Brilliant site. I agree with everything stated by Tent+dog. The site is not at all regimented but relaxed and has beautiful views.
The facilities are clean and modern although a little inadequate when the site is very busy. Maybe another block would be a good idea on the campers field. Temperature control on the showers would be good as most people commented (quite rightly) that they were too hot. The staff are the friendliest I've ever encountered.
Location is excellent, only a short walk into the village alongside the river. Lots of dog friendly pubs (The George does wonderful food). The butchers is tiny but sells great steaks, just like meat used to be - tasty. There is a small selection of useful shops for basics.
There is a two and a half miles walk along the Sett Valley Trail into New Mills. Nice little town with dog friendly pubs, a good pet shop and a very impressive hardware store. Be aware that it is half day closing on Wednesdays. Don't miss out on visiting The Torrs (The park under the town) while you are there, amazing, like another world.
There are so many walks to do in this area that we will have to visit again and again and again.
One warning at this time of the year BEWARE OF THE MIDGES - ouch!

Spent a nice few days here last week and enjoyed ourselves greatly.
Easy check in, staff very pleasant and helpful.
Tent pitched quickly, no issues but I suppose we could have been further away than our neighbour, picky but probably a bit close.
Facilities immaculate, toilet and showers very clean, free to use and showers were nice and hot.
Small shop on site if the usual bits and bobs are needed.
Short walk along the small river into town, just walk along the path alongside the small river from behind the campsite building, the dog loved paddling in the stream.
Walk into town takes about 15-20 mins, just follow the path and you'll get there no probs.
Some decent pubs, The Sportsman is ok, needs a lick of paint and a damp cloth but staff nice and dogs allowed.
George Hotel has nice staff, cheap and decent food, a few hand pulled ales along with free wi-fi, again dogs are allowed.
The Pack Horse was ok, just had drinks outside, no dogs allowed, a bit odd inside, check out the decor.
The Royal Hotel (big pub by the cricket ground)was great, seats outside, dogs allowed inside too, fantastic food with awesome chips and loads of real ales.
Wi fi available at the campsite but you have to pay for it :(
Freezer available but you had to pay 50p :(
However all in all a fab site and would recommend it 100%, in a great place ran by nice staff and is full of nice people (thanks to the chap who helped us take our tent down in the wind !).

What a lovely place ! The staff are fantastic - friendly and helpful. The place is pristine, spacious and a beautiful location. Hayfield is an interesting place and an easy mile and a bit walk down the valley. There's a good pub a few minutes away.
You can catch a bus into Buxton from here. This is an interesting journey over some beautiful hills and through mill towns. I can't add any more - except to say I can't wait to go back.

This was my most recent of many visits to this site and as always I love it. I now have a caravan and can't stay here but may purchase a little tent just so I can come back.
Facilities are good, atmosphere great, nice and quiet in the evening, lovely, helpful staff, gorgeous setting and local area. Take rock pegs for your tent, you will need them, shop sells them if you forget. Loads to do in the area, Bakewell is very nice, Eyam (plague village) is a must in my opinion, cable car at Matlock is fab and you can take your dog on too. Lots and lots of walks straight from the campsite, the newsagents in Hayfield sells little books with 10 or so walks to do of various levels and length.

This wonderful site is just over a half hour drive from home. This was our first visit and certainly won't be our last having booked again for this coming weekend. The site is very well kept, the facilities are lovely, clean and warm. The wardens were very welcoming and helpful.
The walk along the river into Hayfield village is very pleasant. We purchased a booklet of local walks, and completed three of them whilst on our short break. One of the reasons for our return is to complete all ten walks from the booklet although some of the instructions were a little confusing.
We have two dogs needing a lots of exercise and whilst the walks were very enjoyable for us, the dogs, I'm sure, would have preferred more off the lead opportunities, but as with much of the Peak district there are sheep everywhere! I love photography and the surrounding area is really beautiful, walkers, dog owners and nature lovers will love this site. Plenty of welcome visitors to the site, Rabbits, ducks and ducklings, wide variety of bird life, spotted a Heron on the river. Looking forward to our return visit.

Initially very helpful when we first made enquiry and booking, which was followed up by very friendly and efficient service on checking in. Had choice of pitches and chose No52 plenty big enough for our Invader 800+ canopy, not sloping but a little uneven but nothing to worry about.
A very relaxed site with very good showers/toilets and good under cover pot washing area. The local area is good for all levels of walkers, paid a visit to Hayfield, a short walk along a lane from site which has just been the main location for the BBC series The Village.
A 3. 5 mile drive takes you to New Mills, which has a Park under the Town, and this historic walkway is very nice and if, like us, have a dog that loves water, this is ideal as most of walk is along the river Goyt.

Firstly let me say that this is a beautiful site in a fantastic setting. The facilities are immaculate and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The village of Hayfield is enchanting and is where they film ‘The Village’. It is a short walk from the site.
Now for the down side. Being the Peak District the soil is a very thin covering over bedrock. We were in a tent. A number of tent pegs bent as we tried to knock them in. Others could only partially be banged in. Sixty mph winds funnelled down the valley and 2 of our 5 tent poles burst the day after we arrived. Went to Go Outdoors in Stockport and they were not at all helpful (Bristol store actually fitted replacement sections later) so we packed up and came home.
Would recommend that tent users think very seriously before visiting this site, which is a pity as it was so promising. Highly recommend it for Motorhome users (caravans aren’t allowed due to difficulty of access).

We have just spent the weekend here and thoroughly enjoyed it!
The site is immacualte, a lot of effort is clearly put in to keep it tidy and well presented.
The shower/toilet again is spotless. Well lit, clean and everything worked.
The dish washing area was bright and clean.
The kids loved playing in the park, which looks brand new.
The shop, although small, stocks everything you could ever forget, and the owners keep it open until the last customer has arrived.
The couple that own the site are lovely people. They couldn't do enough for you, were cheerful and friendly.
My car battery got flat and the owner didn't hesitate in helping me and letting me use his jump leads.
Also, the surrounding area is fantastic.
Great site, we will definitely be back!

I have stayed at this site 3 times this year, so obviously one I like and worth going back!
Lovely location and plenty of walks to choose from, particularly around the Kinder Scout area. Worth investing a few pence in the local walks book available from reception.
Campervans and tents only, because narrow access through village by caravans is not possible.
A Club site therefore well looked after and good facilities. Something they can't control is the weather and it has rained a lot every time I have stayed there!
Lovely fish & chip shop in village (a pleasant ½ mile walk away) with 10% off if you ask for a voucher from site reception.

A lovely, picturesque site not far from the village of Hayfield. The site is level and the pitches are a good size. The toilets are immaculate and the dishwash area very clean. The wardens were very friendly and helpful.
The small site shop has all the basics and newspapers can be ordered the day before.
A bit of noise from the road and the planes going overhead but nothing to worry about.
The nearby village has lots of pubs serving food, a local village store, a fruit and veg shop and a great chippy!
The path next to the site is a pleasant 15 minute walk into the village.
We really enjoyed the walks from this site and will be returning
