Stayed here August bank holiday. we expected the site to be full but they had really crammed people in and the facilities couldn't cope. queuing for toilets and showers throughout the morning from 7am is not ideal and cold pressureless showers are even worse. ok rant over. this is a lovely site in a great location and the last experience wont put us off going back but at a quieter time.

We visited this site over the school holidays and found it to be extremely busy and to my mind very cramped, but as I've already mentioned it was the school holidays, it was also very noisy even after the 11pm curfew, there is a little shop on site which caters for the basics like milk, eggs bread etc. The showers and toilets are spotless. There are a couple of pubs within a few minutes walk away, we ate at the craven arms a couple of times and found the food extremely good and not too expensive. Overall if its peace & quiet you want this is not the site for you, but it is a very friendly and well managed site.

Second time we have visited masons. Both for my birthday. It's a great little site. Showers. Toilets immaculate. Couple of pubs nearby with friendly locals. We arrived on the Saturday and got our pitch sorted got the 4 dogs settled. Small Motorhome with a massive awning. Got it up no fuss. Just before the horrendous weather came. Others had trouble getting on and off the pitches due to the amount of Rain. But plenty of staff around to give A push. All in all was a great weekend apart from the wind and rain. Will definitely be going again!

WOW fantastic location although scary navigating the narrow road from Burnsall. Met a Dales mini-bus/coach and passing was a series of intricate inch by inch moves with our 10m Tag Axle motorhome - we arrived without incident but needed a beer to calm the nerves
Reception staff not particularly friendly or useful which was disappointing.
Pitch size as mentioned previously was barely sufficient to cater for our outfit & like other reviewers, we had tents pitched all around us - I thought there was a 6. 5m rule between units for safety??
On a positive note the site is situated in stunning countryside & the very local pubs were great for a meal & a beer or 2 but sadly those indulgencies were all forgotten about once we returned to the site
Too overcrowded by far, lots of noise, facilities generally poor considering the number of people on site
Had previously been to Westgate Carr Farm in Pickering where the pitches were simply huge & we couldn't help but think Mason's would be hard to beat if they simply limited the number of units/tents on site!
Will return I think but I may take some persuading

Location is stunning. Two excellent pubs and amazing walking.
Site is very cramped. Far too many caravans and awnings squashed on site. The all quiet after 11pm is not enforced or respected. Friday night revellers still going hard at it at 1AM with the last of them quietening down at 3AM. It's not good enough and I'm tired of this behaviour at camp sites.
Got home on Saturday morning absolutely worn out from lack of sleep. I have asked for a refund.

The location of this site couldn't be more perfect. You could get out of your car and not need to get back in it for an entire week if you were so inclined. Excellent foodie pubs nearby (Red Lion in Burnsall and Craven Arms in Appletreewick), a smal shop on site with the essentials and fresh bread and croissants to order. Little kids will LOVE the very shallow river for paddling, rope swinging and catching fish, older kids (ahem) will love the rapids (not too crazy) and the rope swings over the deeper parts a little further down. GORGEOUS walks of the surrounding dales and loads of stuff a short drive away if it rains and you do want to get out and explore.
Things it has that others don't? Location - waterside, flat paths and hills, heated floors and piped birdsong in the bathrooms, lovely caring owners who really look after the site, hairdryer and straighteners in the bathroom.
Two TINY improvements could be made - slightly bigger pitches or opening up the other field for campers (there must be a reason they don't do this though) and a canopy over the washing up area. Maybe a play/ climbing area so the kids have somewhere to meet others when the water is too cold, but then all this would just make it too perfect and then we'd never get in.
I'd prefer it if you didn't go. I wish it were our own little secret.

This is a very nice campsite, with lovely flat pitches and good views of the Dales. It is however, very crowded, and the pitches are very squashed together, meaning that you are literally face to face with your neighbours. We had booked 2 pitches, for our 2 tent group, and at the time of booking were asked to specify the exact dimensions of our tents which we did. When we arrived, we were shown to our pitch, and it was far too small for the 2 tents we had booked, and the adjoining party had 4 tents on a 2 tent pitch, overlapping our pitch by at least 1. 5 metres. We weren't initially offered an alternative pitch, and were told that there was plenty of room, but clearly there wasn't. The manager whom I spoke to was less than polite, and her customer service skills left a lot to be desired. After a lot of discussion, she agreed to move us to an alternative pitch, which was great.
The facilities were very clean and modern and there was a large field for the kids to run around and play in. The river walks from the campsite were amazing. It was quite pricey for the lack of open space between tents.
Please be aware when you book that you will be squashed into a pitch, which is ok if you don't mind getting friendly with your neighbours!

