We camped at Sunnydale last weekend. Stella and Bill made us very welcome and found adjacent pitches for us so our family group could be together.
The site is flat and very spacious so the children had a great time running around. The facilities were spotless with plenty of hot water.
We were concerned that the recent rain would have left the ground a bit 'soggy' but the site has great drainage so no problems there.
Had a great night's sleep - fit for windsurfing the next day! Great location for Hillhead, Lee-on-Solent or Stokes Bay.

We arrived at the site for a week stay, during the wettest period in UK ever, but the campsite could cope so excellent drainage. The owners and caretaker were great & took a pride in their campsite & rightly so. Virtually perfect, if a little on the expensive side - particularly if in a tent.
All the facilities you could ask for :
4 showers in each the gents and ladies (underfloor heating) toilets and basins - all clean & tidy.
Washing up room / laundry room - clean & tidy (with microwave, kettle & freezer)
Generous size pitches
The list goes on.
We had a great stay, apart from a large group staying for 2 nights whom commandeered the site - without regard to neighbouring pitches, but c'est la vie.
Highly recommended.

We arrived at Sunnydale and were shown to our pitch, we were put in the tent field, but we have a folding caravan, we asked if we could move onto the main caravan site, Stella was lovely and said that's fine and moved things around so we could be moved. Pitches were very big and we had plenty of room even with awning up.
Site was clean and tidy. Showers were free and were clean and hot, maybes a bit too hot for me. The kids loved the chickens that roamed the site.
There isnt anything for the kids, but we don't mind as we use it as a base and explore the area. Stella was very helpful and goes out of her way to help you. There was plenty of leaflets of things to do in the area giving you ideas of where to go. Stella gave us some ideas as well, she even phoned the local swimming pool to find out times for us.
They have a nice laundry room, with washer, dryer, iron and ironing board. Washer was £2 and dryer 50p for 25 minutes, which was cheap as the next site we used charged £3 for washer and £2 for 25 minutes for dryer!
We took the ferry to the Isle of Wight which is a lovely island well worth a visit, but do take your car.
There is a couple of pubs in the area serving food, there is a pub within half a mile, which was very popular but serves basic pub grub, ideal if you want a night off from cooking.
Would definitely recommend this site and would definitely use again if in that area. Its good value for money and staff are very friendly and make you very welcome. Its a shame its not closer to us.

Fantastic site & facilities. The new toilet & laundry block were clean at all times & the welcome we got from the site warden was great.
The only drawback for us was the close proximity to a very busy road(which we are not used to hearing at home).
The surrounding area was very pretty & the seafront was a short drive away. Also there was a very nice park which we went to on Saturday afternoon, ideal for the kids.
The Tesco store was handy too. All in all a very nice place & we will definitely return at some point next year.

We used this site as a one night stopover both before and after a holiday in France.
As other reviewers have noted, the pitches are spacious and level and the site is very convenient for ferry crossings to Portsmouth.
The women's toilet and shower facilities were clean, but unfortunately the same could not be said of the men's. The site is quite expensive, and there is some road noise, but it is very handy for the M27 and the ferry routes.
The nearby village of Hamble is a delightful place for an evening stroll.

Very easy to book and a nice welcome awaited us.
We were allowed to choose our pitch on the top exercise field as we had asked for a larger pitch -we had nearly all the field to ourselves.
Night time noise was minimal. The occasional siren and some barely noticeable aircraft noise. We were treated to some lovely Irish folk music from the other field which was pleasant our only complaint was it didn't go on for long enough! We pitched away from the road so traffic noise wasn't a problem.
The toilet block was in immaculate condition, regularly cleaned. The individual showers were clean and had their own changing area. Liquid soap and toilet roll was provided and I liked the ultra violet lights on the hand dryers -nice touch.
There's a huge Tesco store about 2 miles away and a co-op in the lovely Netley Abbey village.
I popped in to Dee-Lites to get a haircut and the girls gave me priceless info on places to visit. At the end of the Village High St is the Royal Victoria Park which has a Steam train, Gardens, playgrounds and a beach! well worth checking out. Netley Abbey is also an ideal base to visit the New Forest and Poulton Park.
We loved Sunnydale. Great for stargazing and frisbee throwing children. There was no play area for the kids but take a few bats and balls, a frisbee and see if the kids care.

Spent three nights over the weekend and site was quite busy. The directions of how to get there from M27 accurate and helpful.
Site is well laid out with very generous pitches and the serviced plots have water, EHU and waste water drainage. Very convenient.
There were four showers in the gents and three sinks however I never had to queue for any facility. They always seemed clean and looked after. The warden was friendly and helpful.
There were three potwash sinks in their own heated room including two additional clothes washing sinks, again well kept.
The site was level and we found it to be peaceful with only occasional traffic near by. People used site for ease of access to ferries. Dogs were allowed but all the ones we saw were kept on a lead so no trouble.
Did not see a children's play area but ours are fully grown. Children playing on site were no bother.
Would visit again if in area. Good supermarket five minute drive from site.

We stayed here for a couple of nights before sailing to Isle of Wight. Clean modern site.
Clean new toilet block with plenty of toilets and basins. Nice showers, did not use laundry facilities.
Walked into village for a drink in the two pubs a small shop in the village sold papers bread and milk.
There was a bus stop just before the village, we went into Hanley, lovely little spot.
Would use this site again if down south. Near to main Portsmouth road and touring South Coast and only 20 minutes from ferry terminal.

We stayed here over the bank holiday weekend and had a fab time, the site is level well maintained the pitches are very generous in size we had our caravan an awning our car and still had room on the pitch,
the toilets and showers were spotless every visit with even hand soap provided even with the site full there was no waiting, there's even a field provided to walk your dogs off the lead and to play ball games.
The owners were lovely showed us our pitch explained the site the fact every pitch had a hook up point and tap and waste water next to them was ideal.
The washing up area was fantastic with three basins and drainers a tumble dryer (50p I think ) a washing machine, iron, microwave, info section, clothes washing sinks who could ask for more !
There is plenty to do in the area the kids were shattered There are two pubs in walking distance both with parks and a village just down the road with a co op, and array of take aways.
The only thing we felt would improve the site was a children's play area and possibly a shop.
We were very surprised this was not a c&cc site I have been to sites that are not a patch on this one thanks for a great stay Stella and co and we look forward to returning

We stayed at this site in a folding camper over the Royal wedding weekend. We also had people in a motorhome and a tent staying as part of our group.
The showers and toilets were immaculate and there was enough space for the children to play and ride their bikes. They also made friends with the horses in another field. We had our own EHU and water taps next to our units and the pitches were a really good size. We had no problems with noise and were close to the Tesco Extra at Bursledon and Royal Victoria Park.
Reading the other reviews before we went I couldn't understand what people meant by it being characterless and souless. But having been now, I would tend to agree. There's nothing wrong with it and it ticks a lot of boxes. But it was expensive and didn't have a lot of atmosphere, that sometimes other sites have and it's hard to put a finger on why this is. That said, I would recommend it for a stay but maybe not a holiday.
