Came here in the May half term for 5 nights with 3 children.

The owners were extremely helpful and professional upon arrival. You’re given a key for the toilets and showers at a £10 deposit.

We were pitched a little too close to the entrance and play area so there was quite a lot of noise up until 10:00pm but it does tend to go quiet after this. The site is also next to a working farm which starts around 7:30 am in the morning. I personally also thought that the tents were too close together. But, I guess that’s what camping all about! I wasn’t keen on the site’s location either (behind a housing estate and school), - sorry - again, personal choice.

The onsite shop, open from 9-6 sold the basics, sweets, caravan and camping goods including gas bottles. They also sold hot food such as sausage baps etc.

The play area could be improved, it currently has a trampoline, a few swings and other items to climb on and became very slippy when went.

Bricks were available for use with BBQs and there was a hot drinks vending machine alongside plenty of leaflets on things to do. There is also a games room with snooker table.

Showers and toilets in one huge block along with washing up facilities, including bowl and drainer. Washing machine and tumble dryer (small charge). Iron and ironing board (small charge). Electrical socket point (small charge). Free hairdryer use in shower block. Chemical disposal point around the side.

Llantwit beach is nice albeit rocky with small pools. There is a nice café/shop on here.

Ogmore-by-sea has a lovely coastal walk and although it was quite misty when we went there it was very busy. Sat here to have a picnic.

Obviously visited Cardiff as we are Doctor Who and Torchwood fans. Also visited Barry Island (good beach and views), Coed Hills Rural Artspace (difficult to find and very overgrown now).

Llantwit’s vicinity also has a Somerfield, chemist, two fish & chip shops, post office, petrol station, train station, pubs, chinese take-away and a huge general supermarket (Filco foods), inside they do the lottery. Next to it is also a large hidden toyshop.

We have just returned after a fantastic stay at this brilliant site.  Myself, my husband and our three children aged 1,4 & 6 were given a warm welcome by the owners, where nothing was to much trouble.  The shower / washing up facilities were very well equipped and water was always hot from morning to night, you are also supplied with a washing up bowl and drainer.
There was a mother and baby room equipped with shower cubicle, changing station, toilet, sink.  This was only accessible via a key given to you on arrival,if you have an infant.  This was invaluable as it meant my husband could help me shower the baby as this can be very tricky alone.  The children's play area kept the older two amused for hours as did they sweets in the on site shop which is open from 9am until 6pm.

We visited Southern down beach while we were there (as recommended by the owners), this was a beautiful beach, but be warned the tide comes in early (around 3pm).

We can't wait to return to this campsite next year.

We stayed here for 8 nights during the May half term and had a great time.
The owners are very friendly and helpful.
The on-site shop stocks all basic goods and there is also a section for caravaning / camping goods.
Facilities were ok, shower and dressing area was huge and the showers were always piping hot, the only negative point I have with the showers is that they were not very powerful.
The facilities were closed for two hours each afternoon for cleaning, I found on occasion that by the time you went into the facilities the next morning they were not always that clean. This is not ment as critism but I feel that they would be far better to clean for 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour later in the day as apposed to just once a day.
Our 9 year old son enjoyed the kids play area and games room and had great fun. Having said that I think there is room for improvement in the play area as there seemed alot of unused space.
We had a fully serviced pitch which the site charges an extra 1.00 per night - we thought this was excellent as alot of sites charge alot more for fully serviced pitches.
All in all, would recommend this site to others - its a great site, having said that if they made a few changes / additions / updating this site could be FANTASTIC!

Great little site, nice surrounding farm area, great walk direct from site down to the coast, which was an amazing stone beach with plenty of rock pools to keep the kids amused.
Plenty to keep the kids amused in the games room and out door trampoline.
Nice clean showers with plenty of hot water.
The owners where new to the site but they were very friendly and helpful.
Great location for visiting the south of wales Cardiff etc.
Would return.

We stayed here for 3 nights, it's a lovely place.
The owners came round every night to make sure music was turned down by 11.
Great trampoline and games room, the owners did ask the children if there was anything else that they thought would be good to have in the games room.
We had small camp fires and they didn't mind although we were careful to keep them off the grass with some bricks that were at the side of the road.
The cobbled beach wasn't far from the site and the town was lovely.
Toilets and showers were clean and tidy and we never had any problems with hot water although you have to keep pushing the button to keep turning it on.
Its one of the best sites we have been to and would recomend it to anyone with children.
The pitches were very genourous not many tents though mainly caravans. Keep up the good work.

Recently stayed here for 3 nights, and what a lovely site with excellent facilities. Showers and toilets cleaned daily. Nice little play area for the kiddies, shame it's next to the road into the site. The town which is less than a mile away has everything you could ask for such a small place. There is also a a beach within 2 miles of the site, although it's a pebble beach there is a nice little cafe/gift shop, it is also a nice walk from the site down to the beach. Would happily visit again !

This site is a hidden gem!  We learned from the young lady at reception that, like we are about to, they had just moved from London and taken over the site from the previous owners.

The pitch was quite large and gave us plenty of room to position the tent.  As there was only one other tent in the field we did have a wide choice!

The amenities block was very clean but there was a lack of hot water to the sinks.  As it appeared that there were only a handful of ladies on the site (the construction workers for the nearby building site were staying in their caravans!) it was suggested that we use the disabled shower room.  This was great but the shower didn't get very hot although the pressure nearly took a layer of skin off!  It might help too to have a curtain to stop the water from spraying everywhere.

As we only stayed one night we couldn't comment on the other facilities, but we would definitely like to come back when we have the time!

We (Derek & Sandra Bradley) would like to thank all of our guests over the past 16 years, and we now look forward to our well earned retirement. We would also like to wish the new owners every success for the future.

We stayed at the campsite in August of 2006 it was very busy as it was the school holidays and the owners were very friendly and helpful. The campsite is very clean and the shower block is outstanding, well worth the £10 deposit. The children enjoyed the park, it is next to the road but all the traffic goes really slow as you have a big speed bump to get over just before the park. There was a trampoline which the children used the most.
Home cooked food to order was welcomed very much plenty of choice in the shop. The walk along the clifftop to the beach was lovely and Barry was just down the road for the fairground. The town of Llantwitt has a few pubs that do lovely meals if you fancy a night out. We had a lovely pitch for the tent and the people around us were very friendly. We will be booking for 2007 as all of us really enjoyed it there it was one of the best campsites we had been too.

Firstly, do not be fooled by the lead up to the campsite. You come via a built up housing area, then a fixed mobile home park then a farmyard driveway but there is a hidden treasure at the end! On arrival, you are greeted with a warm welcome and if you are lucky a stroke of the beautiful dog (very big and cuddly!).
We were lucky enough to get one of the hedged pitches which was in fairness a very good size. The pitches opposite all seemed to be of a good size, especially as they were housing some very large tents.
There was a small children's play park which was very well used by all ages, but could get a tad noisy during late evening if you are in one of the first few pitches of tents.
Facilities are fantastic, purpose built toilet/shower block which was immaculate. Well stocked shop,  home cooked fresh food and even a paper service for your morning papers! £10 key deposit a good idea as well.
Cardiff is a short drive away as is Barry Island. The rocky beach at Llantwit Major is a nice getaway and can be walked via a path from the site.
Would definitely recommend this site to anyone and will be returning soon ourselves.
Cardiff airport is fairly close but not busy by any means and in two days we saw 4 planes come over. Even closer is the Air Force base which sends out Hawk jets, again, while they are a great sight, we only saw 3 in the two days we were there.
