What a magical site. The location is perfect for children, who love to explore the rock pools by the river Wharfe. This is now a very favourite annual visit, together with a group of 10 families who regularly camp together from our primary school. The warden always accommodates us together and we are able to go on superb walks through the countryside, or simply to the two excellent pubs in the village. Facilities are basic but always clean and the showers are beautifully warm. The setting is just beautiful and you are awoken in the morning by the echos of sheep on the dale. Highly recommended.

This site had vary basic facilities although they were kept clean and the owner very helpful. The views made up for that as they were really spectacular. Take hand soap as it is not provided in any of the toilets which I think is a bit penny pinching and to install soap dispensers is not really expensive and they would recoup that back easy. We went with our friends and had a great time. Over the other side of the road you can walk right up to the top of the hill which if you are up to it well worth it as the view is magnificent. The craven arms is definitely worth a vist lovely pub lovely people and it was very busy so if you wanting an eve meal best to book beforehand. This site is worth visiting and we will return

We managed to grab a night here at the tail end of the great weather we've been having and had a fantastic time! It's a wonderful place to stay if you're a walker. However, make sure you bring all your booze with you, because the only shop for miles (down the river in Burnsall) doesn't have a licence and the pubs are pricey (but lovely!). The previous review said there were no lights at night, but this has been remedied- there are lights at intervals all the way down the field. The only thing I didn't like was the 10p charge for freezing your ice packs. This just smacked of money-grabbing to me, but it won't put us off! We'll certainly be back. Soon!

Quite tight access with the chance of meeting a tractor if you go in via Appletreewick - the owners will be happy to tell you the `longer` route round though. Unless your confidant at reversing! Nice large site, with mainly level pitches. Was a little soggy in places whilst we were there, and the bottom of the campsite (by the river) was closed. Highlight of the holiday was pulling motorhomes of the grass with my 4x4! Great site if you want to get away from it all. Cause you are literally away from everything! Closest Co-op type shop is about 8-miles away, so don't forget to take your cupboards and fridge full! There is a small village shop about a 5 minute walk away which has a large, but limited range, and a coffee shop too. Fantastic walks along the river, with stunning views, especially in Autumn with the trees changing colours. River was quite high and fast after so much rain, but I would imaging in summer safe for paddling (supervised) Good facilities, but no lighting on the Site. So if your going for a stroll in the dark (to the loos or the pubs) you defiantly need a torch! Overall nice quite relaxing Site, if that's what you want I would definitely recommend.

Just returned from a four night stay here - site shuts on 31st October. I agree with the other reviews but I'd like to point out: There are no shops at all in Appletreewick - therefore it's the trip to Burnsall which is a mile and a half walk down river. I think the shop there only opens at certain times as well. There are two pubs - the closest does food in the evening (unfortunately it was shutting for three weeks when we arrived!). The pub further away - the New Inn does food only at lunchtimes - 12 - 2 and 12 - 3.45 on a Saturday and Sunday - kids are allowed in until 9pm. So no evening meal for us! The road from Burnsall is one car narrow and there's a lot of backing up going on! River was big and fast when we were there. Our kids are 11 and 9 - I wasn't too keen on the eldest paddling so it's obviously different at this time of year. He did do some fishing but didn't catch anything. I imagined the river to be a brook type but it is really wide and deep. Facilities were fine - it is the same price in October as any other time of year. So £17.50 is cheap in August but a bit expensive now. We too had a lot of rain - we walked up Malham cove and also went to Skipton castle which was good - it's privately owned so no discounts for NT or English Heritage - family ticket £15.90. Skipton has Tesco and Morrisons but no local shop open on a Sunday to buy bread or milk. Bizzies chip shop there has won awards and you can see why - we went on Monday night - food is lovely. I'd come here again but with more provisions!

Beautiful setting, great for walking. Pitch good - nice and flat. Our neighbours (a group) were rather too close for comfort, however, and were very noisy until very late on the Friday night. Facilities basic, but generally clean - though we felt the toilet block could really have done with a more thorough cleaning - the place was absolutely festooned with cobwebs - including across the cubicle doors. It would not have taken much effort to give it a good spring clean and get rid of them.

Just returned from a lovely weekend away at Masons Farm with friends using tents. All sited together which is great for us. Site fairly full but not packed in by owners. Owner were helpful - one of the tents wanted electric hookup, their lead was too short - site owners lent them one F.O.C. Site is near river - loos & showers fine - well keep site.

We spent 2 nights here during the first weekend of September and I have to say it could not have rained any harder if it had tried. That said we did have a wonderful weekend. The local pubs are great and you have a great selection of quality food should you need it. During the odd breaks of sunshine the kids had a ball on the site, lots of ducks to chase and plenty of safe area's to play. Shower blocks were OK although one of the locks didn't work so you ran the chance of sharing with a stranger, other than that everything was in tip top order and considering the weather, everywhere was kept clean and tidy. Great value, great for kids and would recommend to anyone.

The site is in one of the most beautiful areas I have seen. Good location for visiting the Dales, good location for walking. Owner very helpful but there lies the problem! The owner states that she will never turn anyone away. It therefore becomes overcrowded! Great for kids but not relaxing. Regrettably the combination of these issues spoilt it for us. We will not return.

WOW! I have been camping now for over 20 years and have to say that this is one of the best ever campsites! I went with my mother and 2 young children and we had the best ever time. My children preferred this to any holidays abroad or in the UK so far! The Campsite has one of the nicest Hosts - Helen. The site is situated on a valley and has a lovely river / stream running at the bottom of it. The pitches all tend to be flat and spacious, with an equal split between those with electric hook up and not. The toilet & shower facilities are basic but clean. The washing up area is large and they even supply special stands for disposable BBQ's. My children are young and they managed to lovely river walks which go from the bottom of the site the Barden Bridge & Burnsall. The river was shallow enough for the children to paddle in (and us) and catch fish! I would definitely give this site 9/10 rating! We are going back very soon, if we can get a pitch because it is so so popular. We as young family would highly recommend this wonderful site.
