This site gets an 'OK' from us. The toilet facilities, which were located in porta cabins were not too special, but I note that there is a new block under construction which should improve matters. They are trying very hard to be environmentally responsible, which is very laudable and should be supported by all who stay. Unfortunately, when I went to put some cardboard in the allotted (and very clearly marked) bin, somebody had thrown in an overstuffed bag of mixed waste. I tried to remove it to the correct bin but the bag was too flimsy too move. How annoying for the owners.
The owners seemed friendly and helpful and it was good to have electric and water all in place right by the van.
The site is level and well kept. The road which runs along side it is just a little noisy as, rather surprisingly, is the adjoining farm track.
There is a good dog walking area and all facilities - pubs, shops etc are located nearby, including a huge Tesco Extra.
Would we go back again? Well as we live very close by, probably not. But don't let that put you off.

Just spent a few weeks on this lovely open site. The owners are exceptionally friendly and do everything they can to make you welcome. Really big pitches on lovely flat grass field. Electric hook up / water and grey waste disposal on each pitch. Only portacabin toilets at the moment which were clean and adequate. Super large shower block well on the way to being completed for next year. Best if you have your own facilities at the moment but not essential. Loads to do see in the area, great rail service along the coast.
Despite the site being full with loads of tents at the weekend, it was always quiet and relaxing. Lots of space for children to play.
Would definitely recommend this site.

We chose this site because of the previous reviews and the fact that it was fairly close to home as we were only staying for 2 nights, and we were not disappointed.
Again the owners were very friendly and helpful, and as we were a group of 4 units we were put on 2 huge pitches where we could pitch opposite eachother rather than in a line, and we still had loads of room. I felt this was really thoughtful on Stella's part.
The site was lovely and clean and well laid out. There was a bit of road noise but this posed no problem.
With regard to the toilets, there were 3 ladies toilets and 2 mens with 2 urinals, both in portacabins whilst the building work is being carried out, which were spotlessly clean at all times. The site was fairly quiet so there was no problem but not sure how they would fair if the site was full. The owners have made a shower available at the back of their house with another at the front as an emergency, again not sure how this would work if the site was full.
Overall the site was really nice and we would definitely use again once the toilet & shower blocks have been completed. (the building work looks very impressive!)

My partner and I stayed here with a 3-man tent and 2 dogs. The site was about 1/3 full during our visit so not too crowded regarding toilet access etc. This is a nice farm-style site close to Southampton and near the river Hamble surrounded by trees and fields.
Booking was easy and Stella Matthews' (owner) communicates clearly, quickly and is very helpful and welcoming.
The pitches, especially for a tent, were huge and there was loads of space. Also, there's a dog walking area which was great for us. The site is fairly neat though at the entrance there's still a lot of building work going on and this is because the new toilet / shower block is only about 1/2 complete.
There's a perfectly acceptable, though compact, temporary toilet facility which was clean and though OK for calls of nature, it wasn't useful for washing anything more than your hands. There's a single shower in the Matthews' home at the site entrance, which you enter via a separate door, and while it was clean and absolutely fine for our needs, I probably wouldn't want to have to use it if the site was busy.
Overall, a nice, neat, green, compact, well proportioned site which will be excellent when the toilet / shower block is completed.

We have just had a week-end stay. At this site. They have a new toilet block with hand basins hot and cold water. The owners of this site are slowly upgrading this site to a high standard. And should be praised for what they trying to do.As this takes time, bearing in mind it is run by a husband and wife team. And it annoys me when you get a review that was submited by the robinsons. We used this site the same month and found no problems with toilet and shower that was supplied at the time. Use this site you will not be disappointed.

This is a lovely, lovely campsite the couple are so helpful and kind. We were greeted late evening and shown our pitch. Although the toilets are temporarily with 2 showers the cleanliness is wonderful. They have maintained the best standards in that department, which has surprised me. We nearly trod on a hedgehog in the night time in the dog walking area it is lovely. The pitches are very roomy (not crammed) flat and hedged all the way round. I would personally like to thank the site's couple for understanding why we had to cut the stay shorter due to unforeseen circumstances you made it easier for us and even left the pitch open for one more night for our return, unfortunately two days later sadly my nan has passed away. Thank you for your kind words before we left and we will come back one day again through better circumstances. We would recommend anyone to visit this site and be sure that as their facilities up grade be sure to book early as their customer service and warmth shall make this site a hot spot to camp!

Good price only £12 a night the ground is very good with water and electric to most pitches the owners were very nice But that's where it ends the toilets were the worst I have ever seen and the shower was a porta cabin The owners did say you could use their house but they wanted only women and kids in there but I did manage to sneak in The owners did say that they have plans to build a shower and toilet block but this would not be till 2008 I would go back if I was staying over before catching a ferry or moving on somewhere else

Did not realise we had such a nice site so close to us. The site is very well maintained, flat level pitches. Hook-ups on all pitches. Although in the process of building toilet and shower block, the on site arrangements are very clean. Nice pubs, farm-shop, Tescos are all very close by. Good large dog walking area. The owners of this site could not be more helpful. I would recommend this site to any campers of all sizes.
