Just spent the weekend here, lovely clean site with helpful friendly wardens. Showers/toilets were exceptionally clean and lots of hot water. What really impressed me was the dog walking/exercise area - not many sites have 'off lead' areas but there was a field at the back of the site that we were able to exercise them in 'off lead'. Definitely would return and recommend to others.

No welcome. 2 people on reception no greeting not even 'hello can I help you' just looked up and waited for me to ask if they had room for a small tent 1 person with no electricity for 1 night. Then head down to the computer and a 'yes that will be £20 cash or card' I really felt like saying thanks but I think I will try somewhere else but I had been driving all day. I duly paid my £20 and was shown to the pitch. The site is nothing special just three fields next to a road one field with hook ups and some hard stands, one for tents and a larger event field at the back. The field behind the toilet block had general unwanted farm junk dumped down the far edge. Facilities were clean but small for quite a big site. The surrounding area was about half a mile away from urban housing, with takeaways and mini supermarkets pub etc. The site is fine for one night stopover but I wouldn't want to stay there any longer or go back.

We spent a lovely weekend at this site prior to a visit to the Isle of Wight. The site is clean and tidy with good toilet block. Pitches are spacious and well defined. The staff are very friendly and helpful, with good local knowledge. Stella gave us good advice about how to get to the ferry without incurring a large fee for the toll bridge into Southampton. The bus stop into Southampton is just over 5 minutes walk along the road but care is needed when walking as traffic can be busy and the roadside path precarious. The largest car boot sale in the South is nearby on Sundays, a walk of 20 minutes near Tesco, taxis can be called for the journey home. Yes there is some traffic noise from the adjacent road but did not detract from our stay and died down late at night. Southampton itself was disappointing, with NO tourist information office due to cutbacks but the site office has plenty of leaflets with details of where to go. If we were in the area, we would definitely stay here again.

Well we had a superb 3 days (my grandson & I), the site was wonderful, the owners very welcoming and the facilities exceptional, there is an Iron, microwave & freezer all in the laundry come washing up room, the toilet block was lovely. Went for the hook up option just an extra £2 per night. The site is gently lit so that at night when you get caught short it not too scary.

We went to visit the Historic docks so used the Park & Ride into Portsmouth, excellent service easy to get to just £2. 00 to park for the day (might be a bit more now) Gunwharf Quays is amazing plenty to see with lots of choices for eating, we chose Wagamamas on the top deck, it was yummy. Then walked down to Southsea, found the Hovercraft station, Lewis who is just 6 was enthralled, did, on the Saturday take a trip over to the Isle of Wight. From the camp site its not far down to Hamble-Le-Rice, do go Port Hamble Marina has a wonderful restaurant and more boats that you can shake a stick at. On the way on Hamble lane look for the sign to the 'Yacht catering co' on Ensign Way trundle down to the end there is a viewing area, you can sit in the car and watch the jet ski guys do their thing, also you can watch the Cruise liners gently 'chug' out of Port.

We had an amazing 3 days.

A very pleasant site, pitch large slightly uneven in parts,

Drained well after rain, due to open fields all round the winds can whip up and give your tent a pounding, so would recommend making sure you tent is well pegged down.

We had EHU the socket was in the caravan park section which was quite a length for use, something to consider if you have a short lead on where to place your tent.

The staff very helpful and friendly lots of local information

Toilets always clean and tidy and warm, PB shower.

We also had a friendly cockerel and 2 hens visit our tent and make them selves at home ever tea time.

All in all would recommend site.

All the good things said about this site are accurate, it really is a well equipped and spotlessly clean site with everything you need for a good weekend away. It's not quaint or picturesque, but laid out in a functional and purposeful way. We used it as a base for exploring Portsmouth and the surrounding area over a bank holiday weekend, and it was perfect for us. I think there may have been mention of road noise somewhere, yes the occasional car or bike does travel too fast (and noisily) down the adjoining road and we got some distant traffic noise I think once, but not enough to detract from our pleasure.

Some additional things you might find useful.

We went twice to the Mill House pub which is a Fayre & Square chain pub and 10 minutes walk, this was fairly cheap and cheerful and if you choose wisely you'll get okay food, and great if you have kids. We also went to The Cottage pub which is about 8 minutes walk, this was a small superb pub with great ales and lovely food, we'd have eaten there twice but they don't do food on Sunday nights.

