Lovely site and plenty of room on our pitch. The surroundings were great, grass cut regularly and flowers tended to. Park could do with an overhaul as it has seen better days, but the trampoline was great. Toilet and shower facilities were clean although there tended to be a queue for showers at 7.30am! (4 showers in the ladies). Plenty of washbasins and toilets though. Even though the facilities were great, we probably wouldn't visit this site again as it was so expensive with 2 children. We were charged £3.75 per night for our tiny baby and the only facilities available for her was a baby changing unit!- so the 2 children cost us an extra £7.50 per night - if you dont want to pay this this try Llandow as all under 5s are FREE! (as are most campsites).

Absolutely great site! Well done Acorn Camping. The facilities on this site are second to none (should definitely be a blueprint for all campsites to follow) I cannot fault them or the kind helpful reception you receive on arrival. The £10.00 refundable deposit for your own key is quite sensible really, so don't be put off! After all it opens the door to some fabulous amenities which need to be looked after and one should take note that it's so much cheaper here than at many other sites with far less to offer.
The pitches all seemed a reasonable size to me, space seems to be a big whinge factor these days, I say get a smaller tent if your that worried (a lot of the group parties wanted to be close together when I was there anyway). A serious observation is that there is very poor drainage in the hedged areas so it becomes an instant quagmire, take some wellies! and watch your car doesn't get bogged in. This can happen anywhere though so don't worry too much.
PARENTS PLEASE NOTE, though the play area is simple - the kids seem to love it all the same (the trampoline is a sure winner) and they are the best judges me thinks, certainly not the adults! It is by the road but I observe that all the drivers are very careful here and the speed limit is 5mph regardless. I would like to see a better fence between the two areas though, wouldn't hurt for safety I feel. The local area never did anything for my interest values you may be of a different opinion. I am too hard to please by far.
The traffic towards Cardiff is frequently horrendous, my advice - go the other way! You have been warned! Please use the cafe at Llantwit (rock!) beach (nice area though) they are super friendly and the hot chocolate is just great! Enjoy your camping.

After their very busy week end coping with demands imposed by an international rugby match in Cardiff on Saturday and a major soccer match on Sunday the staff still greeted us with a smile and a welcome when we arrived about 6.30 p.m. A disturbance about midnight ended with those responsible being evicted from the site by 01.00. It was a nuisance but it was good to see firm action being taken quite promptly. Toilet facilities seemed to have been available throughout the night and seemed well cared for. This was our second trip to the site and we would have no hesitation in making a return visit there.

I stayed here for the weekend but was horrified when I was charged an additional £7.50 for a 6 month old baby. When I queried this, I was told that additional persons are charged from age zero, even though this is not advertised in the price list. The site was well kept and the toilets and showers were very clean, although the baby change room did not have facilities to wash a young baby, as it only contained a shower.

Stayed for 2 nights over the bank holiday weekend. Pitch was a reasonable size but not huge. Although I noticed some larger pitches with hedges around which looked much bigger. If you are thinking of going ask for one of these. When I booked I did not get a choice.
The children's play area was pretty poor (apart from a good trampoline) and it was situated right at the entrance to the site with cars passing which was a bit dangerous.
The shop was well stocked and the owner's friendly. They also cooked food to order.
The toilet block was clean and warm although there was a £10 key deposit to use this and it was locked between 11pm-7am. Good recycling facilities.
A pleasant 1 mile walk to the nearby beach at Llantwit Major was great. Unfortunately there were some large groups staying on site when we were there and therefore quite a lot of noise (even though quiet time was supposed to be at 11pm). All in all a pleasant site for a short stay, say 3-4 nights.

A lovely site here with a lovely walk along the cliffs overlooking the sea. Its a very friendly site with a modern clean amenity block. Enough to keep the children occupied and a 15 minute walk to a pub. Well kept site which I will certainly be revisiting.

Only spent 2 nights at this lovely little site, but we really enjoyed it. Nice facilities that are well maintained. Nice games room & outdoor play area for the kids. A well stocked little shop which seems to stock just about everything. We would love to have stayed longer but they were fully booked for the rest of the month. but we will be back.

April 2005 We only stayed one night, but we found Acorn to be an excellent site. The owners were very friendly, as was their beautiful dog. The showers and washrooms were very clean and the children's play area was well kept and very safe. The site is well laid out and was very quiet while we were there. We will certainly return.

March 2005 Great site for walks along the Glamorgan Coastal Path. Derek, Sandra & family very friendly and helpful (as too is Timber!). Site kept in good balance of having full facilities but not over-commercialised. Site within reasonable walking time (approx 15 mins) of both Llantwit town and the beach. Looking forward to having more spare time to visit in the near future.

July 04 ** Superb Site ** We booked via email and posted a £10 deposit and that was it, simple. This was our first camping holiday and it has given us the bug thanks to Acorn Camping. This site is very clean and tidy and well run and everyone is friendly and helpful. The shop on site has a good selection of essentials with a camping equipment section, so if you forget anything don’t worry, the chances are they will stock it. The take away is handy if you want a bacon barm etc. The toilet / shower block is good with constant hot water, washing machines, dryer, iron etc. My kids age 8, 7 & 1 .1/2 loved the play area with its trampoline, swings, slides etc. When we were on site we never saw the kids, perfect for mum and dad to have a cold beer and relax. We loved it here and will be returning without a doubt. The pitches are a little small and can seem a bit crowded but it was one of there busiest times of the year and we do have a massive tent and a large 4x4 so don’t be put off, it really is nice here and you won’t be disappointed!! Mr & Mrs Allonby
