I was worried about the state of the pitches due to the heavy rain but they were in a good state

Lovely staff, clean reception and well stocked shop. Chip shop on site is nice and well priced. Toilets are clean although were a fair walk from my pitch, showers 50p were clean and pleasant.

I was able to hire ice packs at 20p a pack which was great when my own packs started to melt. Security were visible and the parks locked at a reasonable time to prevent too much noise. Great location very close to brean fair and other local attractions.

Overall a great experience, I would return.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at Northam Farm, This is our second time staying there and I have to say we love it.

We request to stay in the paddock, You get to choose your own pitch (so arrive early to pick the best).

On site facilities are A* the toilet blocks were always clean and tidy, on site shop was always well stocked, There is no on site entertainment you need to walk down the road approx 5-10 min to the Seagull bar.

If all you are looking for is a peaceful relaxation away from all the noise, then this is the place for you. We will definitely be returning next year this time it will be in a caravan not a tent.

Just returned from a lovely 3 nights at Northam Farm. We managed to book this site at short notice due to recent rains making Warren Farm's field 12, boggy and waterlogged. I rang Northam Farm and they assured me that their non-EHU fields were not waterlogged.

Booking in at reception was very easy and we were given a pack of info and a children's pack with free crayons to keep my son happy!

We were shown to 4 Acre field and were able to choose our own pitch once we got there. The pitches were adequately sized for our 6 man tent and extension and clearly marked. The field was well sheltered and flat.

The field was perfect for those with kids as there is a very large playfield adjoining with a range of play equipment including what looked like a small BMX track! There was also another play area nearer the facility block within easy reach.

The field is quite a way from the reception, shop and takeaway but my son was constantly offering to go there as he was able to ride his bike around the site.

The facility block was a short 4-5 min walk, I would recommend taking a portable loo if you happen to pitch at the far end of the field as you may not fancy the walk at night. I saw some people using their bikes to make it easier. We walked there in the day and used a portaloo at night.

The facility block nearest to us was always clean and looks modern, there are plenty of showers but save your 50p's as you need to pay 50p into the metre before you enter the cubicle. You get about 8mins of hot water for this and the shower cubicles were massive! and clean with a dry area for changing. The only criticism was that there were no hairdryers or sockets in order to use your own. I resorted to the hand dryers to rough dry my hair which was a shame.

The entertainment happens at The Seagull Inn which is 600m from the reception so again is a good walk away. You can park at the sister site where The Seagull Inn is based if you want. We didn't see the entertainment but loved the food which was plentiful and cheap so we went twice. There is a takeaway on site too and apparently does breakfast.

Brean is very touristy which is great if you have kids or like the great British seaside experience but you would not like the area if you do not like amusements, beach shops and endless holiday parks. Having said that, Northam Farm is not brash and tacky and makes up for its immediate surroundings.

We visited Brean Fun Park which also houses a market on Saturdays. We loved the fun fair and thought the wristbands were well worth the money. My 9 year old was tall enough to go on all the rides except one but its worth checking the website if you have younger children.

Chedder gorge is worth visiting. We purchased the explorer ticket including a bus tour with interesting commentary and cave visit. It showed a prettier side of Somerset.

The beach at Brean is massive and worth seeing but we were disappointed with the amount of litter we saw. I guess we are used to our home beaches of Poole and Bournemouth which are usually immaculate but Brean beach is so wide that it is probably very difficult to clean.

All in all, we would definitely recommend a stay at Northam Farm and hope to return to Somerset soon to explore other parts of the county.

Visited this site again for the third year running and we absolutely love it! Only one thing could make this site even better and that's wifi as the phone signal is rubbish.

We always stay in the 'No Dog' field and the toilet/shower block in this field are always really clean, even when its really busy.

The play park was updated earlier this year in this field and its even bigger and better than before. My girls loved it so much that they spent most of their time there.

They have an on site chippy which, I have to say does the best curry sauce I've ever tasted, their chips are pretty good too

We'll definitely be back next year, just hope the weather is better then.

