Just come back from a 2 night stay here at Masons and we will be definitely going back here soon. Such an amazing place!
As soon as we arrived the views were superb, a perfect place to stay in the heart of the dales. The pitch sizes were perfect and there was a mixture of tents, trailer tents and caravans.
The site is in perfect walking distance to 2 lovely country pubs which both serve good grub and beer and friendly people. 2 minute walk to the river and a 10 minute walk to the next village along the river.
On the site there are plenty of sinks to wash your cooking utensils, toilets are recently refurbished and modern and clean. There are only 3 showers and 1 hairdryer but even though the site was full we never had to wait long for them and they were always warm.
Overall just a perfect site to stay for couples and families with young children, we stayed up with the camp fire all and everybody stuck to the keep quiet after 11.30pm which was nice.

We stayed here for a weekend in June. The campsite has a funky office in a funky silver airstream - we checked in here and there was also a small shop here selling anything you may need.
The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay and really seemed to care and want to make your stay more enjoyable.
The campsite has a main field which has electric hook ups and then there is another field which runs along side the river. Caravans, Campervans and tents all mingle throughout the campsite.
There was a lot of families with children but the campsite was large enough for us to pitch in a quiet area further along the river.
The toilet area and washing up sinks have recently been refurbished, water was always hot and the facilities clean.
There are 2 pubs very close to the campsite, Burnall is a mile down the river. A good location where you can walk from the campsite in many directions.
A great campsite and I will return with no hesitation.

We have just returned from a two night stay at Mason's campsite.
The welcome from the office was great, really friendly and helpful. They directed us to our pitch and came down to make sure we were happy with the pitch.
The site itself is great, in a wonderful spot, right next to the river.
The toilet and shower block is clean and modern and even in the half term holidays I never had to wait.
Plenty of sinks outside to was your pots.
Found the racks for using disposable bbq's really useful and a nice touch.
The site was quite noisy on a night as there were lots of families with it been half term and having a 3yr old and a 6yr old the 11.30 pm quite time rule was a little late for us but it didn't put us off.
The mornings were really relaxed and as it was full of children I didn't keep having to tell mine to be quite.
Appletreewick is lovely, it has a couple of pubs that sell food but did seem quite pricey.
We walked along the river to the next small town and there was a lovely little tea room that sold meals at a much more reasonable price.
I will return to Masons, it was a lovely place to spend a couple of days.

First visit to this site in May 2011 on a busy bank holiday weekend, and we'll be back! Despite being very busy, we found no problems with the hot water running out, and the facilities overall were very good and obviously new.
We are a party of different families, with a mix of tents and caravans, and we find it difficult to find sites where we can all camp together, which also offer location, facilities, and decent local eateries. This is most definitely one of them.
The setting is stunning, on a very quiet road, right on the river Wharf. The local pubs are dog and children friendly: Craven Arms (really superb home produced food and great beer) and New Inn (good food, good beer, slightly cheaper). Both have websites so you can see what you're going to get.

We've just come back from here and we're relatively new to camping, but thought this was a lovely campsite, really enjoyed ourselves and met some really great other campers.
The facilities were fantastic - everyone observed quiet time and although it was a rainy weekend, we really enjoyed ourselves. It's expensive for camping I think, but probably worth it.
Our kids loved it - it's close to the river and it felt a very safe campsite to allow our children to go to the toilet on their own and go and see the chickens!
Plus, Appletreewick is lovely and I can really recommend the food at the Mason's Arms (and the landlord, who was truly lovely to my 4 year old daughter!). Good selection of local beers too. Also a lot of great walks in the area.
Unfortunately we didn't get to paddle in the stream because the river was running really fast (on account of all the rain!), but the children liked just being outside, climbing hills and trees etc.
We'll definitely be back.

On the whole a lovely site with nice showers and clean toilets, the only bad point as said by others is it is quite expensive compared to other sites. £61 for two nights for two adults and one child under 12 as we have a large tent(6mx4m) and a real cheeky one was charging for putting iceblocks in freezer(£2 for 4 blocks). However the setting is perfect. Two lovely pubs a 5 minute walk away, we ate in the new inn which was very friendly with great food and good beer at reasonable prices. There's also a nice walk following the river to Burnsal (about a mile). All in all a lovely site we will be back at Masons very soon

Just returned from Masons after a wonderful weekend. Even in the rain, the setting is just incredible and beautifully unspoilt.
Staff were lovely and very helpful.Facilities have been totally transformed and they are clean and toasty warm! Showers are plentiful and the free warm water is a welcome bonus. No issues with hot water contrary to other reviews, and site was full.
Pitch sizes are more than ample, and I have been to sites which are cramped and I wouldn't have said this is one of them.
The site is a little gem, nestled amongst the hills of the Yorkshire Dales - well worth every penny and will definitely!

This is one of our favourite sites. The toilet, showers etc are top notch, 5 star, but you pay a bit more for this which we don't mind. Take everything with you and it doesn't cost much more than anywhere else. Walks, river and area are fab. The red lion pub does good pub grub well priced. Grassington is great.
Pitches not huge but we didn't feel cramped. The owners don't intrude but a little more input in keeping things ticking along as your paying extra, ie dogs on leads, noise late at night, a covered area for washing up would be great. They charge for everything down to freezing a little freezer pack 15p? Whats the point! All in all a great site which we will go back to, but there are cheaper sites with all and more to offer than this site does

Agree with other reviews about this site.
They pack you in and it is expensive.
However we had a nice weekend here.
While we were here there was a 40th birthday party which was rowdy on the fri night, they were told to quieten down and much better on the saturday night.
We had a lovely scenic walk to Grassington and back. Also went to the New Inn pub up the road for a meal, this was ok but pricey.
There is no reception or poor for TV.
Other wise a nice campsite. Would return again but have been to better.

Went to this campsite during the weekend of the Royal Wedding with a group of friends with family.
Lovely site in a beautiful location.
Second field was opened and full of tents during this visit so the campsite was full.
Beautiful walks along the river to Barden or Bolton Abbey.
We have been to this site in previous years and had a great time.
This year we saw changes to the shower, toilets and washing up area facilities - which were completed to a very good standard (washing up area now outside and not covered). However when using the new facilities it appeared that the new system could not cope with amount of customers and so, firstly the hot water ran out - then the water ran out altogether! - (not great when you are in the middle of a shower with a head full of shampoo!)
Not happy!
No communication from the owners/caretakers.
Lovely site, but as others have said pricey since the arrival of the new facilities which don't seem to be able to cope on busier weekends.
