This was our first ever caravanning trip and I don't think we could have gone anywhere better. Well placed for exploring the area this is a lovely clean and tidy site with spotless facilities and a great(reasonably priced)shop. The couple running the site were really friendly and helpful. Our dog had a great time as the site was full of rabbits!

Our first camping weekend and I cant think of an easier place to start with. Ok, the field does slope a bit (15 degrees) but we coped although I think people sharing a double air bed may roll a bit through the night. The showers, toilets were splendid, and normally I HATE public toilets.
The shop was very useful, ice packs were frozen for me by the helpful warden after the shop had closed. Play area kept children amused and was very safe.
Only negative was that it is quite a busy campsite and we were near the road so there were cars going through till late at night and from early in the morning. And there was a queue for the washing up area but what can u expect on a Sunday morning.
All in all a lovely weekend and best of all we had good weather. Who else can say that this year!?

This was our first camping experience in the UK and we absolutely loved this site. Our first taste of Newhaven was calling and booking our stay and they were so courteous. All of England was under a warning for lots of rain and we were worried about pitching a huge tent in the rain so we headed up early to beat it and was completely prepared to pay for an extra day just to set up early. We were so happy when told to go ahead and pitch as they understood why. It was recommended to us to pitch on the upper hill at the flat section because the lower section may be too mushy already. All I heard was flat and that's where we went. It wasn't very flat but we thought we just needed to get pitched.
There was so much rain, the mud was unreal and being on a slope with rain and mud is not a good mix. Late Sat we got a chance to check out the lower section thinking they must be flooded out, only to find out they weren't and some weren't muddy at all. So I would certainly recommend the lower section over the top field even when raining. If you look at the picture, the lower section is at the top of the image. The campsite itself is set amongst mature trees and you get a nice feeling of being outdoors.
There are 2 toilet/shower blocks and both were kept immaculate, amazing considering all the mud. Very nice and updated. Not many showers, but never saw a waiting line. The lower block has an area for dish washing. Also in the lower section is a play area for children, picnic benches and a double built in BBQ and some nice flat areas for playing.
The upper block is very clean and has beautiful flowers, looks like an old cottage, very unique.
There are plenty of fresh water taps around and easy access for tossing your trash.
We really loved this site and will visit again and hope you will also. You can't beat the price and there's not alot of extra add ons. It only cost us, a family of 4 with a huge Outwell Nebraska XXL £22 for the weekend. What a wonderful place to kick off our first camping trip in the UK.

Second visit here, both times with D of E groups. Stayed on the bottom field both times, once with glorious weather, less so this weekend.
The site is in a good location, staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and facilties are clean and well looked-after.
Slight downside is that it's been very busy on both our visits, and so a bit noisy, but overall an excellent site.

This was our first camping holiday as a family the site was very clean the showers were clean, free and large enough for a family to use together if needed, the staff couldn't have been anymore friendly or helpful there was a park to keep the kids good & there was also an area to have a bbq. On the whole we really had a great time here and are returning again soon. To sum it up I would say; friendly, helpful & reasonably priced.

Fantastic site very friendly nothing too much trouble. Visited as a large group all families all accommodated together, with plenty of space generous pitch sizes. Didnt feel cramped at all. Even the dismal weather didn't spoil our week. Very safe for children, lots of space for them to play. Camping pitch very central to toilet/shower block, great dishwashing facility covered over and plenty of hot water. Clean toilet/showers plenty of hot water kept clean (a hard job considering the amount of mud/rain). FREE SHOWERS. Great shop stocking all the necessities at reasonable prices, freezer for freezing ice packs. Great location for visiting all the Peak District. We cant wait to re-visit in the summer holidays and hopefully avoid the rain this time.

Lovely site, great staff, but only two showers in the bottom field which seemed to be used by two fields. Dont know how many showers were in the top block but it didnt look that big. Constant queues and it was a fairly quiet weekend. Even still it was a lovely site. But we wont be returning.

A lovely site with warm friendly staff. Was very quiet well kept and great facilities. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice relaxing time. Pitch was nice and flat but would recommend strong pegs though. Other than on-site shop which does stock what you need, the nearest shops or takeaways are a good 10 miles in either direction. Take your essentials. Had a lovely time and will return,

A lovely site divided into four main area's, up the top are mobile homes, then there is a sloping field for tents only, below this is a sloping field with hardstandings and hookups for caravans only and finally there is the bottom field which is pretty flat. The camping field is on quite a slope, I do not think it would be easy to spend a comfortable night there. The main caravan field was pretty tightly packed in regimented rows and it did look a bit of a squash. However the bottom field where we were is lovely. there are a number of hook ups and hard standings for caravans and then there is plenty of grass for tents etc without hook ups. There are two nice, clean toilet blocks both with free large showers with plenty of hot water (but sometimes not much pressure). The owners are very helpful and the whole site had a lovely friendly atmosphere. The site was nice and quiet at night despite there being quite a large caravan rally in the bottom field when we were there and is very tranquil during the day. It is very popular with families, so if you have kids there are plenty of others for them to play with. Since almost everyone who is going to be there will have a car, its location is ideal for getting to all parts of the White Peak and the Tissington Trail passes close by for those of a cycling disposition.

Booked this site last minute in August bank holiday week, and stayed for 2 nights with my children. First time we have been camping, owners couldn't be more helpful. Lovely free showers and the price was very reasonable. Shop was well stocked and very reasonably priced. This site is a bit remote but if you have a car no problems. Very well lit and very clean. Cannot recommend enough as everybody on site spoke to me and my children which I appreciated. Everybody must visit this site very ideal for campers even though it is on a slope, please go will definitely be going back myself with my kids!
