A very beautiful location but too over crowded, The toilet block was spotless but there wasn't any plugs in the sink and also nowhere to put your shampoo/soap so found it difficult when having a shower. A couple of nice pubs that do meals not too far away but it really is a location for campers that like rambling. I paid for a large pitch but felt overcrowded with tents as there wasn't much room between us. I think that it would be better to locate the tents and caravans in separate locations The amount of money I paid for this break seemed expensive and not value for money.

My partner and I have just spent three nights on the masons campsite at Appletreewick, we hadn't booked and were lucky to get a pitch as the site was very busy. Good sized grass pitch with electric. Site is very clean, toilet and shower block very clean, just one minor criticism with the shower no shower curtain so it was difficult to keep clothes and towel dry and no where to put soap shampoo in the shower. Beautiful scenery surrounds this site, a lovely walk along the river bank to Burnsall. The reception also has a well stocked shop and you can order fresh bread daily. Two pubs close to the site, we had our evening meal at the New Inn on two evenings, the food was excellent with a bar serving real ales. We did have a drink at the Craven Arms good selection of real ales. We would recommend this site.

Quaint little site with lovely views. A nice riverside walk into Burnsall. Two nice pubs just up the road from site both serving food. Gets very busy at the weekend so booking is recommended but this attracts a £2. 00 charge making it £20. 50 a night for a two night stay. Firepits are available to hire but new policy states that you can no longer take your own as their was too much damage being caused to the grass. How my chimineer would have caused damage where a firepit wouldn't I'm not sure, but a hire charge of £15 for two nights may explain this. The staff were friendly. If you are takng a tent at weekend in peak season when the river field is open the toilets and showers, which are very clean, can get very busy. A pleasant well kept site which we will visit again.

See my last review for this site as well, although thank god the weather was better this time!

We went on the May bank holiday and there were 6 or 7 tents and about 30 of us in our group, as well as some of our friends renting the flat.

The fields were packed, but really well spaced with plenty of room to play games etc. We camped in the river field (which I think is only open a few days each year).

We hired a fire pit, grouped ourselves around it and had a great time. The weather was amazing all weekend, so we went for walks, played rounders etc and it was a great atmosphere.

Even though there were loads of people, the facilities coped well and there was only a queue occasionally for the men's toilets. Everyone seemed very pleased overall with the facilities.

The flat was great as well, also a good cheat for campers who want to jump the shower queue.

Great pub The Craven Arms up the road, well worth a visit for food and ales.

It's a great site, and would recommend it to anyone.

I hadn't been camping since I was in Girl Guides and trust me, that hadn't gone well.

My sister and brother-in-law had bought a new tent and invited myself and my partner along with there dog on the bank holiday trip. I'll be honest, I was dubious and expectations were low.

Arriving at Masons, I was amazed as the place was a hive of chilled out energy. It gave of a sort of hippy vibe with the various VW campers and old airstream caravans dotted about amongst the tents.

The staff were very friendly and helpful in the reception/ shop.

The facilities were very clean and there were enough to go around. The outdoor washing up area was big enough to accommodate several people at once and the bins and recycling areas were clearly marked and in sufficient amount.

The area and river around the site were lovely and perfect for the dog.

All-in-all, Masons has spoiled me in regards to campsites here in the UK as I've since found out that no matter how hard you look - there not all as good as Masons.

Really nice setting between Pateley Bridge and Skipton, and not a million miles from home!

The site is level and the ground soft which made pitching the tent easy on a damp afternoon. The facilities were spotless the whole time we were there, my only criticism was the shower cubicles could have been a little bigger or had a screen, my onsie got damp from the shower spray, however problem solved by hot footing across the way to a dry cubicle to finish getting dried off. The pot wash area was clean and tidy and also had the usual recycling facilities. Glampy little shop in an Airstream which will order your morning paper, what more could you want?

I think you pay for what you get and I had no complaints, the site was friendly and well managed. We stayed, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, with the Saturday being quite busy with a bizarre variety of V-dubs, land rover safari affairs, caravans, camper vans, bunting and barbecues.

Beautiful location with lovely flat river walk into Burnsall where there was a choice of pub or tea room to ease the appetite.

The Craven Arms is a hop, skip and a jump away and full of vintage charm. We ate here twice and warmed our toes by the open fire, they welcome well behaved dogs, children and the yokels rubbed shoulders with the campers. Perfect.

Loved the fact the campsite's quiet time is from 11. 30pm which is a little more grown up than some sites I've stayed at.

