Saw this site and chose it for my 3 year old's first trip away. It's only an hour from home so seemed perfect.
We spent a hot and sunny weekend at Masons and it is one of the best sites we've been to, and for our nipper it was perfect. We didn't move the car for the entire weekend.
River Wharfe at the bottom of the site, walks along the river to Burnsall, plenty of room for ball games etc. in fact, the owners put up a 'full' sign on Saturday even though there was still plenty of room, so it was good to see instead of a policy of cramming them in. Facilities were fine, the odd queue for the showers, but no big deal. Loos and showers cleaned daily.
The two pubs in Appletreewick were great, very relaxing. Didn't eat at either but the grub looked good. The sites owners were very laid back and friendly. Was it good value and would we go again? Too right

This is a lovely little campsite. The location is stunning as right in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Shower/ washing facilities old but clean.
The local pubs are a 5 minute walk away. There are two and they are both dog friendly. We particularly loved the Craven Arms which did great food too.
There are lots of lovely walks nearby for the dog to enjoy. The walk through Strid Wood to Bolton Abbey is lovely.

Lovely situated campsite, in a beautiful valley, next to a river and within walking distance of 2 pubs, both serving excellent beer. The nearest The Craven Arms is wonderful, the interior superb, (the food's not quite as you'd expect for the price though.) The second one along - The New Inn was dated inside but unlike the Craven arms - in a bad 70's way - in much need of updating, though it has an excellent range of Belgian Beers. Both have nice staff and friendly locals.
It's very much a family friendly site, with lots of kids noisily playing down by the river. The facilities are good, with a decent toilet block and shower, also there was a van selling supplies when we were there, and there are chickens roaming around - you can buy fresh eggs from them.
It is expensive though - the most expensive site we've ever been to in 20 years camping - and it does come across as a little money grabbing with petty charges added for turning up early (£5 extra) and even just parking (again £5 - city centre prices.) There was a 3 night minimum on the bank holiday we stayed (which is fair enough)- but if you can only stay for 2 nights - it's £60 for 2 nights stay which is simply extortionate. All this has to be paid for in advance if you're in a big party.
There are plenty of people for who this is no problem though - there were lots of BMW's, Audi's and Saab's parked up - this is very much the epitome of 'cool camping' - which can be good or bad depending on where you're coming from.
For us it was a mixed bag.
All in all though I would recommend it though - it's very well run and in a beautiful part of the world.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at Masons Farm and the kids and I had a fantastic time. We were greeted by really friendly owners who showed us to our pitch. As we were staying with another family, Georgia showed us the best 2 pitches so we could pitch together. Granted some of the pitches did look a little small, but everyone who was there looked to have enough room for the size of their tent / caravan / motorhome.
A small one field site, which opens another field for tents for a few weekends a year. Stunning location with river side access and lots of great walks. Pubs in the village were nice as well, friendly and accepting kids and dogs.
Facilities on site were good for the size of site, although could be a little crowded in the high season. Toilets were always clean, showers also clean and tidy, although the showers a little bit dated. But they did the job providing free hot showers. Nice pot washing room with a freezer for ice packs. Saw on a notice that the owners were planning a washer / dryer room. Good idea when you have been walking.
Price for the weekend was £53, for 1 adult and 3 kids, with EHU and a late departure on Sunday (gave time for the tent to dry) as the standard leaving time is 10.30. In my opinion, not a bad price for a weekend away, with suitable facilities, in a stunning location.
A great site, which I am planning to return to soon, keep up the good work.

Thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to Mason's. Great spot by the river, kids loved it. Only one small field open all year, so I can imagine sunny weekends may get a little hectic, but we were lucky.
Very respectful fellow campers meant we had a restful stay despite the cold. Stars were spectacular and site silent by 9pm.
The 2 pubs up the lane were sensational, each had it's own draw, one great ales and homely pub menu, the other a bit pricier but stunning interior (olde worlde charm!) and similar ale menu! An easy circular walk along the river from the site can find these two hostelries as a finishing point, the promise of crisps and pop kept the kids going.
Site management are helpful and low key, and I didn't find it overpriced for our basic needs. Pitches are small, but are in proportion to the site. After an afternoon messing about in the river free hot showers are a treat!