Stayed in no dog field with ehu for three nights in the middle of August, based mainly on the good reviews on this site. Arrived on a wet Thursday, and found booking in was efficient, friendly and the guys in the golf buggys that show you to your pitch, allowed us a choice of the pitches they had available.

No fault of the site, but the area had torrential rain for a couple of days prior, so they were quite wet and in an attempt to soak up some of the rain, most of the habitable pitches were covered in an uneven pile of bark chippings, so not the best base to pitch a tent on, but it was a good size, and hook up was within good reach. At least they'd tried to do something to make the pitches acceptable, bearing in mind the storms they'd had in that area.

The site is big and we found most things a fair walk ie from our tent to the shop/reception was a good 20min round walk, which is not always easy with a 6yo and 18 month old in tow.

Brean itself is like a giant holiday park/caravan site and perfect if your idea of a good camping trip is going to funfairs, arcades and takeaway food shops, and seeing imaginatively named bars (think Sundowner & Beachcomber!) full of half cut parents at 2pm on a saturday afternoon. To be honest, ours isn't and we hated the place. We went into burnham on the Friday evening for a bite to eat, but bearing in mind this was peak season at 6:30pm on a Friday evening, it was like a ghost town and seemed only the curry houses and a few chippys were open, but we did manage to find a family friendly pub opposite morrisons that served a good meal and something for the kids. The staff were really friendly and welcoming.

Upon returning to the campsite, we found it nice and quiet and got the kids off to sleep. What we found with this place, is that most people go off to the bars and entertainment club in Brean on an evening, which inevitably means that some come back after hours a bit merry. This was loud enough at 11:30 to wake both my kids, and I was a bit annoyed at how inconsiderate a large number of the other campers were well into the early hours, especially when the family next to our tent had not only clearly had a skinfull, but then started to blow up their airbeds with an electric pump at 1:30am! This pattern didn't change for our 3 night stay, and there didn't seem to be any patrol to manage the late night noise.

Also, because the site is so big, a lot of people drive everywhere, and you pitch your tent right next to the access roads so when your asleep in your tent, you can get cars driving past at all hours, literally a matter of feet from where your sleeping! Again, not great for a peaceful nights kip.

There are numerous shower blocks on this site, and these were definitely some of, if not the best we've come across on a campsite. They were warm, spotlessly clean, plentiful and well worth the 50p cost for a nice hot shower. They wouldn't shame a good standard health club. There was also frequent fresh water points and the washing up area was large and always had hot water, albeit, some of the other campers left the sinks in a disgusting state.

There are also a large number of new looking and well designed kids play parks dotted around the site, although when we took ours, we didn't stay long due to numerous kids, some we guessed as young as three or four, effing and jeffing almost constantly, and despite my wife asking them to mind their language on several occasions, they took little notice. Needless to say, not a parent in site minding these kids.

I went fishing for an hour or two on a couple of evenings and found the lake to be well stocked, although nothing massive, had plenty of bream to the two pound mark. The shop is really well stocked with everything you need, and found it reasonably priced. The people on reception were also excellent.

We managed to get some good weather on the Saturday, and went down to Brean sands about a mile down the road, where you pay to drive onto the beach and park. Not much there, and you can't paddle because the seas about a mile away when the tides out, but a sandcastle makers dream. Also went back to burnham during the day, and my daughter loved the donkey rides next to the jetty. A bargain for £2. 50!

Overall, whilst the site itself had excellent facilities and was always clean, I found it more of a holiday park that you can pitch a tent in, rather than a campsite. In all honesty, our camping normally tends to consist of breaks of 1-3 nights, in the summer, just to get away from it all, and have some fun on the beach with the kids, so perhaps my experience comes down to a bit of campsite choosing naivety on my part, however we found the large majority of people were staying at the site for their main summer holiday, either for one or two weeks, therefore, if you like camping just to enjoy the outdoors for a few days, let the kids have some freedom, and enjoy a few drinks with a bbq on an evening on a quiet site, then based on my stay and experience, I couldn't recommend northam farm, and wouldn't return.