And finally Portsmouth. We had a great 2 days visiting the sights, there's a new scheme where you can purchase a ticket that covers all the maritime attractions and river ferrys between them, here's a tip, if you visit the Submarine museum first and then get the ferry from there, it'll save you driving in to the center of Portsmouth (and the parking's free!).

Stayed here four nights, could not have found a better site in the area. Facilities are excellent, shower/toilet block spotless, utility room great, could not want anything more. The only downside is the pubs are too far to walk for me, but called for food on way back from the cricket. Will hopefully be back in the middle of May. Would definitely recommend for a quiet relaxing break.

This was our second trip here for Christmas through to New Year having first visited in 2012 and deciding to visit again this year as it is a great location for cycling around Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Southsea etc.

The site is owned by Bill and Stella and they are some of the friendliest and nicest wardens we have ever met.

The weather was stormy with floods and gales so we had to change our arrival and departure days to go with the weather, and they could not be more accommodating to our needs. On arrival Stella greeted us with a warm welcome and went out of her way to make sure she was on site when we arrived. She showed us to an extra large pitch she had reserved for our 8m van, but the waste was on the wrong side, so she allocated us a more suitable pitch with all the connections on the right side.

While we were there several people got their cars stuck on the grass area (which we really couldn't believe people could be so silly as to drive on in all the rain) and Bill had the patience of a saint pulling them off with his truck and mending all the ruts they made.

The weather was very unpredictable and we were quite worried about towing our unit home, being such a long unit, but Bill rang us on our mobiles and made arrangements for us just to pack up our van and leave it on the hardstanding and then he would tow it to his back garden and keep it for us until we could get back down and fetch it safely another weekend. We actually didn't need to take him up on his offer as the storm broke into a beautiful day on our departure so we set off early to get home, but Bill asked us to text them and let them know we were home safe.

The site itself has been improved since last year, with pitches being edged and made wider. The site is a little bland and featureless and could benefit from some flower beds, shrubs and perhaps some mini hedges in between some of the pitches just to give it some features and colour, however, I would imagine a lot of people stop over on this pitch for ferries to France, so perhaps there is just one of those sites that does not have longer term holiday makers.

It has excellent fire fighting equipment dotted all over the site, which is good to see, is lit at night, and has a nice large toilet and shower block, which are clean and well presented.

There was not a light over the elsan emptying point which made it quite dangerous at night, but once mentioned to Stella, she had Bill fixing a light up there the next day so well done for taking the feedback on board.

Perhaps some simple touches now need adding like a dispenser of hand cleanser in the Elsan shed so you can just clean your hands before touching the door handle of the toilet block to go in and wash them properly after emptying the elsan, and it would be easier to have some kind of bench in there to balance the toilet on, it is a little awkward, but the hose works well. Like that touch.

All in all I would go back again as its perfect for what we want to do and they are such a great couple.

This was our first visit to this site and It will not be our last.

Great welcome and taken to my hard standing pitch, The site is set out very well, Toilets very clean and the Showers very clean. Great location with Victoria Country Park a very nice walk away from the site. Found this walk in a small guide written by the site owner and given to me on my arrival. Very large Tesco on route from junction 8. Of the M27 to the site and a Fish and Chips just off route. We found the site very peaceful and the main road traffic is no problem and had a good night's sleep on both nights. Also dog friendly with on site walking area.

My wife and I spent 4 nights at this campsite in a tent.

The owners, Bill and Stella, and staff were most helpful and informative at all times and genuine friendly people.

The pitching area is level, dry, large, and units widely spaced. Very quiet in the campsite, and I did not hear any traffic noise either.

Toilets and showers were always very clean, always paper in the toilet holders.

All the showers had all the fittings (the very necessary coat hooks ), none missing, as well as a fold down seat in the shower cubicle to use while changing (pity more places don't have this.

A wash room for pots/utensils with a freezer(, microwave, kettle, washing machines and tumble drier, A few basic supplies and milk in the main office/reception. (very big superstore a mile away)

Well sited for Southampton and the Hamble (the Itchin Toll bridge costs 50p (60p rush hour) and takes one quickly to the docks or city centre.

Will stay here again and recommend it highly to anyone visiting the area
