The site was very friendly once we found it. It a bit difficult to find from the corner of Ham Lane South -better and bigger signs would help.
We were shown to our site and made to feel very welcome. Site was nice and level and it was nice and peaceful for August. Water tap was in a very pretty pagoda. Unfortunately, the water pressure was so high I got rather wet!
Toilet block was clean and spacious and the Mens had lots of hot water. However, in the 3 days we stayed us ladies only ever got luke warm or cold water despite trying at all times of the day.
The walk down to the beach with our dog was great. Llantwit Majors church was fascinating and the town was very old and quaint. Barry Island beach was lovely and sandy but could not take the dog on it so walked around the coast.

I visited this site with my boyfriend and dog for 3 nights during July. The site is really lovely, we were greeted by lush green, flat pitches which were individually hedged round the edge which is nice if you want a bit of privacy. The owner greeted us on reception and walked us to our pitch, also pointing out where everything was.
I couldn't fault the toilets, showers and washing up areas as they were big and spacious with plenty of hot water! The shower cubicles also contained a sink, chair and room to dry off out of the shower itself. They were press on showers with adjustable temperature so no having to dig out coins for showering! I never had to queue for the showers during the evenings, not sure what they were like in the mornings.
If you have children there is a good play area for them plus a games room to keep them occupied.
The surrounding area was good, we had some nice walks- the footpath to the beach is great for dog walking (though dogs weren't allowed on the beach the month we visited). When you get to the beach there are good coastal walks to tire the dog out.
In Llantwit Major there are some nice pubs (one had a band on in the garden one evening). Also you will find, takeaways, co-op wine shops etc.
All in all, a great little site for a long weekend away, we would like to return in future- and bring friends and family with us :-)

Stayed here for 4 nights and had a good time. Nice base for visiting local attractions and an easy up hill walk into the small town centre.
The site shop was reasonably stocked and the play area kept the kids amused for a short time while we were organising where to go for the day.
There was only one toilet block but it was very clean, this was due to it being shut for two hours every day for cleaning 2pm-4pm.
We asked for a big pitch for our tent which is 7m x9m approx including guy lines. The pitch was just enough for the tent with no room for the car.
Staff were friendly and the site was relatively quiet.

It is a really helpful and friendly. The pitches generous and totally flat - well kept. There is a small shop and snacks available. We had the bacon butties one morning and they were delicious. The toilets and showers were clean and showers with the bonus of the use of free hairdryers. There were plenty of washing up areas.
It could do with a little clearer signs to follow through the housing estate, caravan parks and farm to get there.
Sadly, once again, the tenters are further from the facilities than the caravanners.

I love this place we always start I camping season here. There a small dated play area which my boy enjoys plus a games room. The shower/toilet block is cleaned regularly and the washing up area is spotless you do get the odd one who doesn't clean up after them. The beach is not far down a lane lovely walk on a sunny day or you can take the car down owners very friendly there's a little shop which stores the essentials. Dogs are welcomed. Tents are pitched at the front of the site but the toilet block isn't far and is very well lit. About 30 mins down the road you do have Tesco and also there is a bird of prey sanctuary which we love. Also you've got Barry island further on down with the fair and the beach.

I love this site. Our pitch was large and level, the facilities are among the best I've ever used (although there was some issues with the hot water in the showers, getting up early seemed to be the solution to that!) and the play area is great!
The nearby shops cater for your grocery needs, and there are a couple of takeaways. I can't hand on heart recommend the Chinese, our meal from there was somewhat disappointing. We didn't try the chippy.
There is a beach nearby, but as we were visiting family in Barry Island, we went to their beach instead - I can highly recommend Barry Island for some good old fashioned seaside fun, and see the sights from BBC's Gavin & Stacy at the same time!
If it was within an hour or so of my house, we'd be there every weekend. Sadly it was closer to a 6 hour drive so our visits are very limited!

