This was our 4th visit to this site.Situated in a wonderfull location by the river . We had a great time walking ,visiting Burnsall, Bolton Abbey and Grassington and couldn't keep the kids out of the river even in the rain! There are lots of other things to do in the area but the kids are quite happy to play around the site and a march up the steep hill opposite the site is a must for the view!
But and it is a BIG but the site was very noisy. For the first 2 nights we could hardly sleep because of loud music/tv noise and barking dogs. People were sat with car radios belting out music .One dog barked all night and when I went to complain the next evening the office had been closed with no one on site to sort it out until the next day (note on door!) . We loved this site and it really spoiled our holiday ,we did have 2 quiet nights out of 5 (I think I would have slept through an earthquake on the third night I was so tired , so it might have been noisy for all I know). The kids were very tired because they couldn't sleep. On the last night half the campsite flooded and people were having to move but yet again the office was closed until the following morning, so I don't know who they were supposed to go to for help . Such a shame as we really want to go back. But its pricey for a basic site and if the new owners cant keep a check on the noise then I am afraid we will be going elsewhere.
I must point out that when it is quiet it is perfect!

Did 4 nights on Mason's farm. Great site in a lovely surrounding.
The river at the back was great and the kids loved it. The views were superb and we spotted 3 deer just on the other side of the the river at the back first thing one morning.
The showers were better than I had expected from reviews although the site was busy, so queues were likely at peak times.
The mobile shop was excellent and very handy for fresh milk, bread and papers each morning.
Tested the two pubs with a walk and both were excellent and the food was spot on.
After testing the two pubs extensively, I took on the hill at the front of the site which provided a nice challenge when I climbed the peak during the one big storm we had. The view from up there was something special even though I was a drowned rat and had to take cover behind a wall until the sun baked us again.
The only gripe was it was a tad expensive at £19.50 for a family tent.

We have just got back from a two night stay at Masons. We chose this site from recommendation from friends and from reading the reviews. We used sat nav to get us there, I don't think we would have found it otherwise. It really is in the middle of nowhere. The villages nearby are so picturesque. The site is basic, showers basic, wet and hot. Toilets basic, no hand towels or dryers. The site owners are friendly. The site is a two minutes stroll away from the River Wharf which the kids can paddle in, swim in, and you can also fish in for a small charge. We had a mix of weather from brilliant sunshine where we were getting a tan to horrendous downpour - what a giggle, and our tent stayed up and dry! On the site there isn't anything to do for the children, but with the river so close by and also there is a huge field to play in.
We will be returning soon - hopefully with friends to add to the enjoyment!

We arrived Friday night and managed to pitch 3 tents before the rain set in! Saturday much better weather and improved all the time. Site clean, tidy and very well situated. All 5 showers were working, and although pressure low, water always hot. Hand dryer in the toilets would be a useful addition. Toilets / showers all clean. Noisy neighbours dealt with efficiently by eviction, much to relief of others! Mobile shop each morning a great idea, not overpriced either. Recyling a must, others should learn from this as not difficult to implement. Two local pubs were really good, good range of real ales on tap, food was really yummy, all home cooked. Fantastic area, fabulous views! Had a really nice time, will come back.

Second visit to this site. The new owners seem much more relaxed and helpful than our previous visit. We were a group of 20 with 9 pre teen kids who all love the site and nearby river.
The facilities were fairly basic but always clean and available. No queuing for the showers.
This is a great family site in a fantastic location. We will be back.

Just come back from the weekend here. I have a broken leg and am on crutches. The facilities were basic but very clean. Disabled facilities were great for me. Nice flat site. Lovely soap and hand cream in the loos but need something to dry hands on. Weather was very wet and toilet area got very wet under foot.
Gang had a lovely walk to Burnsall, (managed quite well by a 5 and 7 year old in the pouring rain). Food at New Inn was great. Pub was busy, probably due to weather but food was timely.
Would visit again, hopefully with better weather. Owners were always very helpful in person and on the phone.

Stayed here after reading reviews on this site, and weren't disappointed.
The site is basic; with only 4 showers, a small indoor cleaning area and seperate toilet block but having said all of that we never waited for a shower, always had access to the cleaning area and everything was tidy.
Our electric pitch was spacious - our 4 man dome tent and car fitted easily in the space. Other campers were adjacent and to be fair closer than we usually get, but it wasn't an issue.
The best thing about the site is the area; at the bottom of the site is the river Wharfe; a fantastic place for walking along and children to play in - ideal for dinge's. Bolton abbey is worth a visit - £5.50 to park, but the area is open till 9 and is massive, once again the river, large open playing areas, the ability to have barbecues - you can spen the whole day there.
My only 'complaint' is in relation to control of dogs on the site (the issue isn't specific to this site, its a common problem). I have nothing against dogs or people that own them, but they have to be controlled. Most sites have an 'on lead' policy - though some owners ignore this; I lost count of the times I had to pick up our 15 month old son; a one strike and your out rule should apply to all sites - dog found off the lead kick the campers out.

We only stayed for 1 night, as our 3yr old hadn't been camping before and we wanted to have a trial run before our main camping trip this year. It was a very positive one. The campsite was just the perfect, although there was'nt a playground for kids the campsit was full of families and our kids just enjoyed the company of other kids playing football, rounders as there was a large space in the middle of the tents. The atmosphere was lovely and there was lots of chit chat amoung fellow campers. The toilet block is dated but it does the job, very clean and lots of hot water, even though it was busy. Washing up facilties were good. There are 2 pubs nearby both wonderful. We didn't need a shop as we took all our provisions, but the camp has charcoal, and other bits and bobs, not food. The owners were about quite alot and very friendly and accomodating. You have to park your car away from your tent, this was good as it resticted movement of cars and no car streos could be played! Grassington is not far and its a fantastic village. We will be returning very soon as this is a great week end retreat.

Just returned from a fantastic weeks camping at masons.
I would strongly disagree with the two highly negative and stroppy comments below. The facillities were very clean throughout our stay, and as far as hot water was concerned the owners coped very well considering that the first time the boiler broke was on a bank holiday when no plumber was available. During the brief intervals hot water was available we were informed and it wouldnt be camping if every day luxuries that are taken for granted are on tap.
The bins were emptied three times during our stay and wereonly full to the brim once. Masons is the first campsite that I have ever been to where a recycling system has been implemented and actually works. All in all a fantastic week in great surroundings and on a great site.

First time visiting this site.
Really enjoyed the whole stay, impressed with how helpful and enthusiastic the new owners were.
All facilities on the site were very good and even the smallest problem was dealt with quickly and efficiently.
Surrounding area great for walking with good pub food easily accessible.
Will definitely be visiting again
