Its worth looking at the directions function on UKCampsite. Co. Uk as the route to our site has been google earthed now so if you press the get directions button once you have the written directions on the left of the screen if you hover over a line you can see a person shaped icon click on this for a view of junctions etc (you do need to change the orientation) particular the left turn onto our lane.
Please also note we are not equipped yet to provide hook ups for tents although this will change in future
Thanks
Mike

This was my second one night stay at Bayness. I returned this time with my 5 year old to give him the kind of experience of camping I had when I was a lot, lot younger.
The toilets/showers are absolutely fine - there being four showers/wet rooms, each with a loo and basin; two additional loos next door (not signposted so unless you know they are there you may stand cross legged unnecessarily) and two indoor wash up points. Come to think of it these facilities are a lot better than when I was a lad, but then my dad preferred camping in pub gardens!
Yes, the track to the site is winding and bumpy, but this adds to the adventure for kids. The sea views are fantastic, my son enjoyed spotting the war ships (tankers in reality) out at sea and the distant light house beam from the direction of Scarborough at night.
Site was very quiet, don't be put off by the 4 x4ers, they are a friendly bunch and there really isn't any excessive noise when they are doing their stuff on the adjacent hillside.
RHB is is walkable, but not with very young kids because of the hill/rugged terrain; there's a cycle hire place at High Hawkser which is nearby; Whitby not to be missed for the fish and chips - visit the one on the south of the river just as you enter the town. Parking in Whitby is horrid at weekends - suggest you park at the Abby and walk down the many steps into the town.
Remember that although the site looks out to sea, it is actually looking more Northerly than Easterly - so check the weather forecasts for winds accordingly - because when it blows there's nowt between you, it and possibly e-Bay looking for a new tent!

Normally I only comment on sites that I have found to be good and would like to share with others. However, this is an exception. You can only book this site by e-mail and you pay in advance; there is no telephone number. Although unusual I didn’t see a problem; how wrong can you be. You approach this site via a very narrow road with no passing places for about 2 miles. From here you take a concrete road that is so bad it almost shakes you car and caravan to bits. Eventually you reach Bayness Farm and what a reception. Old pallets, old 4x4’s, piles of concert and bricks. Owner's response: The length of the road and our track are in total only a mile long with eleven points at which you can pass
There is an old sign saying “Reception” and an arrow pointing down the yard. I walk in this direction to the farm house. The door was wide open but after relentless calls no reply. Having no idea where to pitch I walked up a small hill to see one or two tents and caravans parked around a field that hadn’t seen a mower for some time, probably all year.
Assuming this was the site I drove the caravan into the field, levelled up one side by 8 inches, that gives you an indication of the ground level, found a hook up and then spent 10 minutes looking for the water tap. In 5 days I never saw the owners or had any contact with them.
When emptying the waste water I had to fight with knee high nettles and weeds, the same when getting fresh water. My honest opinion: this site is not suitable for caravans or if you have a decent car.
If you have a tent and 4x4 its probably ok. Some people have described the site as “rustic” sorry its past that.
A couple of good points: it does have a good view and the toilets were clean.

Fantastic views and lovely walk to Robin hoods bay. Although it is definitely up hill on the way back Pub at the top of the steep hill in Robins hood Bay village with views over the bay serves good meals child friendly but only until 9 at the latest(about 20 - 30 mins walk from the site) and all other food is finished by then.
4X4 course not intrusive whilst we were there. Access road a little entertaining if you are not in anything other than a 4x4 but we managed and my car is anything but a 4x4.
Toilets and showers are unique in lay out but clean and always complete with toilet paper. Would benefit from some sign-age on the doors and when washing up its a bit dark and dingy but clean and certainly adequate.
Once back up the track accessible to all the sights. Really enjoyed our time here although the weather did help!
The grass could be shorter and there are other similar points but its lack of commercialism makes it better - in my eyes any way.
For my daughter and I in a small tent we paid £11 per night - hot water including showers were free

Lovely site with lovely views.
Road up to the site a bit bumpy but was in 4x4 so not too bad.
Very quiet and peaceful, nice walk to rhb first bit is a bit tricky but then it gets easier along the old cinder track. RHB is lovely nice pubs good chippy and good beach for rock pooling. Whitby is about a 5 min drive from site quite difficult to park there we normally park at the abbey and walk down.
The showers and toilets are fine plenty of hot water and at £5 per person per night you cant grumble.
When were in the area again we will def be coming back here we loved it.