Just returned from a 3 night stay @ Acorn during Easter school holidays. Had a fab time.
Had a lovely large end pitch, plenty big enough for our folding camper, large awning, car and space outside of the awning too
Lovely large, clean shower / loo / washing up / laundry block.
The 2-4pm closing isn't an issue, you are told this upon check in and to be honest most people shower morning and/or evening anyway or you can just plan around the closure times!
Never saw it dirty ( the ladies side anyway!) and loved the large shower cubicles with dressing area / basin / mirror etc. Hot,powerful showers!
Disabled shower room available plus a family one too
The hairdryers are a nice touch.
Nice play area for the kids and games room although dated, but ok for a game of air hockey / pool / table tennis etc
Well stocked shop, lovely staff who show you to your pitch personally.
Lovely location, beaches nearby and handy for venturing into Cardiff too, will definitely return

My wife and I have recently returned from a week long stay at Acorn Caravan and Camping in the Vale of Glamorgan, South of Wales.
We had the most wonderful stay. The weather was a bonus. It didn't rain once! From our arrival and right through our stay to our departure, the staff made us feel special and there was definitely a sense that they were happy to help with any problems we had. They were very knowledgeable abut the surrounding areas and gave us plenty of ideas as to places to visit, things to do as well as places to eat and drink. The star, a couple of miles up the road was a lovely quiet country pub that serves lovely food. The Swan in the town of Llantwit Major, ten minute walk, was a perfect place for an afternoon pub lunch and a couple of drinks.
The site itself was peaceful and family orientated. Kids were playing in the play area. The trampoline seemed to be the real star though. There was a decent sized shop that sold a good selection of foods as well as a good collection of nik naks to make your stay more comfortable. I am glad they sold tent pegs as most of ours were bent from our previous camping holiday.
The shower block was clean and was pleased to see separate shower cubicles rather than communal showers that you get on lots of other camp sites. There were plenty of toilets so my wife was pleased about that as she never had to wait - even in the morning rush hour.
The pitch itself was large enough for our 4 person tent and our car, and we did not feel like we were on top of our neighbours in the next pitch. We were allowed to have a couple of BBQs which I was very pleased about and there was a large kitchen area for washing up afterwards.
We had the most enjoyable holiday and have already booked our next trip for August. This definitely is the campsite that has everything for the family and everyone. I would highly recommend this place to everyone. It has a prime position, less than 1 mile stroll to the beach and the cliffs for wonderful walks, thirty minute drive to Cardiff and bridgend, perfect facilities on site, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly staff who went above and beyond to help make our stay the best it could be, but the best thig about this site is the breakfast baps they make in the shop. They were perfect and just what we both needed in the morning that also saved us cooking and cleaning when we got up.
This truly is a wonderful site and I urge you all to visit - even if its just for a tasty bap!

Stopped for 3 days over Easter.
The pitch size wasn't huge and was just enough for our small VW and side awning, there were bigger pitches around the outside though.
The campsite was in a good location with a couple of walks down to the coast, and not too far from the pubs for a stroll and a couple of pints. We had a good meal at The Old Swan for a reasonable price.
The campsite seemed to have problems with the hot water supply in the 'ladies' as my wife had cold showers and had to queue for them! Four shower cubicles per sex wasn't enough for the site when it's full up.
The washrooms were not kept that clean, they were closed everyday between 2 & 4, for cleaning, but after the evening 'rush' they left a lot to be desired. As there was no cleaning the next morning, it only got worse as the day went on.
Visited the shop once at check-in, it looked fairly well stocked and the lad on reception and his mum were friendly as they showed us to our pitch.
Overall, this is a site I doubt we'll visit again.

We had the most wonderful bank holiday weekend at Acorn Camping.
My Mother in Law wanted a family holiday near Southerndown and Wick, which is where she was brought up. She is unable to walk more than a few feet unaided so we booked a static caravan with easy access for her, my wife and me, and 3 camping places for the other 6 members of the party.
My wife phoned the owners to plan the weekend and they recommended their 4-berth caravan as having better access (they were right, and turned down the opportunity of charging us more for the 6-berth!) and gave us 3 tent pitches together, just down the aisle from the caravan.
When we arrived the owners couldn't have been more obliging. The caravan was well equipped, very clean and well maintained. It had a good bathroom with a very acceptable shower and the toilet block on site was also scrupulously clean.
My brother-in-law didn't have a long enough power lead to get to his tent (he pitched it wrong so the inlet pocket was at the opposite side) but the owners lent him one at no charge.
They have free wireless internet access in the cafe, but the couple of times I wanted an accurate weather and wind forecast for my windsurfing they just clicked onto Metcheck and Windguru at the reception for me so I didn't need to take my laptop in and mess around to get a connection.
I would happily go back again for a weekend break. The pubs in town are all good fun and the walk back is less than a mile and all downhill!
