Stayed here on the last May bank holiday 2012 and had an absolute amazing time. Beautiful place - right on river bank - enough space for kids to play football etc despite being a busy weekend. Happy to take a booking of several families. Our only mistake was not to book one of their firepits on arrival as by the time we asked for one they were all out and it was blooming cold at night (pure sunshine during the day but cloudless so cold at night). We mean to return one day so will rectify that mistake.

Great little, quirky site. Staff and campers all very friendly. Laid back atmosphere but with rules to stop people taking advantage. Showers, loos etc. New, plentiful and more importantly spotless. Small on site shop stocking essentials and a bit more. Location great, right next to the river and great for walking. Lovely walk to Bolton Abbey about 4 miles away along the river. Two local pubs 5 minutes walk away from the site, both dog and child friendly and both serve good food. Would happily return and recommend.

What a beautiful area to have a caravan/campsite. We visited and stayed for a week.
The toilet facilities are beautiful. New this year I believe. In Ladies 5 showers, 5toilets, 5basins. Basins didn't have plugs, strange!they were underfloor heated and kept clean. Washing up facilities were also new, in the open air though.
When we visited the rain didn't stop for six days and the ground although muddy held quite well.
The weekend we were leaving on the Sunday there was a local beer festival and the site was jam packed with all types of units. Spoilt the ambience somewhat, would avoid that weekend of the year next time.
Village within five minutes walk holding two lovely public houses serving food. Burnsall is two miles away and walkable via the river path. A small shop, pub and tea room, beautiful place.
Overall the visit was splendid, the site very pretty if slightly overpriced for the facilities. There are no laundry or drying facilities which I would expect for that price.
The only difficulty I feel worth mentioning is the office was sporadically manned. You had to search for someone on site if you needed them, I mean within normal office hours.
A children's play area would be welcomed I am sure. We will visit again and look forward to it.
Would recommend it totally. Access a little difficult with one car width roads, but worth the hassle.

We stayed here for 3 nights over the August bank holiday with friends on 3 serviced pitches in the main camping area. (We had asked for then to all be adjacent but somehow one of us wasn't but we sorted this ourselves with some very nice help from a caravan owner who was pitched between us and offered to move!).
The pitches were huge and considering the recent rain we'd had - and continued to have over our stay - were incredibly well drained.
The facilities all looked very new and were generally kept clean - although a mop or squeegee to clean the shower floor would have been handy due to the inclement weather - and there was always plenty of hot water.
The one downside, however, was the long queues (and lack of toilet paper) for the ladies toilets and showers which was due to there simply not being enough when the adjacent field is opened to campers. This field was open over the weekend until the Monday afternoon and was literally packed. Once they'd all left there were no problems at all with queues.
We didn't purchase anything from the office/shop so can't comment upon that but the nearest alternative is a 20 minute drive away in Grassinton, at what must be the most expensive Spar in the country! Other than this the nearest supermarkets (Tesco and Morrisons) are in Skipton which is about 35/40 minutes away.
We arrived on the first evening without any ice (clearly essential for your G&T) and couldn't get any in Grassington so 'borrowed' some from the nearest pub who were happy to oblige. On that point there are a couple of pubs within a short walk of the site and both were very nice.
Our friends brought their own fire-pit and we had no issues with using it. I think the ones available on site are #15 for 3 nights hire with the first bag of logs free.
The site was very quiet from the advertised 11. 30pm 'no noise' time and was very safe for the kids to roam around on during the day and evening.
The site is in a very picturesque valley with a stream running along its bottom edge which was great for the kids to go exploring and paddling and generally messing about in. Its also a great location from which to explore the rest of the North Yorkshire Moors from.
All in all, we had a great time here but it would have been excellent had there been more shower and toilet facilities which, given the quite expensive rates charged doesn't seem too much to ask! And yes, despite that we will go back!

Just got back from a 4 day stay here and will most certainly be returning soon! The site is a little hard to find but well worth the effort.
The check in is easy with the owners/caretakers being very accommodating to most needs. The valley that the site sits in is beautiful, with the river running at the end of the site always full of laughing children(and adults)very child friendly.
The site would really benefit from the addition of a children's playground, if this was the case it would be just about the most perfect campsite we have visited.
Good bike trails/canoeing all around the area with plenty of places to visit, the village of burnsall just a mile walk down the river is as unspoilt a place as you could wish for, you fully expect to see miss marple riding around on her bike
nice pub too plenty of atmosphere and good priced food and beer. Nearby skipton is a great place to stock up on the local fruit and veg at its market it also has a free museum at the new town hall.
All in all a really good campsite in the most breathtaking scenery you could want. Try it you'll fall in love with it!