No doubt I shall be back. It was quirky and fun!

Just returned from out second visit to Masons, there's no denying its a nice site, well located right next to the river making walking very enjoyable as there's no need to go on the road.

There's a couple of pubs within walking distance which is great, however the road can be quite dangerous when walking back to the site in the dark so I would recommend taking a torch with you.

The facilities are nice, new and clean.

My only negative comment about the site is we paid £27.00 per night for a large caravan which is a bit on the pricey side in October and to be honest it wasn't what I would call a particularly large pitch, neither was it hard standing, on top of that we paid £5. 00 to stay on pitch after 11.00am plus a £2.50 booking fee all added together it made for an expensive low season weekend away.

As first timers we found Masons campsite to be a perfect weekend away.

We were greeted with a smile and found the facilities & shower block to be very clean and tidy. With drinking water and pot washing sinks nearby.

The staff were amazing and assisted us with additional shelter when they saw our undersized, inadequate tent (as I said we were first timers and to be honest we didn't have a clue what we were doing!)

The nearby pubs were brilliant, cosy with a good atmosphere and both served great food for both adults and children alike.

The small on site shop had everything we needed, including very fresh farm eggs which were delicious for breakfast.

We were impressed that the site had recycling facilities and was all kept clean and tidy during our stay.

Our pitch was ample size to accommodate a tent and a car, also we were pitched next to friends as requested. The area we were in was set out nicely and the children were safe to play between our 2 pitches (I am a worrying mother by nature and was worried about the out-in-the-openness of camping so this gave me peace of mind!)

We followed the river on a lovely walk to The Strid. Lovely views and the path is mainly a safe distance from the water which following the rain we had the week before was very fast running.

We hired a firepit which was more than big enough to put between our two pitches and for all 4 adults, 2 kids and a dog to keep warm around it despite the cold windy weather.

All-in-all a lovely weekend away and a stress free first time for us all. The kids enjoyed their stay, staff were friendly and extremely helpful beyond our expectations. We will definitely be rebooking at Masons Campsite for next year.

I was not overly impressed with our welcome, no information given re facilities, pot wash, recycling etc. Wardens never said good morning etc during our stay.

Our pitch was nice & flat with ample space for a large tent. The views in all directions are stunning & there is fantastic walking straight off the site.

Loos were dirty on arrival, not getting cleaned until early evening, they did get attended to by lunch time the rest of our stay.

Showers were nice & hot but the power was sadly lacking. 3 hooks & a shower tidy were good though the mens only had 2 hooks & no tidy for bottles etc.

The cold tap never ran cool, so you had to clean your teeth in warm water.

The pot wash should have a cover over it imo. Water was hot.

A brilliant idea was the use of blue bins for your cans/bottles etc. It made recycling so easy, just pick them up by the pot wash.

Wire shopping baskets available for disposable bbqs also a good idea.

Enormous fire grates available for hire too.

Reception sells a good range of supplies, with papers to order etc. Freezer outside for your ice packs etc.

Midges can be troublesome, so take a good repellant.

This site is extremly popular with groups & families. Quite time is 11:30. I would suggest if you want a tranquil camp avoid busy times of the year. We went early September & it was heavenly.

We did see tents put in spaces where someone was parking their car, no idea why as there was room around the site. Baffled us why the smaller tents were cramped. Our neighbours had been there the week earlier & described it to Glastonbury. Like I said, if you want peace & quiet avoid school holidays.

Would return, as the area offers so much awesome walking, the site is good & with a few improvements could be very good. You are paying a premium price to stay here, so come on Masons, cover up your pot wash, & sort out the water in the facilities.

When we first arrived we were very pleased with the facilities and the friendly reception. We were looking forward to the weekend as a group of 14 and having read all the rules we were expecting a well organised site.

We were not disappointed with the shower/toilet block and if the weather had been sunny they would have been much cleaner but campers can't be too bothered about that!

The only downsides were that the pitches were disorganised and so when we went out for the day we returned to find someone had pitched their tent in our parking space with only a space of about 2ft. We then had nowhere convenient to park the car and in turn inconvenienced other campers. Also, despite their long list of rules and signs about keeping dogs on leads this was not enforced at all. We were constantly shooing wet dogs away from our tents and the owners didn't always pick up their mess.

There is a pub within walking distance which is very nice and the river that runs at the back of the site is lovely to sit and look at. The resident ducks make it very charming and the margaritas being served for the Mexican weekend were lovely.
