Have visited this site five times in the past two years so obviously like it there. Going back again in September. Friendly family run site and Paul the site maintenance/gardener is a star. Nothing too much trouble and very helpful. A well stocked shop and clean facilities with Llantwit Major town within walking distance. There are interesting shops and five pubs are within a short distance of each other most of which provide meals.
The only negative comment concerns the potholes on the road leading into the site. There are so many they are literally unavoidable and some so deep they could seriously damage your rig. Amazed this has not been sorted as it detracts from what is otherwise a great place to stay.

Actually stayed in April and enjoyed so much that when the sun came out in May we revisited.
Clean, tidy and walking distance to the Sea.
Only disappointing issue was that the pizza man was not there in May to fire up the wood burning oven but is due to reappear - makes catering for a Saturday night a no brainer.
Well stocked shop, friendly staff and pitches just big enough to squeeze a Vermont XLP on.

We called into this campsite without pre-booking as it was a last minute decision to visit the area. The lady on reception was very welcoming indeed. She quickly and efficiently booked us in, directed us to our pitch and showed us where the amenities were.
We were well impressed with the size of the pitch. There was ample space for a large family tent and car. The ground was extremely well maintained, the grass covered a flat pitch with no bare patches or uneven dips where the majority of wear would normally occur.
The shower block was equally as impressive. There was an abundance of toilets and sinks, hair dryers in both the ladies and gents sections, also the shower cubicles were spacious giving ample room to keep your clothes away from accidental spraying. Within this building there was also an area for washing dishes, washing machines, irons and ironing boards. Hot water was plentiful.
The only negative aspect was the public road leading up to the campsite. It was full of potholes, some very deep which meant that we had to zigzag to avoid them.
All in all, at £17 per night for 2 people, 1 tent, electricity at 16amps and parking space for 1 vehicle, I say a big well done to Acorn, we will definitely visit you again and recommend you to friends and other family members.

A lovely quiet relaxing site. It's a short walk to town where you can stay cheaply and get what you need for the holiday.
A lovely place to stay if your not much of a party animal, as there's no where for music and to drink. Other than that its a lovely site.

Nice site with friendly owners. Nice level pitch but did feel a bit on top of each other. Clean toilets and showers but husband said all mens showers were cold. Little man enjoyed the play area. Well stocked shop. Lovely beach just down the road with great rock pools.
Did think we had got lost when we got to the private road but you just got to keep going.
Nice dog walk through the farm land just outside the gates.

Just spent last weekend here for our first touring break.
Site, quite easy to find, although you do think you've gone wrong whilst driving through the static park. You haven't, just keep going!
Very friendly on arrival, simply signed in and we were taken to our pitch. Level pitch with hardstanding, right next to water pipe.
Had huge trouble with awning (well it was our first time!) so I asked our neighbour and thank god I did. So, Michael, you saved us and we will always be grateful!
Booked this site because it wasn't far from home and had the play area for the kids. To be honest the play area does need some TLC, kids still enjoyed it, but it does need some updating.
Bacon butties were lovely! Shop well stocked, toilets clean, showers could have been cleaner (but that might just be me).
Heavy rain on the Saturday night, so did start to worry what we would get up to on Sunday morning. But it was fine, no troubles at all.
Local area has a good range of things to do, and Llantwit Major town has a few pubs, 2 supermarkets, pharmacies etc.
We will visit again.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at Acorn.
This is a lovely site, not too big and not too small - everybody was really friendly, site owners and fellow campers alike.
We arrived after a very wet trip from Bristol to the relief that the rain had finally stopped! It is a little tricky to find first off - follow the written directions from their website and it's easy enough to get to! We were personally shown to our pitch by the owner - a really nice touch.
Pitches are not the biggest we have ever had but even though it was the height of season, the site wasn't overcrowded and there was still plenty of room between units. (We were in our campervan with awning and there was still lots of room for us to sit outside). It was nice to see children playing outside on the site and it felt very safe as there weren't any cars racing around and no busy roads nearby. The kids playground was a hit with our daughter, especially the trampoline!
The toilet/ shower/ dishwashing/ laundry washing block was a good size, clean and well appointed. Even though the site was busy there was no need to queue for showers and there was always plenty of hot water and ample toilet roll and hand soap.
The site is in a lovely location - so peaceful and quiet yet only a 15 minute walk from the town of Llantwit Major which has everything you may need during your stay. Plenty of shops in the new part of town and also the old part of the town is lovely for a walk around to soak up the history.
The beach at Llantwit Major is easily accessible through the meadow and great if you holiday with your dog - they can have a great run through the meadow on the way! It will take about half an hour to walk to the beach. There is a beachside cafe which was really nice - we had a sandwich and cup of tea before our walk back!
Ogmore By The Sea is beautiful and has a lovely beach and Morenash is great for a good walk. The lunch at The Plough and Harrow afterwards was great, too!
We hope to return to Acorn, maybe for a little longer next time. There are so many beautiful places on this coast we have yet to visit and Acorn is the ideal base from which to do this! I thoroughly recommend this site to anyone looking for a relaxing break away from it all but close enough to all you may need.

Have just spent 5 lovely nights at this site. The owners are the friendliest people we have ever come across. The toilets and showers are ample size, it was nice to have a dry area in the shower to. Although it was not over busy is was very peaceful. LLantwit Major is a really nice place with some lovely shops, takeaways, and restaurants, and of course pubs. Would definitely return. It is situated between Barry and Porthcawl, the later being the one we prefer.

A quiet and pleasant site with friendly staff. Smaller tents have their own 'berth' isolated by hedges from the neighbouring campers.
The site has a main toilet and shower block at the far end, a minute or so walk from the first tent field.
The toilets and showers were clean and tidy, although, there was no solid wall to the roof to isolate areas which made the place somewhat 'acoustic' haha. Water points at either end of the site and barbecues allowed on bricks supplied. Games room a bit bare. Plenty of goods in the shop which we used to buy a few things we forgot.
A nice walk to the stony beach and cliff faces along the bay. We enjoyed our stay and would return.

Just came back from a fantastic weekend at this fabulous campsite, The weather was fantastic but I have to say it would have been a great weekend whatever the weather. On arrival we were taken to our pitch by the camp owner and I was surprised by how flat and level the pitch was. The site is spotless and in a beautiful location 15 min walk away from a quaint little village with everything you'd need. The site isn't A dead quiet place. But it's not over rowdy neither. Nice sized pitches with bricks available for disposable bbqs. Very child friendly place with an excellent games room with air hockey, table tennis, pool tables and a few arcade games. A play park and a large trampoline. The shop on site has a lot of things surprisingly and is very handy. £2. 40 for a breakfast bap was well liked!. The toilet/shower block is the best I've ever seen on a campsite. Spotlessly clean and very modern and big. There is a wash area and the owners will freeze cool blocks and food. The town has enough night life for those wanting to venture out. Also the stone beach is only a 10 minute walk away. All in all a very enjoyable time was had and we will definitely be returning here. Amazing place for the price. 10 out of 10 from us.
