We have just returned from Newhaven caravan park where we have spent a most enjoyable 9 nights over the Easter school holidays. The site is kept immaculate by the hardworking staff who are about daily for a smile and a chat offering tourist advice too. The shower blocks seemed newly painted and were kept clean and tidy with plenty of hot water for showers. My 10 year old soon made new friends on the park, a few swings and a climbing frame and a place to play football with a small goalpost, we hardly saw him! There is an undercover dishwash area which we used for washing our BBQ trays, again kept immaculate. There is a laundry, a tourist information room and a small shop, plenty of bins and a recycling area too. It is in superb location for visiting the tourist attractions in the area. We visited Ashbourne, Buxton, Matlock/Bath, Chesterfield, Bakewell, Tissington, Derby and Chatsworth House all within easy reach. The nearest supermarket was Morrison's at Buxton. There were many roadside eating establishments around but as the weather was good we chose to BBQ!There is still more for us to discover in the area so a return visit to the site will be needed in the not too distant future hopefully.

Plus points- the shower and toilet blocks are immaculate, we were in a camper an and my daughter and family in a tent and my second daughter and family in a tourer, the site is quite hilly, especially for tents, but the grassed areas were kept clean, neat and tidy. But the big snag for us was the so called 2 play parks, which consisted of one worn out set of swings and the other one a bit bigger with a small old climbing frame metal, and another row of swings, it was a big let down for our six grandchildren, so we won, t be visiting again unfortunately

I visited Newhaven with my daughter, Sunday to Monday, (£15) it was very quiet as most were packing up and going home. The site is lovely, well maintained and the lady was lovely and helpful and showed me where to pitch. The only problem with the tent pitching areas is that it is on a slope, so the flattest areas were nearest to the road. The toilets and shower facilities were very clean although I did not shower because it was too cold to do so. Drove into Matlock the next day and as far as Chattsworth house.
Friendly people on site. The play area could do with more things, like a slide. Spinning wheel.
I would visit again, if slightly cheaper to pitch, and if there was more for kids to do, but overall was impressed with the site. Nice, clean and tidy. Pity the weather was poor, things always look better when the sun shines.

We had a wonderful weekend at Newhaven, our pitch was a little sloped but nothing we couldn't handle. The toilets appeared to have been cleaned every time I went in there! Handy take-away van we ate from one evening and again the next morning, friendly service and yummy chips. We spent a lovely day in Bakewell and another in Matlock. Our son loved the play area and the staff were friendly. The on-site shop stocked essentials and ice-creams. We would definitely return

We went on the bank holiday weekend so it was very busy with families and tents.
The site was nicely laid out and sheltered by large trees around the perimeter. The warden and staff were very friendly and helpful.
There was a very good snack van serving fish, pies, chips etc, plus breakfast. They also did a hog roast on Sunday evening which was a great success.
Unfortunately, due to the wet weather preceding our visit, the grass was very wet so walking the dog became a messy affair.
There were four people in our group in two caravans and we will certainly use this site again. It's location makes it ideal for visiting places like Ashborune, Buxton and Matlock.
Our only criticism would be the shower block. There were only two showers in the ladies block which meant a queue every morning. They were big showers so people with small children could take them in with them, but with the amount of people on the site it seemed a bit daft to have only two. The other problem was that because it was so wet the floor was very dirty and muddy. Sites we've visited in the past tend to have a mop and bucket available so people can mop out the shower floor when they've finished, but there was no such facility here. One final point was that there was a notice warning of very hot water and boy were they right! I can't understand why they don't have sinks with mixer taps, particularly when they have so many young children on the site.
Other than that, the site was really nice and I would not hesitate to recommend it, but just make sure you choose to have your shower at a time when there isn't a queue!

Just returned from a lovely stay at this site, the site itself is spotless the owners and wardens work hard to keep it lovely and tidy. We found it to be a lovely, peaceful site ideal for kids as it was so safe, there is a small play area where the kids seemed to gather to play. The shower and toilet block was lovely and clean with lots of hot water as was the pot wash area and again lots of hot water. A food van on site opens wed-sat evenings serving great home cooked meals with lots of choice ( not just burgers and chips) and does a great full English on weekend mornings, great idea as the nearest food stops are a drive away. Good little shop on site sells all basic needs (including alcohol). Overall a great retreat which we will be returning to soon. Thanks to the staff for being so helpful and thanks to the 2 ladies in the food van for some tasty food :-)

Nice friendly welcome on arrival and escorted to our pitch where we were shown where everything was.
Pitch was slightly sloping, which caused me to 'chock up' the camp bed. Pitch was easy to peg out and was very well drained.
Pitch was slightly too small for our tent (Vango Icarus 600 with front canopy) which meant we were slightly close tot he tent next door. Fortunately they left the next day but were replaced the following day while we were out. These pitched way too close and were about 5 feet from our front entrance and they had room to pitch at least 15 foot away, but decided that their need to corral themselves in the other side was more important than safety. Also they were so close that all their BBQ fumes were coming in our tent - luck for us we had a side door to open.
Apart from this the site was clean and the owners friendly. There was an issue with one shower block when someone had an 'accident' in the showers - but this was sorted out immediately and very efficiently.
Play area for the kids was on site and there was a burger van from Wednesday to Sunday serving tasty meals.
Small shop and information point and laundry facilities on site.
Nearest shops quite a drive away, but excellent if your into walking and cycling.
Not the place to camp though if you dislike daddy long legs - several in the canopy each the size of your hand!

VERY GOOD! Clean, quiet, affordable, well managed, excellent facilities. Near tissington trail (1mile away). Go to dove dales stepping stones for picnic with children (3 to 4 miles away) fabulous! Bakewell really close, lovely place. Shame local pub was shut for renovation but nothing to do with site. Good shop on site, fast food van if you want, the regular guests with statics/tourers are nice people and compliment the site.
What more do you want!
Keep up the good work newhaven :)

You arrive at the site down a long tree line drive. First impressions are good, the top field is very sloping, seems to be used a lot by school DOE and can get quite full at weekends. A little less of a slope on the EHU field, a few tent pitches mainly tourers with a fairly flat area at the lower end mixture of units. There is a small shop and 2 toilet shower blocks, although clean could do with updating and could be insufficient for busy periods. The location in Newhaven means you are a little isolated so a night out means you have to use the very expensive Italian restaurant next door or drive to the local in Biggin. The local main roads mean you do get some road noise from early morning but does make a good base for the Tissington trail and surrounding areas. Llam is a lovely village well worth visiting. Although we enjoyed our stay don't think that we would re visit as although quite during the week we found weekend extremely noisy with people drinking heavily and children playing till well after midnight, seems no one is enforcing the 10. 30pm limit. Don't want to be a party pooper but we like to get some sleep