We stayed two night here last weekend.
The booking process wasn't the easiest or smoothest and did get things off to a bad start, but we had a great time at a great site.
The scenery is second to none, with a lovely little stream behind. We were able to get a fire pit with free wood, and it was lovely and family orientated during the day, and nice and quiet at night.
Toilets and showers were clean and well looked after, ghds wired in ladies take note, 20p a go.
Could have done with a few more toilets though, as it was a fairly big, busy site.

First trip to Masons, start of the school holidays and we went Weds to Sunday. Had an EHU pitch on the main camping area.
Weather was iffy when we arrived but soon perked up for the rest of our stay. Owners were very helpful and there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere on the site. We had 3 children with us, our 2 plus a friend and the site is spot on for kids.
Toilets and showers are thoroughly modern and in excellent condition.
We really enjoyed the first couple of days during the week as the site is located by the river with plenty of safe areas for the kids to play.
It changed somewhat as Friday evening approached. There is a large field, used for games etc during the week, adjacent to the main campsite. This field is restricted in use by the national park authority and the owners can only open it a certain number of days per year. Clearly end of July is peak season so the field was open.
It more than doubled the capacity of the site and put a strain on facilities. I am being uber critical as the site is also very expensive so you would expect a high standard. By Sunday morning the lovely facilities were dirty and smelly and a good 20 minute queue for showers etc.
I would return to Masons as it is only 40 minutes from home and it is a lovely site. I would make sure however that I returned when the additional field was not in use.
Ideal location, very pretty site, kids enjoyed the river and it was all very laid back. I think that they need additional facilities for the weekends when the other field is in use (or charge less for the premium pitches. )

This site is worth visiting for the toilet and shower facilities alone. Ultra modern, dead posh and always clean.
Some reviewers have mentioned the lack of space and I'm inclined to agree. We came with a family who have a motor-home and, on adjacent pitches, we arranged things so we were awning-to-awning and I managed to squeeze our car on the grass in front of our van. This gave us some space to share, about twelve feet wide.
Normally, in the strip of grass we were on, it would be van, car, van, car and so on and the space between pitches would be, effectively, about three feet.
But. It's a grand little place. Couldn't be more picturesque. The roads in and out, and for a few miles in all directions, are basically single-track with passing points and a tad bouncy and winding - not ideal country for the nervous tow-car driver.
Views - exceptional. Surroundings - fantastic. Climb the steep hill across the road for a superb panoramic view - well worth the exhaustion.
If you want, say, a loaf of bread, the nearest real shop is in Grassington - six miles away. This place is truly the back of beyond, but it's excellent for that reason.
By 11pm, there was total silence on the site and the grass areas coped quite well with the odd days of very heavy rain.
Will definitely be back but would probably take the tent next time.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at this superb campsite which accommodates tents, trailer tents and caravans. We had a large pitch with plenty of space.
The toilet /shower block 5* quality - couldn't find fault with the facilities! Office open 9-8 with a small shop selling milk, chocolate and drinks etc but shop expensive so get your provisions elsewhere.
We hired a firepit which was great in the evenings and we got a roaring fire going.
Two pubs in Appletreewick and another pub in Bursall which is 25 mins walk along the river. Small town of Grassington is 15 mins drive with a fantastic butchers, bakery etc.
The campsite is in a gorgeous pastoral area of Yorkshire - lovely views and the river very close. If its hot take some insect repellent to ward off the midges.
We will most certainly return to this lovely site.

It's been a couple of years since we have stayed here. The new owners have completely re done the toilet and shower block and very new and good.
The office and shop, selling a few things, are in an airstream caravan.
The main field is a bit over crowded, but we stayed in the overflow field where there was buckets of room.
No hassle or noise from anyone.
Great location views and walks, two good pubs within 5 and 10 min walk with good beer and food.
Kids loved the site as right on the river for crayfish an d bullhead fishing. All put back, no doubt to be caught again the next day.
One cost to the lovely location next to the river, was the migies. First and last thing so be prepared, but not too bad.
