We visited the campsite during the busy April/May bank holiday. Firstly, take care if you have a caravan, some of the roads are very narrow and busy with walkers and cycles. The drive at times can seem difficult but the scenery will help you make it, and it is fantastic.
BUT. I'm afraid that when we arrived we were very disappointed. This site in our opinion is really for tents only. The pitches are very small and extremely close. They are also uneven as we found out. Having been shown to our pitch we could not believe how small they are. We have visited many sites, often privately operated and we found this to be possibly the worst. The distinct lack of organisation on arrival set the tone for the whole weekend. We understand that during busy times every resource will be under pressure, but a smile and a warm welcome costs nothing
The pitches are very closely packed, so much so that if you have anything much more than a standard awning, be warned, you may end up with no room to put it up, let alone walk around or sit out.
The tents dominated the whole site and were also very close together. There was very little space for children to play. (The river is fantastic and proved a real hit with most of the site). If you wish to play any sort of ball games, or sit and enjoy the views you will find this difficult. This is a real shame as the views are breath taking and stunning.
The toilet and shower facilities are new, which when we arrived we found of a good standard. During peak times we found them dirty, very busy and at times just littered with mess. On our last day, they were very grim indeed and all the Wc's were very dirty and not something you wish to use. They were simply not being cleaned often enough during busy times.
The staff were always situated in the office and took little or no time to check the site, cars were parked anywhere and there was little or no organisation. As is the theme of this site it is very much 'you take us as you find us' and if not then its not for you. Well for a site that charges a premium price for not much else it is a real shame. This is only our experience.
The scenery and area makes up for what was a very disappointing experience, but I don't think we will return in any hurry.

We have visited Masons many times over the last few years but recently, since it was taken over by new owners the prices have soared.'
There is no doubting that the location is lovely with rivers, pubs and villages nearby but at the cost of £19 for a basic tent plus £8 if its over 6 metres plus £3.50 PER child plus this plus that.
We asked the owners who simply say ' you are paying for the site facilities which have been upgraded' In my view the facilities are good but only what should expected at a well maintained and established site.

Stayed mid week Monday to Thursday before the Easter weekend and was very pleased with the location, the site, the facilities and everything.
I had read a few reviews and was concerned over the pitch size and toilet / shower facilities but I wasn't when we got there. All the facilities have been totally modernized with brand new separate male and female toilets and showers with heated floors. They are cleaned daily between 11.30 and noon and were open all night so 24 hr acces apart from cleaning.
The pitch size was more than big enough for a 2 berth caravan with awning and car parking. The dalesway goes right beside the campsite with lots of other walks from this location to surrounding areas. To be honest we could not find anything wrong here and we can now understand why it gets booked up very quickly.
Without a doubt will be visiting again and cant wait to do so

We camped here midweek prior to the Easter weekend and dropped on a beautiful few days. The site is set in a beautiful area, surrounded by walks and lovely villages but wait for it. You certainly do pay for it, big time!
I thought £19 per pitch was average but on top of that we were changed an whooping £8 per night if the tent is over 6metres! and £3.50 per child on top of everything else how is this justified.
The showers and toilets are lovely. I think prior to the peak season, especially when quiet the prices could be lower.
The owners are a young couple, not very friendly in comparison to other really friendly people at other parks we have visited.
We would have been regular customers and stayed a lot longer had the prices have been reasonable, but for a family it is far too expensive.

Having just returned from a midweek stay at Masons I can in all honestly say that we won't be returning. Don't get me wrong it's in a beautiful location with stunning views but the prices they charge are extortionate!
It cost us, 2 adults and 3 small children £76.80 for a 2 night stay!
We've paid a third of this to stay at sites in equally beautiful locations, views and probably better amenities.
The shower block was spotless, however they are brand new.
For this price you would at least expect some good customer service, but nobody was particularly helpful or pleasant, finding it hard to even break a smile at you.

Stayed here Oct 2010 very well kept but very small circular site. Toilet and shower facilities basic but plenty of hot water, personally I feel the showers could do with some work and would do without in future.
However great site for kids as the river runs through and kept our 2 amused for hours. There are also 2 very nice pubs within walking distance serving excellent food, very welcoming atmosphere and very enchanting gas lighting.
Staff were very helpful with local info etc and we would visit again.

Stayed at masons for a week, lovely area and the kids loved the river, finding plenty of crayfish!
The site is clean with good facilities, always had hot water.
The weekend got very busy, and was far too many tents cramped onto an already small site, nowhere for the kids to kick a ball etc.
The last night of stay really noisy, with a large group of drunk holidaymakers screaming until 2am, much to the disgust of fellow campers.
I would come again to the campsite but would avoid weekends when site cannot cope with amount of campers squeezed in.

WOW! Just got back from a fabulous stay here. I was worried having read 2 poor reviews of the site but have been thrilled with our stay and only wished we'd booked for longer. We were a party of 2 tents with 5 children and the kids had a fantastic time playing in the river(even in the rain), rope swings and games on the camp site with new friends. Easy walks along the edge of the river (although not pram friendly)so you can leave the car.
The site was crowded as it's peak time but didn't spoil our fun. Our kids were in bed for 10pm and there was some noise but not enough to cause annoyance.
Fire pits were a great idea but get in early as they go quickly.
Can't comment on the showers as too busy having fun to use them! Toilet block was clean, with plug socket available & mirrors. Lots of hot water and ample soap and good hand dryer.
The shop visits daily and if you need anything in particular he'll bring specially the day after. Caters for most basic camping needs so you never need leave the site.
There's individual tent buckets for your recycling to keep your pitch tidy.
Fresh eggs available on site from the hens running around freely. Payphone on site. Indoor washing up room had 4 sinks, washing machine, dryer and freezer for your ice blocks - although one man was putting his days catch of fish in there. We had a lovely pitch by the river & only negative is the midges, but small price to pay.
Fell in love with the location & looking at the calendar now to see if we can fit another visit in before the end of the season - pack the fishing nets!

We have just visited Masons as we sometimes do, but we were amazed to see eight Airstreams in one place. Some imported big imported old ones some you models and one new American one complete with a Harley Davidson in the back of the pick up.
As we arrived on a Sunday there was plenty of space, and the kids had the five acre overflow field to themselves for cricket and football.
Good hot showers (free)and no queuing and the mobile shop is a bonus.
All quiet after eleven thirty no problems there.
Looking forward to the beer festival.

This campsite is one of my favourites! It is in a stunning location, well away from the hustle and bustle of town and city life right on the edge of the River Wharfe. We come here at least once a year because we feel so comfortable with the friendly, outgoing and enthusiastic owners and staff who are ready to help you really get the best from your stay. Whenever we have been stuck for something to do they have come up with allsorts of activities for us and the children to enjoy together, their knowledge of the area is brill!
Though the weather wasn't too great this weekend the owners allowed us to put up a gazebo so that we could sit out and watch the kids play. There is a huge field next to the main camping field where everyone plays cricket, football etc.
We have an Outwell Montana which is quite a large tent but we had a more than adequate sized pitch which fit our tent, gazebo and car. Plus the facilities are well maintained and cleaned daily - something that you don't always find at other sites.
Friday night was quite lively but the owners came round the site on Saturday to have a word with everyone about it which meant Saturday night was much more settled and the site was nice and quiet by about 10pm.
Once again, I would like to thank the 'crew' at Masons for being so welcoming and helping us to have a fantastic stay. For such a popular site which gets fully booked in advance, we definitely never feel like we are just another number and we can't wait to come back and see you all again.