Just returned from what should have been a three night break but the weather got the better of us, the site is very nice the toilet block was kept as clean as it could have been due the rain they were lovely and warm due to the under floor heating. The dish washing area could do with being under cover but did have plenty of hot water. There are two nice pubs within easy walking distance. Staff were nice on our arrival. It it out of the way for shops but they do sell items in their own shop on site but I took every thing I needed. The campsite got quite full and it wasn't long before the footballs came out even in the rain so kids being kids started playing with the balls hit the tents, cars and even broke my windbreak so I complained to the parents and was told they are only kids. It's I bit different when its their tent it's hitting. It wasn't only us who had to complain, we were also told via a text message that because we were in a group of 3 or more we had to pay a extra £120 refunded when we left but on arrival it was never asked for. We all had dogs and like to do some hiking but on our first walk out we found the dales not to be very dog friendly every gate onto the hills we were told no dogs allowed at all, not even on a lead, so we ended up walking along the river bank even there it said dog must be on a lead.

My family and I all went glamping. We heard of masons campsite from a family friend and not long after getting told about it we booked for a family of 16 which meant we hired 4 tents.
When we got there we were very surprised how clean and tidy the site itself was. The reason for that is because we've been to a few campsites in the past that hasn't had the best appearances but the appearance on this campsite was pristine.
The tent inside was very cute and also very cosy and warm due to the fact there's little fires in them however, it did fill the tent up with a lot of smoke so then we did have to open the zip on the tent, In order for the smoke to go out which also meant the tent would get cold. There's 2 beds in each tent, it would either be a single and a double or two doubles also they was a large bean bag. The beds we're like mattresses that folded up into a sofa which went over 10 inch off the floor. In the tent there was: chairs, pillows, blankets, head torches, candles, kindling and fire lighters provided. The staff would come round each tent daily filling the metal box up with firelighters and kindling which was very helpful.
The toilet block was very clean and all my family we're very happy with the cleanliness of the the toilets etc however, in the showers they we're nowhere to put your toiletries, other than the floor and also the same goes to where the sinks we're, the only place you could put toiletry bags was on the side next to the sinks which would mean the bags would get wet with the little amount of space they was.
The shop that was on the campsite was very handy however, the prices on most things in the shop we're extortionate so that meant we had to go elsewhere to get the few things we needed.
The staff at first we're very welcoming but when night time fell, the staff go round the whole campsite telling everyone to be quiet which is understandable however, it did come across that little bit rude. As there was such a big group of us they did come to our tent very often and as we were all sat round the fire pit we hired one member of staff did come round with a bucket of water and put the fire out. My family and I wasn't too happy about that but the rules are the rules and we did then all get into our tents and went to sleep.
Overall personally I think the stay was amazing and I would definitely go back and also spread the word to friends and family. I would like to thank the staff for such a fab stay and I can't wait to book our next stay.

Was really looking forward to our first visit to this site. Had to pay a booking fee of 2. 50 and an extra 8 quid for the sat and Sunday nights as we have a twin wheeler caravan and apparently we needed a bigger pitch. We were shown to our bigger pitch (10 x 10 m) by a member of staff. As darkness set in people were still coming in and pitching up. There was not one light on this site. Went to the pub came back had a tent pitched about a foot away from the caravan, complained in the morning and was told they would ask them to move. Went out for a couple of hours came back tent still there and a caravan had appeared at the other side with very little space between us, my husband went to the office and was told we were on the wrong pitch (whose fault was that ?). We got a full refund and off we went. The staff were very nice and helpful toilets were fine, but the site was very disorganised and people were just pitching anywhere it seemed with no thought to others. We ended up surrounded and hemmed in. This is a site more suitable for tents. My final comment is the last 3 to 4 miles of road to get there is very very narrow and twisty just thankful we didn't meet anyone coming the other way !
