We visited this site on our return journey from Ireland and it was around a 2.5 hour journey from Fishguard. We stayed for 4 nights and thought the site was very well kept with good sized pitches.
The site has a small shop and a small take away (breakfast rolls) where you can get a reliable wifi connection without charge.
The large toilet block was great. We were pitched right at the top of the site which was a few minutes walk to the toilet block. The park is split up by lots of bushes and trees which was nice but created lots of shade so we only had the sun in the morning.
The kids loved the trampolene in the play area which lacks space for football etc but was suitable for our needs.
The local town was around a 25 min walk away (with kids). We had a nice meal at the Old Swan pub and there are a few shops and supermarkets that met our needs.
Would definitely visit again.

Hidden away - you think that your Sat Nav has got it wrong as you approach through a housing estate !
Through the static site, around the farm, turn the corner and there it is. A real gem of a site.
Flat pitches - a free trampoline and play area for the kids. Its a focal point for them and gets them chatting to each other and then bang as with most other trips they've made friends and you don't see them for the weekend.
Large all undercover facilities area, well lit too. Washing up facilities very good and very clean.
4 showers which I wasn't sure would be enough, but it was and the site was full too !
Changing area in your individual shower area, with a chair and mirror which is handy.
A couple of free hair-dryers in the facilities area which is a real bonus and very thoughtful.
The site is just off a coastal path, however not ramblers so we drove to the beach. Stunning scenery at Llantwir Major beach. Its a pebble beach, but there did seem to be surfing around the corner.
The cliffs are a site to be seen.
So clean and unspoiled. There is a beach cafe which seemed reasonable for a cuppa if you forget your flask !
Up the coast there is Ogmore and Southerndown and that cracking cafe at Ewenny which we drop into any time we are in range.
The local town has a good supply of shops for your supplies.
I recommend this site for its great facilities for me ( shower / washing up) my teens ( trampoline !) and my husband ( potential rambler and view lover).Have a spare weekend and out of all the sites we have visited this year, this is the one we are going back to.

I had a very enjoyable four days at this site, camping with my two young children. My wife had to work so this was my first time taking the kids on my own - fortunately the kids made lots of friends here and wanted to site on the site most days.
The play area for children is good - my daughter particularly appreciated the trampoline. Showers were large, clean and free, which was great. There were only four on the gents side but, having said that, I only had to wait once.
The shower block is nearest the people who need it least (motorhome owners) so tent owners have a bit of a walk, but the whole site is quite small so it's not far.
The owners and staff were very friendly. The shop was good for sweets and toys but not much good for food, unless you want you use the takeaway e.g. you can buy cooked bacon and sausage rolls but they won't sell you bread / rolls if you want to cook yourself.
Llantwit Major itself is nice and has everything you're likely to need, including a supermarket and a post office, plus a great toy shop (and I highly recommend trying Elaine's Tea Rooms). My pitch was a good size and surrounded on three sides by hedges, so nice and private. Overall, a really nice site and I will certainly visit again.

We only came home from here a week ago, it was a lovely clean site. The toilet block is very good, showers have lots of room, only problem was one of the showers was only a trickle couldn't shower in it.
The park was great for the kids, the local town and beach are only a short walk away. The staff are very friendly will go again.
Only advice is its very hidden not many signs where to find the site, as you get near you have to come through a little lane and then through some new mobile homes, think it needs to have more signs up.

What a shame, it seems that the summer months may have taken their toll on both the site and the owners. Not a great family site though apparently good for singles and couples.
Great base to explore heritage coastline though if you're travelling to the site from outside Wales it may be better to travel a further 40 minutes along the M4; there are a greater selection of campsites still within easy access of the Vale of Glamorgan's beautiful coastline.
The toilet / shower block on this site was well maintained. Good washing up area. I agree with previous comments about the distance from tent field to toilets. The site owners seem altogether less interested in tents than tourers and motorhomes. 'Looks like the site might be set to expand which is an unattractive prospect. As it was, the owners seemed very stressed out and had difficulty managing an almost full site over the weekend that we stayed (2 adults + 4 young kids).
Wouldn't visit again with children.

