of a group of converted sheds. However, they are not only kept very clean but are cosy in their own little way!
Despite one night of constant rain we were not bogged down they next morning and could leave at our leisure, hence no pressure. The only problem we had during our weekend stay was a caravanner (with awning) having their TV on too loud even during the night of heavy rain (11.30pm). Why have a TV blasting from an awning when you can have your tele in your caravan? Beats Me!
We took friends and their wee daughter for her first camp and she absolutely adored it. So did we! This is a dream site close to the wonderful Leyburn and super Wensleydale.
In the market square car park there was a request for donations for parking. How cool was that? In Cornwall just a couple of weeks back they charged for every parking space and for anyone who stood for more than 30secs!
A lovely spacious but cosy site beside a small warm and welcoming market town! Watch out for the rebellious (play chicken) sheep on the lengthy farm drive!
We absolutely loved it and so will you!

Just returned from a weekend break at this site which is set in a great location with stunning views across Wensleydale valley.
The owners were very friendly and did all they could to make our stay enjoyable.
We used the site because of its proximity to leyburn but is actually further than is stated its a good 25 mins walk to get to the town centre and you have a quite steep hill to go up and back down on your return but when you do get there you will find everything you want pubs, shops, takeaways,in fact everything is available.
The toilet and shower facilities are very basic but clean but only 2 toilets and 1 shower per sex (and one of the ladies toilet seats was broken off) and for the size of the site it could do with more
We enjoyed our stay whilst there, but would not use again, as £15.00 a night which I think is too much for what you get.

What a lovely site with fab views. The owners are so welcoming. You can walk into Leyburn, plenty of food places and the fish and chips in the town are very enjoyable. Plenty of attractions, the forgotten corner, the Blacksheep brewery, Richmond, Hawes. We shall return.
