Beautiful sea views, pleasant site, Mike, camp site owner pleasant and helpful. Nice walk into Robin Hood Bay, (40 minutes).
A little pathway down hill from the site to the cinder track road to the Bay, but not that bad at all.
Would stay again.

A lovely, peaceful, quiet site with plenty of room between units. Beautiful clifftop views from the entire site. Chatty, pleasant owner. Facilities are unisex and always clean and there's enough of them.
Close to the cinder trail to access robin hood's bay and Whitby. Robin hood's bay only 1 mile boa the cinder trail.
Bear in mind that this is not a flat site and you will probably need chocks to level your unit up, but this is north Yorkshire and nowhere is flat.
Overall we had a wonderful time and would certainly return.

We highly recommend Bayness campsite. From our warm welcome from Mike to the superb location with lovely views of the coast and sea. The facilities are decent, much more than adequate. The drive in is a little rickety (on the concrete sleepers) but okay if you take it slow.
Its only a half hour walk into Robin Hood's Bay (along the Cinder path) and very close to the Cleveland Way (we enjoyed a super walk up the coast to Whitby).
It isn't the cheapest (£20 per night for 2 and a tent), although no money needed for showers etc.
We stayed for 5 days (we had great weather, almost no rain - very lucky!) and definitely would return!

Wow what a view! We stayed here for two nights whilst visiting the area, a friend had booked the site and if I’m honest I wasn’t sure about it as it seemed quite expensive but as soon as we arrived my mind was changed.
The owner seemed friendly, a little quirky but really helpful and pointed us in the direction of the least saturated pitches. The site is divided up into two or three camping areas with stone walls surrounding each, all of which are grassed and sloping but we didn’t get stuck and managed to level up ok.
During our stay it was really windy, another camper suggested that we take our silver screen off overnight as his has been damaged and we are glad that he did as we were hit by the tail end of a storm and the site is pretty exposed.
The facilities are a bit rustic, with large chunky wooden doors and stone floors, I found the shower temperatures a bit temperamental but managed to have a hot shower in the end. To be honest thought this all pales into insignificance when you walk out of the toilets up the ramp and see the unspoilt view of the sea and stunning coastline.
Walking is easy into Robin Hoods Bay which is well worth a visit or in the opposite direction to Whitby. We were staggered by the beauty of this coastline it really is worth doing the walk to Whitby along the coast path if not for the view, then at least to reward yourself with Whitby Scampi and Chips!
We’ll return to the area as we were only here for two days and it feels like there is so much more to explore.

An interesting site to say the least, quirky is another good description. Owner is very friendly and a bit of a character, and the site reflects this.
Facilities are fine, not particularly modern, but clean and practical and they were perfectly adequate whilst we were there, although the site was not busy.
Quite exposed high up on the coast, but as a result you are rewarded with fantastic views out to sea, Great walk into either Whitby or Robin Hoods Bay, which are both really lovely places.
Its a long way from home, but I guess if I'm ever in the area I'd happily stay here again.

Had a couple of night stay here whilst exploring the local area. The site has great views out to sea and is handily located for the coast path and Cinder trail (cycleway/footpath).
We had a great walk along the coast path to Whitby, it was also easy to catch the bus back as the bus stop is at the end of the farm track. Robin Hood's bay is a short wander along the Cinder Track and is well worth a visit and has the closest pubs.
The site itself is a little on the quirky side, but we liked it. Before staying here again, I would check out the prices of other campsites as it is priced on the high side, but not sure if this is standard for the area. That aside, a really nice spot.

Just spent 4 nights with friends and 2 dogs.
Great site, lots of room and fantastic views. Robin Hoods Bay is only 20 mins walk away. A supermarket only 10 mins drive away.
Spent hours on the beach searching rock pools and walking the dogs.
Had a lovely time.

We really enjoyed being here.
The owner is really helpful and friendly,
Showed the campsite on arrival and helped us when our car battery was empty, great man.
Also the complete staff is very friendly.
The view is so beautiful, it was really relaxing here.
We had a very nice holiday, it was windy, but spectacular.
Everything is well maintained, clean and all.

Fantastic place panoramic views across the bay, nice hot showers clean toilets.
We were greeted on arrival & shown where everything was & could park wherever we liked. The road up is a tad bumpy but totally manageable & our rickety old van stayed in one piece.
We will definitely be back here.

First a word of warning! If you are coming with a caravan or motorhome make sure that everything is well battened down as the last 1/2 mile of the approach is across concrete sleepers and is a real bone-shaker.
The site is very informal with grass pitches only and it is easy to get bogged down when the ground is wet. I did and no less than 3 lovely gentlemen pushed me off. Hook-ups and water taps are plentiful, but can be awkward to get at as outfits can pitch right up close.
The views are wonderful but there are no hook-ups on the seaward side of the fields, so if you want to pitch there, you will need to use your leisure battery. I didn't use the showers or lavatories as I used my own. The sewage disposal was a little primitive but perfectly adequate.
The owner, Roxx, was very helpful and friendly. There is no formal children's play area, but children all played on the fields which was not a problem. For me the only real downside was a lack of freedom for dogs.
You really have to get down to the lovely dog-friendly beach before you can let them off the lead, either a 40 minute walk or a 10 minute drive to the car parks, quite expensive - £2. 0 an hour, and then more walking through the village streets to the beach.
The walk home up-hill is a bit of a slog. The nearest supermarket is Sainsbury's on the Whitby road, smallish but OK. My stay of 1 week was for convalescence after a chest infection and it fitted the bill excellently. I would happily go again.