This site is certainly well worth a visit. It is in an idyllic location, it is good value for money and the bathroom facilities are clean and adequate.
Robin Hood's Bay is a short walk away and is well stocked with pubs and cafes. (The corner shop in town was a serious let down, so don't forget to bring anything you will need thinking you will be able to pick it up in town).
Check out the route before you leave home because the post code will lead you astray. The directions given by the campsite were good, but follow them first (virtually) on the map to ensure you end up at the right place. The last mile along a very narrow road was a bit hairy.
Mike was friendly and helpful.
My only criticism was the sloping pitches. It was very difficult to get one that was anywhere near level. (You would have to go there to see what I mean. ) We made do, but it got a bit wearing after a day or so. I would certainly visit the site again though. The views of the sea and the tranquillity made up for having to dive off my chair to catch the falling cutlery every meal time.

Great Week, views stunning. Would stay again. Toilets and showers basic but OK. If you want a quiet holiday and great views this is the camp site. No noisy kids, GREAT! Best ever week, feel fully recharged. Site is in the sticks, but on cliff top, with views of the bay. A little hard to find, but worth every minute, never to be forgotten. Have to travel to the shops, as there is not many in the area, but worth it. Robin Hoods Bay is near by, nice little shops, but sad to say lots of hills to climb. Steep Hills. All worth it though. Quite a few pubs at Robin Hoods Bay and a hourly bus service to Whitby and Scarborough. You can save money by buying a weekly saver ticket and visit all kinds of nice places along the coast. Whitby though is very busy now from tourist all round the world. I will go back to Bay Ness Farm any time, and Owner Mike is great and very helpful.

Just back from a very hot and sunny weekend here. Stunning views over the sea - our tent was definitely a room with a view! Nice walk into Robin Hoods Bay. Lovely 'true' camp site, in the sense of basic, clean amenities, peaceful - perfect for a quiet getaway (not many children - hurray). Much more accommodating than others in the area. We were leaving straight after work on Friday so had a late arrival around 9pm - no problem here! Others wouldn't take bookings (which is no good when travelling 3hs to be turned away) and 'no arrivals at 9pm'. I'm glad because the other sites were jam packed full and we had space, peace and views we didn't want to leave. Will definitely return!

Very nice site with tremendous sea views and the most helpful of owners. Close to Robin Hoods Bay village and facilities, always worth a day or two and with easy access to Whitby, Sandsend, Scarborough etc. The toilets and washroom are all good. When we went, it was a bit cool, as the site is quite open but to have the views, it has to be.

As another reviewer pointed out, trying to book this site is a very long winded affair and we ended up just turning up and hoping they could get us in! The owner was very apologetic about the booking mix-up when we got there and let us pitch wherever we wanted.
Just a quick note though. Do not listen to the Sat Nav as it'll take you down to the village and try to take you up a footpath to the farm! Instead turn left just before the church along the single track lane that advertises the 4 X 4 school, through one farm, along a very bumpy concrete road and you'll end up at Bays Farm.
The views are stunning and the site is very quiet, great walk down to Robin Hoods Bay on a cinder track (the one the Sat Nav wanted us to go up!)
The facilities are basic and you will be sharing with a spider or two but there were 4 cubicles each with a toilet, basin and shower and were kept clean. Also indoor washing up facilities.
All in all, a nice site and we will be back