If, on the other hand, you enjoy and want the traditional British seaside experience, eat nothing but deep fried food, and like putting all you money in fruit machines, Brean more than provides, and northam farm's as good a place as any to stay. Just make sure you pack your tracky bottoms, get your tattoos done, and stock up on strong cider and fags, and you'll have a great time!

I was a bit dubious about camping this weekend due to the torrential rain we have had like forever but when I got to the site I asked if the site was waterlogged but they told me they managed the pitches by moving people around. But the ground wasn't wet at all. Even when I packed up the next day the bottom of the tent wasn't really wet.

I went to reception and gave details and was given a comprehensive welcome pack. This was in a sealed package and had a Somerset/Exmoor paper along with site info and leaflets of attractions.

As it had been so wet there were only 2 tents but the site is huge! Loads of clean toilets and showers and even a bath (coin operated) I think there were hairdryers but cant say for sure although I'm sure I heard one.

There is a chip shop on site but didn't realise so went to one just down the road. There is also a Chinese takeaway and being brean nothing is too far away.

It was a last minute thing for me and was going to stay 2 nights but family commitments meant I only stayed one but will def go back.

It cost £10. 50 (not main time) which is more than I normally pay (!) but was a very clean site with plenty of bins and recycling places.

Took bike with me and was able to cycle on beach and roundabouts as there arent that many hills!

Absolutely loved this site! Flat pitches which were quite big we have a 10man tent and it fit great. The Shower/ toilet block were very clean indeed. 50p for a shower but it was worth every penny! I would guess the shower lasts for about 8mins which I found long enough to wash/condition my hair wash my body and shave my armpits and legs, ha ha ha. And I still stood there at the end just enjoying the water. Fantastic.

On arrival we were sited by a man in a little quad bike thingy which we thought was a nice touch. All the staff were very friendly. They children wanted for nothing in the play grounds they were fab (as my daughter would say).

The on site cafe and shop were very good the cafe had good food (chip shop style) very big portions. The shop was small but had everything you would need if you need something which they didn't have there were shops just a short walk away.

We spent 5nights here and I wish we had spent more. We have booked in for our summer holiday too. We are a family of 4 and for a week in the summer hols has only cost £169.75. Bargain.

I love this site it was one of the best around its clean friendly and plenty to do around it. My boys 10 and 8 love it.

The shop is well stocked

The staff are friendly

The chippy has lovely food

Toilets are clean and all but one block has been recently refurbished very tastefully with no scrimping on fittings. The seagull and scottys bar are the same, they have been refurbished to a very high standard.

Its nice to see a site like this were every year you can see that they are spending money on it to make it better.

Well done northam farm keep up the good work, looking forward to more weekends away there.

Excellent site. There I have said it. We visited for a short weekend break. We had considered visiting brean before but were put off the large campsites and the videos on you tube, we also were fearful of the reputation of large sites full of loud people causing trouble.

Nothing could be further for the truth. The site was large but it was peaceful, even though it was full as the sun as shining. The pitches were large and clearly marked. We were taken to our field and then allowed the close where to stay. The pitches were clean and flat.

The toilets were the cleanest we had ever used on a site. He showers were 50p but for such clean facilities I won't complain. The shower was more than adequate. I showered, dried and dressed before the water shut off!

We will certainly be back. Brean is tacky in the highest order. Flashing lights, pubs, fair rides as far as the eye can see. Beach was huge. If you want a good British seaside short break you won't be disappointed.

Well done Northam Farm. Quality short break at a really good price.

Well what a great site this is, cannot fault anything at all. The reception staff could not do enough for us, very helpful and polite. The toilet blocks is outstanding and very very clean, showers ok as well. My grand children who came with us for the first time loved their little break away. The parks on this site were just lovely for them and well kept clean. You can also walk in the grounds, a nice lake, a field with horses in, plus loads of wild rabbits running around. We will be back again, dogs welcome.
