My partner and I have just returned from this site with our friends. The site itself is just what we wanted: quiet and basic.
Like other reviews have said, if its glamping you're after, this is not your place. However if you want an unspoilt site, amazing views and peace and quiet this is the only place to come.
The washrooms are fine, hot water was never an issue and they were clean and tidy.
The only word of warning is be prepared for the wind. Obviously as the site is so exposed, conditions can change rapidly. Just bring lots of warm clothing, secure your tent firmly and you can't go wrong. We liked it that much we booked an extra night.
We took a walk to Robin Hoods Bay along the cinder track and the dogs loved the beach. (Dogs allowed all year round at RHB).
Maybe not suitable for families who want more from a campsite ie playground etc.
The 4 x 4 centre next door is excellent too.

Hi
Just a quick reminder to those camping with us this year to please read the directions we send you before you set off.
Sat nav may not get you to us the map facility on the UKCampsite.co.uk site is also very useful for finding us as it enables you to see the route using Google streetview.
We have a full range of facilities including waste disposal points and hook ups for caravans and motorhomes (sorry not for tents at the moment)although these do book out very early for busy times for example we have non left now for the August bank holiday
Thanks
Mike

I stayed here with a group of 20 friends for an 'off roading' weekend. The on site (off road) course was excellent, with great view of the coastline. The campsite is on an incline and is very windy so make sure you batten down the hatches. The site facilities are warm, clean and well kept. The site owner was very friendly and always happy to help. Robin Hood's Bay village is only a couple of miles down the road and is well worth the visit. The price for camping and use of the off road site for our group was excellent.

The views are amazing and very much the attraction of this secluded site, with beautiful sunsets and sun-rises on a clear day/night.
My wife is a keen photographer so loved our short break, and even the weather was kind to us. Good facilities 4 'wet' rooms inc. Toilet, basin, and shower in each, which are regularly cleaned and replenished.
Quiet campsite with friendly owners who take pride in their site, even the road club at the weekend did not disturb the calm and relaxed atmosphere.
There are plenty of walks, locally to Robin Hood's Bay or 12 miles (the scenic route!) to Whitby; the site is not on the main road and you should take note of the directions to ensure you don't get lost.
Would recommend to anyone wanting traditional, value for money campsite

This site makes me laugh. Don't know why just does. Maybe its the wittiness of the owner? Not sure lol. Good site, grass could do with cutting a bit and its a bit slopey. The views are immense! Had a MAJOR thunderstorm whilst there which was quite a laugh and funny. Not for those though whose tent blew over. So be prepared. Outwell steel framed tent all the way I'd suggest!
Showers are okay. However full of spiders which didn't go down too well with the mrs. This is probably because the building work is rather 'stuck together'. You will know what I mean when you visit. Path to the site is very very bumpy. I will definitely go again though just for the entertainment.

This site is picturesque, with fabulous views of Robins Hood Bay. The fields are slightly sloping and exposed but apart from a windy arrival, the rest of the weekend was superb.
We were greeted on arrival by the very friendly and helpful owner, who advised us of the best place to pitch our tent and showed us round the site.
The facilities are basic but very clean and free, hot showers were a bonus.
It was only a short walk from the farm into Robins Hood Bay and a short drive to Whitby. Both were beautiful places to spend the weekend strolling about.

Visited this site in August, looking for a quiet site off the beaten track with basic but clean facilities and couldn't believe our luck. Shower/toilet and washing up facilities were great, cleaned regularly and brilliant for families as unisex.
Lovely walk along cinder track path to Robinhoods Bay. Amazing views from the campsite, breezy at times so a windbreak is useful.
Owner very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed it so much we added another night to our stay, and didn't have to leave until 6pm. (site wasn't full) so that was a bonus. Hoping to go back soon.

We stayed at Bay Ness Farm for 3 nights and had a great time. The field is on a slope and the first night was blowing a bit of a gale so positioning of tents is something to consider. However, this close to the sea you get a great view but pay for it a little being very exposed to the elements. Can't be helped and the gorgeous view was well worth a nervous night.
Toilets are clean and stocked with toilet roll. The toilet block was checked and cleaned at least twice each day as far as we could tell. Showers are iffy as far as hot water, one norming I had it and one I didn't. It didn't seem to be as much about timing as luck from what we could tell.
4x4 group and all other campers considerate and even on saturday night were in bed at a reasonable hour with minimal general campsite type noise late at night.
Staff are friendly and helpful (as are the locals).
Overall, great value camping with more facilities than I expected for the price charged. Great weekend. Very recommended for those looking for a cheap but not too basic campsite.

We were looking for somewhere lovely to spend the weekend and boy did we find it! This site could not have been more lovely, pitches looking right over the bay, swifts flying low over the field and lovely calm atmosphere.
First of all I should say how easy it was to get booked, a couple of emails was all it took and I could pay in advance using paypal - easy peasy! The directions for the site were excellent, no sat nav required and although I did hear some neighbouring campers grumble about meeting a tractor coming the other way on the road in we simply took this as an opportunity to get out of the car and take in the excellent view whilst the lads on the tractor finished up their job.
We were met almost instantly upon arrival and wee given a good tour of the site, told the basics about where to pitch and then left to enjoy our weekend. Some of the pitches looked quite sloped but we didn't have any problems and had a completely unspoilt view of the bay for the 2 days we were there - even with quite a full camp site!
As I say, the site was quite busy with lots of camper vans and tents but I did not queue for the bathrooms or the washing up facilities - both of which were spotless with lots of lovely warm water. There were plenty of families and groups but the noise level was low and the atmosphere was lovely and friendly with plenty of 'good morning's' over the camp stove.
I would definitely go back to this site and would recommend to anyone thinking of staying in the Whitby area.

We booked to stay for 2 nights but only managed the one. The wind kept us awake and we were not able to shower or wash the dishes as the facilities were dirty. The unisex toilets lack natural daylight and fresh air.
The grass was too long and we had to search for the water.
I lost both a holiday and money after stopping on this site. I wouldn't wish to stay there again and would not recommend it to anyone.