Just returned from a four night stay at this site over the Easter bank holiday. It is in a gorgeous location by the river with 2 good pubs nearby but the positives stop there.
The site cost us £28.50 a night for 2 adults and 2 kids so was way over priced. The pitch size was tiny and the site was really overcrowded so we had to queue to use one of the three toilets on many occasions.
The access road to the site from Burnsall is not brilliant if you have a big caravan and on a sunny day the bridge at Burnsall is very busy and difficult to pass all the parked cars.
All in all the site is in a gorgeous spot but really not worth the effort of getting there or the price.

A very friendly site with a great mixture of age groups camping/caravanning, set in a beautiful area. The sites facilities were basic but fulfilled the requirements of our group of 3 caravans with no complaints.
The staff were very welcoming and lent us their extendible electrics cable with no qualms or deposits and also had a mobile shop that came on site and would take orders.
You can walk off the site in many directions to some wonderful walking and villages nearby such as Grassington. There were two pubs within walking distance and both allowed children, again both very friendly and a great atmosphere throughout.
A definite recommendation and we will be back. Our only word of advice is ignore your shat-nav and head towards and go through Burnsall from the roundabout on the A59 - don't let your shat-nav take you through Storiths - it's horrendous drive with caravan.

I haven't camped in years and this was a great site for our dummy run! Was greeted by staff who showed us our pitch and explained the pitch boundaries, plenty space! Toilets very clean and showers were hot and never had to wait! Water available all round site, never had far to go to fill up. Great atmosphere with all the kids playing and the smell of barbeques. River close by safe enough for the kids to play in, and a field next door for ball games etc. Staff walking around regularly, keeping check and making sure all ok. Two pubs nearby within short walking distance and 5 min drive into Burnsall. Beautiful walks, suitable for little ones too. Local shop on wheels pulled up early Sunday morning for forgotten provisions or treats for the kids(on site shop would make it perfect!). Fantastic staff and site, will certainly be going again in future!

Beautiful location, amazing views and a river to paddle in. Perfect.
We camped with another family, side by side, both with hook-ups, but facing the river, which I think is a prime spot as most of the time we couldn't see the other tents. The site seems to attract a lot of groups, and was packed during this August weekend, but it was pretty quiet at night.
The facilities were adequate but not particularly luxurious - shower curtains were a bit grotty - (I'd do away with them entirely) but the water was hot and plentiful. Despite it being a busy weekend, and the fact that I prefer to shower in the morning like many others, I didn't need to queue. The five showers are unisex, which I think is a good idea as you don't end up with queues in the ladies and spare showers in the gents or vice versa.
There are two pubs in walking distance, with excellent food, and a van calls each morning with groceries, bacon and sausages, cappucinos, and a few toys for the kids. This meant that we didn't need to take much food with us.
Bolton Abbey is a nice walk away, though the river runs very quickly through the stepping stones - beware, we had to backtrack with the children. Grassington has some pretty shops and nice cafes, and I suspect the walking in the area would be great if only the children would cooperate. Highly recommended.

Site was in a good location with close proximity to 2 local pubs.
The Craven Arms and The New Inn.
The Craven Arms was OK, not sure if it served 'the perfect pint' as they market themselves and didn't like the fact that the locals are sat on buffets at the bar thus making it very difficult to get served.
The New Inn whilst nowhere near as nice inside was more friendly and the food was really good with decent size portions.
Back to the site.
Decent showers and toilet block
When we arrived we were asked if we were hikers, when we said we were bikers we were told it was £12 for both, then I slipped up and said we had a car, that will be £20 ! eh, £8 to put your car on site, should have left it on the road and walked on site. When we enquired why the tariff stated £16 for 2 and a car we were told there was a bank holiday supplement of £4, well I mean !
End of the day it was only a tenner each and we had a good day mountain biking, a good shower and a close walk to the pubs so was worth it, just thought the £8 extra for a car and BH supplement was a tad cheeky.
