We spent a relaxing weekend here and really enjoyed it. The site wasn't too packed, but I don't think there are enough showers to cope with busy weekends. The toilet blocks were always clean and the staff were really friendly. The site is attractive, but the location was not as nice as other sites. All walks were a car journey, but well worth it. The local pub is only a ten minute walk. Our only issue was the sloping pitch. It seemed that most of the site was sloping, so we didn't get much sleep and were tired for the entire stay. Overall I would recommend the site - especially since it is very reasonablt priced.

Nice pleasant site situated almost exactly half way between Buxton and Ashbourne - great location for exploring the surrounding area. We turned up early on the day, and could pick our own pitch, none were marked - the site was fully booked, but didn't seen over packed which was nice. We were placed on the top part of the site near the shop and toilet block - ground had quite a slope to it. Overall, nice well maintained site.

We spent three nights at Newhaven, and wouldn't hesistate to go back. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Toilets were kept clean and showers were free. (no charge, as mentioned in previous review, unless this was just the top toilet block, which we didn't use?). Childrens play area a bit muddy. Only criticism, more than one hot tap between three sinks in the pot washing area would have been useful.

Arrived for a long weekend, this was our first camping trip with our new tent, although the weather wasn't very good we thoroughly enjoyed it, there were two shower and toilet blocks which were cleaned every day and the showers were free, there was a bit of a walk to the washing up area which had plenty of hot water, there was also a small shop with everyday essentials. The only downside was that we had to pitch on the sloping field as we were only there for three nights the flat field was for campers stopping five nights and above. There was a children's play area which the kids loved, I would definitely go again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It was really clean and pleasant place and an excellent base to all the sights. Dovedale was one of my kids favourite, climbing up Thorpe Cloud and paddling in the Dove. The field we were on was very slightly sloping next to caravans but it didn't cause a problem. There was another field which was level and one that was quite slopped which I was glad we weren't on. People who run camp site very friendly and helpful. You'll definitely receive a warm welcome. All in all an excellent holiday and will go back next year as there is still lots more to see.

Just returned from a 4 night stay. It rained almost the whole time, but we still enjoyed this site. The lower field definitely best for tents. Found all the facilities above average. Excellent for exploring Buxton, Ashbourne and Matlock. Within easy reach of Castleton, for all the caverns. Big downside for us was our visit to Carriages Restaurant, where we were charged £87 for a 2 course meal for 2 adults and 3 children. Hubby still recovering!

Just back from newhaven. What a beautiful caravan site, a bit packed in but not too bad. The showers/toilets were very clean and free hot showers allday was a rare treat. The owners were very friendly and the onsite shop was well equipped but not with the things you need, although they do sell beer and wines, and a small freezer with sausages and burgers, bread, milk etc. The wild life seemed tame and plentiful which kept the dog entertained, and the site is ideally situated for Bakewell/buxton and matlock. You must visit the tram museum we had a great day out at the 1940' themed weekend.

I have actually been here twice. The first time when the site allowed the 4*4 club I belong to to host a 'meet' there - on that occasion I only attended for the day. The second time was recently when I dragged out van up there to get my sister in law out with a trailer tent that she has but hadn't used for a while.
Very pleasant site, but very little to do immediately in the vicinity (unless you want to take your 4*4 green laneing!).
the second visit was only an overnight, and due to other family members joining us and alcohol being consumed my exact memory's of the showers/toilets are a bit hazier than they might otherwise be, but everyone enjoyed the site and nothing stood out.
Nice site shop selling the basics.and some not so basic stuff!
good site, nice people!

Great site, lovely location, nice and level. Showers and toilets spotless. Would maybe benefit from a few more things on the children's play park, but its such a nice site, the kids seemed happy enough anyway. Price wise, exceptional, good pub across the road with superb food. Definitely be back again!

This site is in a great location for visiting the Peak District. It's well looked after and the toilets and showers are clean. There are just 3 sinks for washing up so you sometimes have to queue. The area to pitch your tent has quite a slope - be sure to pitch at the top or your tent and/or car will be bombarded with footballs, frisbee's and the odd bike or two! Although this is a lovely site we didn't find the peace and tranquillity we were hoping for. If you have kids they'll have a great time here, if like us you don't I wouldn't recommend visiting in the school holidays - check out the adult only sites!
