Fantastic site, great views, lovely toilets, nice owners and not overrun with kids. Perfect!

We (me, the wife, and dog) were given a choice of 2 fields to camp in and found a flattish spot with great views. The toilets/showers are individual wet rooms which were clean and tidy.

We had no problems booking (even on the morning of arrival), and a perfect location for Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby, North Yorks Moors. There are lots of walking and cycling routes nearby.

We'll definitely be returning soon.

Just returned from a fantastic 2 days a bayness farm could be signed posted better but sat nav nearly got us there only 100m wrong. Was worth finding was informed could be windy if camped on cliff edge but the views were worth it sat looking out at the bay.

Was very windy 2nd night but tent held firm. Lovely 25min walk to robin hoods bay which is a delight quaint shops and pubs friendly people.

Showers at site clean and plenty of hot water plenty of room to pitch tent no over crowding like some sites just wish grass was cut as got wet feet every time I went to loo will be back loved it

Beautiful views, and decent facilities. Lots of space too - unlike the more popular one closer to the village. You can walk along the coastal path into the village - about 40 mins, and very scenic.

A few negative things - you can only book via email, and in return for your efforts you have to go through a rather terse correspondence which made me feel like I was irritating them by trying to book! When it's windy, any tent with stand-up space will struggle - we had a storm on the second night. The tent stayed put, but was being blown concave! So we had to sleep in the car. Other than that, unbeatable sea views and very quiet.

I stayed here as a last minute break. You have to pre-book which can only be done by email. Trouble is if there is nobody there looking at their emails then you might not get a quick response. Nearly plumped for going somewhere else before I got confirmation.

The access road is very long and narrow with only a couple of small passing places. The final 400 metres is over upturned concrete railway sleepers which vibrates the car terribly.

Mike the owner was a nice guy and helpful. Great site with excellent views. Basic amenities but then that's the idea of camping. Toilets and showers were OK.

Watch the weather forecast for wind speeds. It gets a bit blowy, even on a nice day as you suffer from the sea and land breezes.

Nice walk down to Robin Hoods Bay with access to the Cleveland Way and disused rail line to Whitby and Ravenscar. RHB is picture postcard and I never tire of this place.

The campsite is next to a 4x4 track which is part of the farm. Access to the track is through the farm. Load of guys turned up with 4x4's and trailers with more 4x4's and camped close by me. Good blokes out for a good time and no problem. Some noise from the track but found it interesting to watch them anyway.

In conclusion - a basic site with fantastic views, awkward access to site, great access to good walks. English coast and countryside at its best.

This is just the kind of campsite I love- fairly basic clean facilities (toilets and free hot showers) in a beautiful rural farm setting. This a quiet spot with spectacular views out to sea and down to Robin Hood's Bay.

The owners were lovely and very helpful, showing us around and pointing out the route into town/ to Whitby. They even gave us business cards for a local taxi firm that will bring you back to the site if the walk back seems too much! The adjacent off-road centre is unobtrusive and makes little noise which I had been worried about.
At only £9 a night for two of us (the two dogs were free) I also can't complain about the price! The camping field was on a bit of a slope and the site would be rather exposed in strong winds but the fantastic setting more than make up for this.

The walk into Robin Hood's Bay took about 20mins to the edge of town and probably nearer 40 mins down to the jetty. You walk down a path along the edge of the Off-Road centre to meet a disused railway line that goes to RHB on the right and to Whitby (7 miles) to the left. The route is very pretty with good views across the bay so it didn't seem too far! Coming back is more of a proposition- there is a steep climb up from the old town and then another steep climb up through the off-road centre but we tended to do it in stages! Anyway the exercise was good for wearing off the beer and pub meals!

The campsite was very quiet at night- not really a site for big noisy groups. It seemed to be mostly couples staying there and the odd young family. I would thoroughly recommend this site if you like peace and quiet and are looking for little more than basic facilities.

Robin Hood's Bay is a fantastic old fashioned little seaside town with a lovely beach complete with rockpools to explore and a good selection of pubs, cafes and little shops. It is very picturesque with higgledy-piggledy pan tiled cottages crammed together along its steep lanes. It's great for young families and is very dog friendly.

Stayed here beginning of August, the views are stunning. The site is situated at the top of a cliff which overlooks the sea, fantastic to wake up to. On a clear night the stars were amazing saw lots of shooting stars while we we there.
Toilets and showers clean with constant hot water and there are two large sinks for pot washing. You can walk to Robin Hoods Bay, and Whitby is about ten minutes by car.A bit windy while we were there but didn't spoil our enjoyment. A lovely campsite would definitely stay there again.

We first visited this site in 2004 and remains one of our favourites. Very basic with one facilities block but clean and and in a wonderful setting.

On a working farm and we were all made to feel welcome. Can get pretty windy I imagine on the cliff top but we have been lucky.

Not far from whitby yet doesn't feel touristy and is not a jam packed site.

Whitby is however a lovely town with the famous abbey and steps!Dont miss out on robin hoods bay though a pearl of a place.

The site is close to the famous Jurassic coastline as well down a pleasant path.

When describing what our next trip was to be, ! A field, tap, loo and a view to die for. This place delivers on all counts! the track into the site is really bumpy but adds to the adventure/unusual entrance to a site.
We're not talking haven here! windy and on arrival a ramshackle farm, friendly wellie wearing site owner.

Pick your own pitch, drive up more concrete sleepers to the most amazing view we and our little van of dreams have seen. Truly amazing, the site is rough and ready and thats the joy of this place. Imagine camping sites in the 50s! pitched up we took advantage of a completly uninterupted view and put kettle on.

Loos etc are basic and rough low farm buildings, again adding to the rustic charm of this gem. At night the wind was so bad we think the van was on on wheel at one time, quite exciting. No tv so we watched the wind blow tents around and obviously the view.

RH Bay is postively a film set of a place, quite charming and you cant imagine a more lovely place to come for a couple of days. We are coming again . (use good tent pegs though!)

My wife and I were planning on staying here over Easter however the wintery weather changed our plans for us. On arrival the very helpful owner warned us that it may be 'slightly difficult' to erect our tent in 30-40 mph winds and let us inspect the site before taking our money. After wandering up to the pitching area we were inclined to agree that we didn't stand much chance of getting the tent up in such windy conditions. The owner, who had just lost paying customers, then recommended several other campsites lower down and we strongly suspect that we weren't the only campers that he had lost that weekend and sent on to other campsites.

We can't comment on any of the facilities or what the site is like to stay at but we can only commend the owner for bending over backwards to help us when he was not going to profit from it.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for two nights this past weekend. It was our first time camping (apart from festivals etc) and we wanted somewhere remote and as little like a holiday park as possible. We couldn't have asked for more staying here. Cheap as chips and with all the facilities you usually want. Nice hot showers, lovely and clean toilets, recycling facilities etc.

The best part about the site at Bayness Farm (apart from the lovely owner who was extremely friendly and helpful to us) is the spectacular views. Amazing. We pitched on the field in front of where most of the caravans were pitched and had a field to ourselves. The view was something special to wake up to and just as stunning on a night. There is a 4X4 off road centre nearby but this didn't disturb us at all. So peaceful.

Robin Hoods Bay is like something from a children's story book and only a short walk. Very picturesque and quaint village with the steepest footpath ever. Funny to climb after you have relaxed in the pub at the bottom for most of the day : ) We also visited Whitby and Scarborough and had a weekend that felt like a week. Definitely coming back to Bayness Farm again. Highly recommended to all.
