My wife and I chose to go to Newhaven Caravan & Camping Park in the Peak District, for a well earned rest, and for a long weekend. From the start we were made most welcome. We were shown to are pitch by one of the wardens who was most helpful. We found the site to be clean & tidy and was well maintained, the toilet block were spotless and even had a notice on to say D/E campers please leave your muddy boots out side. There's a play area for the kids /shop and a small burger van witch opens in the evenings. Pet are also made welcome. My wife and I would like to say thank you and to say what a great time we had, and also that this site is a credit to the owners and the two wardens and yes we would go again.

Very large site in a really good part of the Peak District not far from the Tissington Cycle Trail and the high peak trail.
The toilets were nice and clean, the grass good and we had no problems with setting up. We went of a weekend and there was a snack bar on site in the evenings that sold burgers and butties. There was a little shop for necessities and plenty of places for the kids to play including a small park. The site is a mix of statics, tourers and tents although I wouldn't have fancied some of the tent areas as there was quite a hill on one side of the camp. All in all a really good place to stay. About 20 mins from Matlock with it's almost seaside type facilities

Amazing place wish I had stayed longer, we stayed for 1 night with our camper van, on arrival staff were very friendly and helpful, took us to our pitch, which was a hook up pitch, shingle but large in size, site and toilets etc was very clean, tidy and well kept. Campsite is massive and has a one way system which is easy to navigate. The campsite is near Buxton so close to everything you need. There is a shop on site with laundry room behind with lots of tourist leaflets, well organised and maintained. Shop on site has everything you need from food toys to camping accessories. Our kids loved the playground too and the wide open spaces of this campsite. Will definitely be back for a longer visit.

We did a one night cycle and camp (which I've never done before). Our tent was very small, so we only paid about £9 for a two man tent with no car (just bikes). Very good value.
Shop was well stocked. Showers were hot, and there was a dry area to keep your clothes and get dressed.
We had a very friendly welcome, and found the staff pleasant. They even phoned to book a table for us at the local restaurant.
The top field was a bit sloping, which wasn't too bad for us in such a small tent. If I went again with my normal 'big' tent I'd request a pitch on the lower field.

I got the impression that this site concentrates on their static and seasonal tourer business at the expense of the tourers. We had booked specific pitches for a group of friends (having previously visited the site for a reccy) but given other pitches that were unsuitable and inadequate. The staff in the shop had no recollection of our booking requirements. The so called hard standing was neither flat nor level nor very hard. Showers were basic with only 2 large rooms in the block. This is the first place I've had to wait for a shower. Only one hook for hanging clothes is a bit stingy given the size of the shower cubicle which could easily accommodate a minibus party. No facilities for mopping the floor means that the floors were constantly muddy. The dishwashing area was good as is the access to the site and pitches. Why they pitch tents on a slope when there are other flat areas available I can't imagine. Friendly and helpful site staff but a don't seem to have a clue about allocating suitable pitches. Definitely will not be visiting here again.

Just arrived back from a 3 night stay.
The site warden was lovely and really helpful.
The site was well kept, however the toilets and showers were a bit of a let down; chipped tiles and at times felt a bit grubby but it is a large site and it was Bank Holiday.
There are two play areas with swings, could possibly do with a few more things for children to play on.
The traffic from the road was noisy but didn't bother us too much. The staff often drove around the site keeping checks which was reassuring. Would probably return.

Lovely little site. This is our second visit. Very low key in lovely surroundings. Toilets are well kept only annoying thing I have noticed is when campers don't clean up after themselves so muddy boot prints in showers but there is a mop and bucket provided so no fault of the campsite.
Little shop is good and provides good basics and a good price. Lovely surroundings. We visited here with 4 teenagers in total and they spent all their time walking in the surrounding area or 'playing' in the trees around the site so although not a lot to do if depends on what you are used to.
Very friendly service from the owners. Lots of families with small children. There is a few swings which seems to occupy them.
Really lovely site. We hope to go again before the summer is over.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay here. When we arrived we experienced hale stone and bad rain whilst we tried to hitch up. The site manager was so friendly and helpful, Firstly he showed us to our pitch then went back to get some bricks to help us get levelled as some of the pitches are on a hill.He then went the whole hog and hitched up for us as we were still new to this, and with 2 young kids and bad weather his help was welcomed. Throughout the stay he was friendly and made sure we were okay.
The site shop sold your everyday basics. We were situated not too far from the shower blocks, which were reasonably clean, which was hard to keep on top of due to the weather and the pitches getting muddy also the hikers seem to show little respect and shred toilet paper in all the toilet cubicles no respect at all. Showers were hot and welcoming spacious cubicles. Would definitely come back due to the friendliness of the staff, the site is in easy reach to Buxton, Ashbourne, Bakewell. Tissington trails and Dovedale steppingstones is well worth a walk stunning views. Also recommend to eat at the Jug and Glass just a bit up the road and the Duke of York, you might need to book as it gets busy but do a lovely steak. Never went in the carriages after reading reviews on here about expense but speaking to some of the people who regularly use the site said it is still rather expensive. Thankyou to all of Newhaven for making our stay a positive one

We have stayed here a few times in a tent over the years and really enjoyed it. We recently upgraded to a caravan and we decided to go back.
The first weekend was great, just as we remembered it. The second time wasn't quite so enjoyable due to a long term resident who wasn't a fan of children which made our family holiday quite unbearable and we were glad to leave.
The site itself is very nice and large with plenty of space between the pitches. The toilet blocks were well kept.
There are two small play areas for the kids, one of which could be seen from our caravan. The on site shop sells most things you would need.
We would have given this site more stars if we had reviewed it after our first visit this year but I am afraid it has plummeted since our second visit.

We stayed here for a 8 night break and I must say we really enjoyed it, the staff were friendly and helpful (even gave us a jump start when I flattened the battery).
There is 2 parks for the kids and walks in the forest all within the camp, the toilets were cleaned daily, the shop stocks the basics and had newspapers available every day.
One of the tent fields does slope a bit but if you book a electric hook-up pitch it is fine.
The toilets and showers are always well stocked with soap etc. And there was plenty of hot water (this includes the pot washing area)
The carriages restaurant across the road is quite expensive, however there are plenty of little village pubs around that serve good food at reasonable prices.
A visit to Hulme End and Wetton Mill is well advised.
