Lovely location and very clean site. Located by a river with lots of wildlife to see. Rabbits and Ducks running round the site.
Toilet blocks need updating but adequate.
Warden Managers were helpful and friendly but the only critism I have was that the Assistant Wardens were very miserable and made you feel uncomfortable, not what you would expect from Camping and Caravaning club site.
Lots of lovely walks with local pubs serving good meals nearby. The George V1 in Hayfield served a good selection of reasonably priced meals (very enjoyable) and the staff were very friendly.

Just come back from this site and had a really nice couple of nights there. The site is really quiet and peaceful and it was great on an evening to sit back, relax and watch the abundance of rabbits running all over the field. We didn't venture too far afield but there's a nice walk along the river into Hayfield itself which has all of the shops you would need.
Two very minor gripes:
1 - The shower block could do with some updating. There are only 3 showers per block (one block per sex) which isn't that many for 80+ pitches and the showers are a bit 'jaded'. Saying that though, they were always clean which is a bonus.
2 - The toilet block shuts between 11-12:30 for cleaning. I understand that this needs doing to keep the toilets useable, but it is a slight pain (having two small children) when all toilets onsite close at the same time. Previous sites we've been to stagger the closing times of the two blocks.
So all in all, it's a lovely site if you just want to get away from it all (no EHU onsite at all) and you don't mind the basic facilities.

This Campsite was in a fabulous location.
Pitches were mostly flat and were plenty large enough. To have our tent and car on. We were really lucky to be able to choose our pitch.
The wardens give out the rules and regs of the site on arrival but I must say the one about ball games etc is NOT adhered to. We arrived back to find a group of children playing cricket with the stumps very very close to our car. Frisbees also landed on our tent and car.
The Wardens came straight past and didn't ask them to move at all or to stop.
The showers and toilets were perfectly adequate and a coin operated hairdryer gave loads of time for 20pence.
The Sportsman pub was really great particularly for breakfast! Just about a 1 - 2 min walk from the site.
Easy access to Kinder as well as Castleton - Mam tor and further afield in the area.
We had a great stay only marred by a little rain.
Would go again but perhaps pitch away from where these games are likely to be played!

We visited the site with the hope of getting away from it all for the weekend so that we could face the following week feeling refreshed and chilled out! We got exactly that and more. The site is situated in the heart of all that is beautiful about this country, the sound of the river Sett nearby as you drift of to sleep just adding to the experience like icing on very nice cake. The site is close (less than a mile walk along the river) to the lovely village of Hayfield which has an abundance of Pubs, a Bistro and a couple of shops of which my favourite was an old style fruit and veg shop. There is a park on the way into the villiage which is fantastic for the kids it has everything you'd expect a park to have as well as a clean sandpit (couldn't find one of those in many places), tennis courts and a cricket pitch. The shower blocks were clean but if I could make one suggestion it would be to take a seat or something similar in with you to put all your things on, as there is only a small dry area and the seat they provide is always soaking wet also people walking in with outdoor shoes on cause the floor in the dry area to be gritty, a non slip mat would sort that out, and perhaps the showers are more suited to a weekend break than a weeks holiday. Everything else is spot on, the ladies on reception are lovely, the location is idylic and I will be going back and back and back.

What a lovely site. Really peaceful and well laid out. We had a lovely flat pitch. Pub across the road, which lets you take your dog in (The Sportsmans). You can walk to the village along the river, few more pubs, shop and chippy. We ate in The George, nice food and you can take your dog in to the pub too.
There is no play area, but on this occasion we did not have our daughter with us so it wasn't a problem. But I'm sure she would have made her own entertainment as there were lots of children on site.
Toilets were spotlessly clean, the wardens were lovely and helpful and always happy to stop for a chat. Newspapers can be ordered in the shop.
One little thing, they could do with some plug sockets in the toilets. As there is no electric hook up on site I really missed my straightners. I know it sounds sad, but there is no harm in wanting your hair to look okay just because you are camping.
But other than that it was lovely and I would recommend it to anyone.

This was the first CCC site I have stayed at since joining and I was suprised.
Having read the rules about no ball games, no equipment to be left outside of tents (etc etc) I wasn't expecting such a lively and family friendly site.
Having said that it was nice and quiet at night (with exception - see below).
The location is lovely - a great pub very nearby, and a 15 min walk to the local village with more pubs, a few shops and a fish and chip shop.
Also, loads of great walks nearby - both easy and strenuous.
Watch out tho - while we were there, the nearby pub decided it wasn't serving Sunday dinner, because they had been so busy at lunch. It was a busy bank holiday weekend - nevertheless it meant a walk back to the village to eat (where we had just come from). Perhaps it is best to book .
The facilities were warm and clean, and the people running the site were really friendly and helpful.
My one and only 'complaint' was the noise of the planes passing overhead - my camping partner wasn't bothered by the noise, but I was, and I think the valley location amplifies the sound somewhat.
Overall, IMHO, a lively family friendly site, in a great location, busy at bank holidays, and not really so quiet during waking hours.

This site is situated in a fabulous location and surrounded by trees. It was really peaceful, the only sounds being birds, the river, relaxed chatter, children having fun and planes passing overhead (which we didn't consider a problem as you don't seem to notice them out after the first couple).
Hayfield village is a pleasant 10 minute walk along the river and there are a couple of shops and several pubs. We ate at The George (lovely homemade pubgrub, with a special 2 course deal at £6.95) and the Pack Horse (again lovely food, the menu was a bit more restaurant style but the prices were reasonable) Would not hesitate to visit either again.
The toilet/showers/washing up facilities were older and more basic than any other C&CC site we have visited so far, however they were still more than adequate, clean and plenty of hot water.
There isn't a playground on the site, but there is plenty of space for kids to play, and there is a nice playarea along the river walk, just before you reach the village.
We found the wardens friendly and helpful.
We will definitely return.

We (family of 4) arrived on saturday for the bank holiday weekend.
The staff here are so friendly and treat you like old friends! It was very busy this particular weekend yet we had no neighbours, so the kids did play badminton etc.
The walks from the site are great we didnt need to go out in our van there are walks straight up on to the hills or along the bottom of the valley along the river Sett. We did both.
This site really needs a drying room, we'd been out walking when the rain started and continued for 3 hours we were soaked, but in our campervan there is nowhere to hang anything, or it would have been nice to store our soaked walking boots.
Showers are basic, clean and hot. There were alot of dogs, but none of them were a problem (ie,barking, mess). Our daughter took someones dog for a walk, she thought it was wonderful.
Reception doubles as a shop which sells ice-creams and chocolate as well as other camping food.
Very hot water for the dish washing sinks, which were always nice and clean.
This is a lovely peaceful site set within beautiful scenary. We shall be returning to this site in the near future.

We stayed on the Hayfield site for 3 nights during a tour of the Peak District and loved it. This was one of the most expensive sites we stayed on during the trip but the location and facilities made up for the extra price. We had a very level, riverside pitch which was fantastic. The site was very busy but all facilities were kept spotlessly clean (as you would expect from a C&C Club Site). The wardens were very friendly and helpful. The Packhorse pub was great with a good selection of real ales and fantastic food. Overall I would definitely recommend the site to others.