My family are regular campers and we booked this this site for 2 nights because it was the closest for a family party event.
When I booked the site I explained that we would arrive at around midday from West Wales and would need to shower and then move onto the family party.
We arrived just after noon and couldn't find anyone in the office. We selected a suitable pitch which would accommodate all 3 of our tents and I returned to the office to check if we could pitch our tents. The man if the office was not very welcoming and seemed less than pleased that I had brought the family dog with me.
We pitched our 3 small backpack tents and then went to get a shower before heading off for the party.
There is only one shower/toilet block and they close it between 2pm and 4pm for cleaning.
I returned to the office and asked how we could get a shower. The answer was no facilities between 2pm and 4pm. I was given a lot of good sales info about how good the facilities were but this was not much good to us since we couldn't use them when we wanted to!
We departed in our camping gear for the party and then realised that there was a Leisure Centre just up the road. I thought carefully and went into the centre and explained our situation. Thankfully the lovely lady on reception had a good laugh and let us use their facilities for a nominal charge.
We arrived at the party looking pristine!
I found the gentleman in the office very unhelpful and rather grumpy. I had already paid 50% of the 2 night stay and refused to pay any more. We only stayed one night.
This site served a purpose but I would not visit it again. There are not very many camping sites in this area and this site will undoubtedly serve a purpose for many but it is not in my view a good site especially for those with tents. The site is much more orientated to those with caravans.
The site is small and tents/caravans are cramped. There is no real space for children to run around apart from the play area which has good facilities but definitely needs the spongy tiles instead of paving slabs because the ground is so uneven.
When the main toilet/shower block is closed you have to use the toilets adjacent to the games room. There was only 1 male and 1 female toilet and when I visited them at 7pm in the evening after returning from the party the female toilet had excrement on the floor and stank!
The main toilet/shower facilities are good. My only problem was why they needed to shut the whole block for 2 hours in order to clean it. I've never stayed at a campsite where facilities have been unavailable for this length of time in the past. I don't see why they can't close one of the 'wings' and allow communal use of the other for a short period in the afternoon.
My basic problem with this site was that they seemed to be very rigid in their views about things and didn't seem to consider that we ultimately are their customers and that our views and feelings should be considered.
We won't visit this site again.

We stayed here during the school holidays. Tent pitches were full but plenty of space on the caravan pitches.
Nice site, play area nice, It was a bit noisy at night but me and the children all fell asleep by 9 despite it! Toilet area nice and clean push button showers which my 8 year old found too hard to push so I ended up quite wet while he had a shower.
Llantwit beach nice tide was in until late afternoon when we were there, small cafe, lots of rock pools to explore, nice area to spend just a few nights in and its only an hour from home.

This is the 4th visit to this lovely campsite, as it is a local site to us it is handy for short breaks. This site never fails to impress me with the friendly staff who are willing to offer any help you need and are always friendly when talking to them no matter what time of day.
The shop has a well equipped touring section with the majority of things you will need for a camping trip and spares for tents/motorhomes etc, including tent pegs, airbeds, cookers at reasonable prices, alongside a small shop for food and drink.
The play area and games room for children is very good and fenced off to keep children safe from the entry road. Toilet facilities have always been up to a high standard and are heated well in the colder seasons. Lovely spacious shower rooms although one had a trickle of water coming from it when I tried to use it.
The only negative thing from the times we have stayed is the pitch we were on was not draining well and with the heavy amount of rain this caused the pitch to look like a mud bath and caused us to leave early as it was unwalkable - However this could not have been helped.
Spacious pitches, friendly owners, nice shop, nice area for children all in all a lovely site.

We visited during the holiday week. Was greeted with a warm welcome and shown to our pitch. The sizes are ok but not that big for family tents. The toilets where good and closed between 2-4pm for cleaning which can be a pain as they only have one other toilet by the games room which could do with a bit of a revamp. They had a nice snooker room which me and my 15yr played at £4 hr. Overall not a bad campsite could do with a field for the kids to play football as there's no room and not much for older kids there. And another toilet block by the tent pitches as its a pain when waking up at 3am having to go that far.

Stayed the last bank holiday in May.
A small well maintained site with friendly owners. Excellent facilities with the largest shower cubicles we have seen, very well stocked shop selling almost everything.
We had only booked two weeks in advance having been let down elsewhere, the pitch we had was large enough for our folding camper and lwb 4x4.
A short walk into town gives you a selection of friendly pubs, shops and takeaways if required.
The site is always kept clean and tidy and is great for children, the beach (large boulders only at high tide ) is only a mile away, with great icecreams and a small cafe.
The beach at Ogmore is also well worth a visit.
Only down point was an over enthusiastic camper playing music for a straight 12 hours 12pm-12am on the last friday, he appeared to be packing up the next morning
All in all a really nice place to stay, quiet calm and relaxing.
