Returned to Masons over August bank holiday weekend having vowed last year that we wouldn't go back over a busy weekend period.
We were in a group of 6 families and celebrating a friends birthday, hence the breaking of the vow! We were in the main campsite and not the additional field.
Weather was atrocious; extremely wet and at times this caused large pooling of water. The site became very muddy and our poor tent is in need of a major clean up.
As you would imagine on August bank holiday the site was full, coupled with the weather it did feel like a festival.
Having left a review previously I won't go into great detail this time, save to say that I really won't return on a busy weekend again.
It is a lovely campsite but there were simply not enough toilets and showers to cope with the amount of people. The conditions were pretty horrendous and still the facilities were only cleaned once a day. They did get very dirty and smelly.
Given that it is very expensive and you pay for every conceivable extra some more investment in facilities and cleaning is not too much to ask.
Location is fab, ate out at the Craven Arms on Sunday evening (all 22 of us!) which was excellent.

There isn't anything bad that I could say about this site. It was well run, and in a beautiful location. Management were helpful and friendly. Excellent pub 2 minutes away with real ale and decent food. We will definitely visit again, only next time it will be for longer than two nights. The nearby town of Grassington (4 miles) is well worth a visit, there are lots of pubs, shops and tea-rooms. Highly recommended.

In my opinion, the best campsite I've ever stayed in. We had an extra large pitch for our Montana 6 berth tent with extension and we had loads of room between us and the other campers. The owners/staff are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
The campsite is right next to a river which was amazing for our 3 dogs and the children on the site seemed to love it too! There are 2 pubs nearby- one is 5 mins walk away and the other is a pleasant stroll along the river to Burnsall. Both are amazing pubs - you will not be disappointed.
Showers/toilets are the best I've seen and even though the campsite was full on the Saturday/Sunday we still didn't have to queue.
The campsite shop stocks the forgotten essentials and the fire pits seemed very popular (but I didn't trust my Retriever to not burn his nose off trying to get to the sausages so I declined this pleasure!).
Have no mis-givings about this site. You'll love it.

What a wonderful site! We booked at quite short notice over the weekend in August, so expected it to be busy. We arrived to a lovely helpful welcome from the staff. We were asked to pitch in the large open field (which is only used a few times a year busy periods).
There wasn't many there so we pretty much had the pick of where to go. We decided next to the river as the kids would be in the river. Within a couple of hours it got very busy although not too cramped.
We were lucky as we had lovely weather so just stayed pretty much round our tent and the river. Great rope swing next to the river.
The shop/office sold basic supplies, hey will order fresh bread and newspapers ordered the day before. The toilet block has just been refurbished and very modern. Lovely and clean. Notice board with various information on it.
Both the pubs within couple of minutes waslk are lovely with lovely food.
We didn't hire firepits but did see some that people did hire, which are quite big.
Really enjoyed it, didn't want to come home! There are lots of walks around nearby. The pathway goes right along the river.
Will definitely be booking again in decent weather. We were worried about the flies, but they weren't a problem.

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday at Masons. The site, facilities and location was lovely, right next to the river - the children lived in the water - damning it, swimming in it, in the dingy and on the swing over it.
The toilet/shower block is the best that we have ever been to.
The shop is good, stocking essentials and people very friendly.
Its a shame that after paying for your pitch that we had to pay for a gazebo as well, which was kept within the boundary of our pitch.
The fire pits were an excellent addition to the experience as was toasting marshmallows.
I would highly recommend and we will be back.

So it's a pretty nice camp site lovely toilets, hair straighteners in the loos would you believe and heated to boot. Beautiful location, great views of Simon's Seat and handy for the pub. Now the downside the prices are huge it cost us fifty four quid for a tent for two nights with me, one wife and two kids. Everything is extra so it soon gets expensive, I have paid less for hotel rooms.
Now despite the price it was super busy and the pitches are pretty small so it felt more like a continental camp site than an idyllic retreat. So if you like your luxuries and your fellow human beings this is a good spot but we will seek value and solitude elsewhere.

We have stayed a Mason's a couple of times now and really like this site. The pitches are of a generous size & you really feel you can spread out. The facilities are always warm & clean with plenty of hot water. The manageress is very helpful & friendly and allowed us to change our pitch initially when we weren't happy. It's a quirky site with the office/shop in an airstream bus! If you camp in hot weather take insect repellent for the midges. There are 2 pubs close by - we prefer the closest one as it was friendlier. Visit Grassington - lovely little place about 6 miles away. My sister tells me that the Red Lion in Burnsall is very good for food. We will return next year.

We visited Masons in the May Bank Holiday, and the weather was good (but chilly) during the day and -5oc! However, the site itself was great, really relaxing and well laid out. We stayed in the overflow field, which was busy but really nice as it was full of family groups, and one big group who were highly entertaining!
The toilet blocks are nice, warm, clean and new. The owners are really friendly and were keen to remind people of the rules re; noise, which is no bad thing! On the Friday night we had dinner at the Craven Arms, good food and great beer all just a 5 minute walk away.
We did the walk to Bolton Abbey along the river which was really nice, and got the bus back. Be warned though that this is a long walk, not the 45 minutes as advertised, more like 2 hours but well worth it!
We would definitely recommend this site, and we would come back.

We have visited this site 3 times in the past and have always found it to be a peaceful haven. It is ideally situated for walking and the views are stunning.
However on our recent visit we found the site to have changed. Yes, you can now book on line but beware as there is a booking fee. Everything costs, gazebo's, fire pits, parking. Rather than being the small concern that we prefer this now appears to be a corporate affair, what a shame!
The site was rammed with people, hardly the quiet idyll that we prefer. We were unfortunate enough to be camping next door to a very large group, who had unruly children/teenagers and didn't seem to respect the 11:30 pm quiet time.
On a positive note, the showers and toilet blocks were very clean, this was despite the bad weather and the numbers of people on site.
We would only visit this site again on a midweek break and we would definitely not go back at the weekend.

We have just returned from 2 nights at this site. It wasn't long enough! It was beautiful and quirky.
The Staff were friendly and helpful. Shop for the essentials. Site and toilets immaculate. Grassington approx 4 miles away. (not to be missed).
My only criticism is that there was no where to put your soap, shampoo etc. in the shower.
The pub which is 5 minute walk away is worth a visit, the food was lovely.
We will definitely go back when we have more time. It was a lovely relaxing week end, you will not be disappointed.
