Fantastic little site! My husband and I spent the weekend here on our own whilst the children were on scout camp.
The wardens were friendly and welcoming, choosing us the best pitch for a couple minus children! We pitched up in a quiet spot and it was just about perfect!
The grass is well cut, the shop well stocked, toilets and showers clean. The showers are the push button type set at one temperature. They were always lovely and hot but the push buttons are a pest if you have long hair! The toilet block was spotlessly clean throughout our stay.
We ate at the George Hotel in the village. Fantastic welcome and super food. Well priced and within easy walking distance of the site. The steak pie was loaded with steak and a lovely short handmade pastry crust.
We walked from site up to KInder Scout. We missed the footpath to the reservoir which added to our journey! It's a tiny gate just after the bridge if you're walking that way it's easily missed! The walk up to Kinder was amazing and we saw lots of Mountain Bikers using the trails also.
Had the children been with us they would have loved the children's play area and the rabbits seen each evening hopping about on site.

Excellent site and I think the best 'main' site I have stayed on. The facilities could not be faulted and everything was kept scrupulously clean and tidy. I'm not disabled, but if you are (or have a baby) the disabled/baby changing facility is superb. The pitches are generously proportioned. There is hardstanding if required but I stayed on the grass site and there is a really good atmosphere here - a nice mix of tents, campervans, motorhomes. Excellent site for young families as there is a good play area for children. Well stocked shop selling a range of products and newspapers can be ordered in. Due to the tight roads leading to the site through Hayfield, caravans are not permitted.
The staff were unwaveringly helpful and pleasant. Nothing too much trouble.
Ideally situated for walking. I have two mad springers and it was perfect. Just off the site, there are walks where they can go off the leads. Short walk to the Sportsman pub and about a 15/20 minute walk into Hayfield which has a good range of shops and more pubs.
Amazing walks and countryside on the doorstep. If you're a mountain biker, equally good as the Pennine Bridleway goes past the gate.
We'll definitely be back.

It was our first visit to this site and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The weather wasn't great but we still managed to get out and appreciate the fantastic local area. The site was welcoming, friendly and incredibly clean and well maintained. The children loved the playground and shop which had most basics stocked. We enjoyed ourselves so much we became members of the caravan and camping club and have booked a return visit for September. Highly recommend.

This is a very neat camp that is kept immaculate. The staff are great and the site like it is because the staff work hard at it.
Don't arrive on a Saturday before 12:00hrs, you just will not get on site. The walks are great, the village of Hayfield is the setting for the BBC The Village series.
. It has a great coffee shop, Rosie's, and a nice pub to sit and watch the world go by.
If you attempt the walk to Kinder Reservoir, make sure you find the correct start, the sign post to the start is on the left of the bridge over the river about 1/2 mile from the car park, easily missed.
This is one of the camp sites you will want to return to. Enjoy.

We looked at staying here a few years ago but were put off by the non availability of electric hook-up and only grass pitches. However, this has changed in the past few years and Hayfield is now a superb C & CC “main” site with hardstandings & hook ups.
We arrived prior to the May Bank Holiday to an almost empty site [Wednesday] but by Friday evening, the site had filled up with motorhomes & tents.
However, we didn’t have to queue up for use of the showers at all in the four days that we stayed. All kept spotlessly clean & fresh.
The site wardens were very helpful and always ready for a chat.
Whilst this site is ideally situated for access to the Kinder Plateau, there are many other walks in the area such as trails to Mount Famine, South Head & Cracken Edge.
Hayfield has shops & pubs and is only a 20 minute stroll alongside the river that runs adjacent to the site. The George Hotel was “tested” at lunchtime and had a superb offer of main course & dessert for £8. 95 as well as a couple of well kept real ales.
There is also the Sett Valley Trail to bike along down to New Mills. It is an old railway line, so easy biking even with a dog loping alongside!
Due to the narrow approach roads from Hayfield village & a tight site access, caravans are not allowed at this site – just motohomes & tents.

Just got back form a lovely 2 night stay here. Really friendly wardens. Sorted an ehu for us on the tenting field, which was really relaxed. We prefer non hard standing anyway.
All of the facilities are spotless. Some of the cleanest and nicest loos / showers and chem loos I have ever seen.
Struggled a bit in the village with our 7. 4 metre motor home, so beware! And the campsite gates are a squeeze but still manageable.
Lots of fabulous walking routes both easy and hard.
Went to the nearest pub to the site for a meal, the sportsman.
I had lamb and the missus had steak pie. Superb food and service. The steak pie is to die for! and they let dogs in.
Butchers in the village sells the best pork sausages for your barbie.
I would highly recommend this site and is a credit to both its owners and the camping and caravanning club.
Lots of families and very well behaved kiddies all playing about, which was nice. Cant wait to go back again.

Excellent site clean tidy the wardens were very friendly and helpful the site is in a good location and there are some lovely walks. There are few pubs within easy walking distance. We visited this site for a reason my grandmother was born there and when I mentioned this to a gentleman in the pub he was very helpful and showed me a book with he history of the village. A nice short walk into the village. The toilet/shower blocks were both very clean and even though the site was busy I didn't have to wait. I would certainly visit this site again

I have visited this site on many occasions and find it to be one of the best campsites I have visited.
The site is ideal for Mountain Biking, walking or just spending a relaxed weekend with the family.
Being a stones through away from Hayfield there are numerous play areas for the kids & Pubs for the adults.
Great little site!

Had a fabulous stay here. 15 minute walk along the river into Hayfield village where there is good choice of pubs with dining. We prefer the George with friendly staff, free wifi, good value and varied menu to suit all tastes.
Site facilities all closed between 11and 12. 30 which we found inconvenient as there was no alternative amenities block for a shower or toilet use. Tents pitched too close together for my preferences and this was a bit odd as there was lots of spare space/ grass pitches but the stewards were directing people to camp very close.
Stewards were great and very friendly in he main and the site was well managed, although there was one steward who seemed to take a long time to deal with simple matters and get flustered which was a bit frustrating. Think it was struggles to use the IT effectively.

Excellent site with wonderful views. Having booked late we ended up on a grass pitch but it was level with plenty of space and had such an exceptional view of the hills leading up to Kinder that we would probably ask for it again! (as long as the ground was dry, of course). Excellent facilities and easy access to great pubs in Hayfield.
