'Come on Bank Farm, you can do better!' - Thats my message after staying at Bank Farm recently over a weekend period. We stayed on this wonderfully located site last year and found it clean, tidy and well kitted out for children and adults alike but our brief weekend recently found that dustbins were full, showers dirty, swimming pool area unkempt and littered with rubbish and left behind newspapers, toilet facilities blocked and locks on doors broken. Noise was an issue - dont expect to have a good nights sleep until after 2am - music from car radios blasting and kids riding around on bikes until the early hours. That said, this is a fantastically located site, with views across the bay and lovely pub just down the road (steep incline on walk back!). The beach is clean and great for the kids. I agree with the previous reviews regarding the approach roads to the site - the A4118 is not ideal for large motorhomes or caravans - instead take the recommended Junction 47 off the M4 - speak to Bank Farm and they will give you alternative directions - they are much easier than trying to navigate the windy roads with high walls either side ready to clip your wing mirrors or overhanging branches crashing into the side of your caravan! Back to the site - dog walking facilities excellent, I didnt find dog fouling an issue - shop great stocks most things and staff friendly. Field 3 is best as you have views across the bay, Field 5 is flatter but no view at the low points. Summary - this site is well located and is excellent for the kids - plenty todo even without good weather. All the negatives mentioned above can be overcome and personally, would not put me off staying there in future. In all one of those sites which the location overrides the negative points which can all be easily overcome - Definitely worth considering for all ages.

Visited this site for a weekend in June and liked it very much. It is a lovely location on the Gower Peninusla, high up on the cliffs overlooking the sea. The site itself was of good standard and it can get very busy & a little noisy at night. Nice flat pitches. Has a shop and a bar/ restaurant. Has electric hook ups if wanted. The toilets were clean as were the showers but there was no soap or toilet paper in the toilet area. I would recommend this site and visit it again.

August 2005 We spent four nights here with several other families. Nice to be all pitched together. Sadly quite a lot of litter and the toilet block (only one for a big site) was very dated and below an acceptable level of cleanliness. Outside the washing up area wasn't much better where food was often left floating in the sinks. Next to this was the rubbish area which in the four days we were there was not emptied. The other unpleasant thing was cars driving around the site to in the middle of the night to get to the loo block. The scenery around here and the beaches are first class to which I would return

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Bank Farm the facilities for both children and adults are fantastic. The site was clean and tidy and the staff were not overbearing. Had no trouble with noise in the night other campers were friendly and respectful. The views over Port Eynon are stunning. A great site that we'll return to.

Well, where do I start? We arrived at the site last Saturday, it looked quite nice, the views were the best thing. Got shown to our pitch which was in field 5 I think it was. Nice level field. Water points in various places, you had to go looking for them as there was no 'map' of the site or anything like that. No plugs in the washing up sinks, a pain if you've forgotten to bring your bowl, lack of loo roll, it seemed it was only replenished once a week, most toilets didn't flush properly, some of the 'flush handles' were almost off the wall! I think they were only cleaned once a day around 5 in the morning, still lots of grass & muck on the floors afterwards. Although I did get a bit of warm water in the showers, my Husband didn't. Shop OK although the staff didn't come across that friendly especially once they heard my accent. Felt a bit intimidated when they started speaking in Welsh. It said the shop opened at 8.30am, but found out on the Thursday it was actually open at 8, probably for the more 'regular' visitors. A nuisance it shut at 6, probably a bit before as their clock was forward 5 mins as I discovered when I wanted a token for the washing machines, (launderette shut at 5, last wash at 4) I asked for it about 3.55, was told it was too late, I wasn't amused. Only sat outside the club place, too crowded inside, didn't eat there either, walked along the bottom road into Port Eynon most evenings to the Ship. Had a few take aways from the site, not bad food although the chips could have been cooked a tad longer! Pool always packed, there was a rule that anyone under 15 had to be accompanied by an adult, that didn't seem to come into force until Wednesday when I think a few of the older swimmers complained about the amount of youngsters that were bombing & such like. Not really a proper lifeguard, seemed the ones in the food place took it in turns to sit outside & make themselves seen. The ladder into the pool at the deep end was very wobbly & the water wasn't very warm. Very noisy at night, lots of shouting & karaoke lasting well into the early hours. Not by children I hasten to add! Could do with a security patrol a few times a night just to control the noise. Lovely area, walked for miles, tried not to spend too much time on the site. (Hello to the nice friendly couple I spoke to when I eventually managed to get to the launderette)! :O) Was supposed to be there until Saturday, we'd had enough & left Thursday afternoon.

Stayed there for 2 nights in July 2006, and put on a field about a kilometer away from reception. The views are great over the beach and the setting is lovely, however, the toilet and shower blocks are grimy, the adjacent container dustbins were full and smelly, the playground is dated and hazardous. Shame!

Just back from a glorious week on the Gower where one of the many highlights was the view from the rally field at Bank Farm, well worth the trek to the loos, shop and early-closing laundrette. Just one point. Touring caravanners and those with larger motorhomes will NOT enjoy the approach via the A4118 as suggested on this website. Several parts of that road are too narrow for a caravan and bus or tractor and trailer to pass and passing places are not that abundant. Although it looks tempting to leave the M4 and J42 and approach via Sketty and the 4118, Bank Farm recommends customers to stay on the M4 until J47 and approach via the A483 and 484, following the B4295 to Llanrhidian, turning sharp left around the garage there onto the B4271, sharp right towards Reynoldston then sharp left on entering Reynoldston emerging opposite the police house and turning right on the last four miles of the 4118 avoiding all but one of the tricky bits. By the way, my recollection is of a LEFT turn just beyond the Gower Holiday Village and rugby ground towards Horton followed by a right onto the site. We used this route on the way out and it is MUCH easier, well worth the extra mileage.

Good site. Large ptches that are well spaced. A huge field for playing. The toilets were OK but a bit dark and the showers were cold at 5.30am. Pool a little on the cool side and deep (which I like but beware with kids). The shop is small but fairly well stocked. Friendly, helpful staff. Overall highly recommended.

Had a great weekend at Bank Farm - camped as part of a large group in the electric hook-up field. The views from here are wonderful. Site was great and ther children had a lovely time - pool was a wonderful hit. Site was busy but shower blocks always clean. Playground was in a bit of a state - broken glass and wobbly railings. Club house and shop very well stocked. Would recommend and definitely planning on returning soon

Bank Farm is in a lovely location in the village of Horton, There's a steep walk down to a beautiful beach which wasn't too busy, The site itself is large with lots of static caravans but the main tent field is flat with good grass. There are plenty of showers and toilets which seemed reasonably clean & tidy
The clubhouse was ok and there's benches outside with great views of the sea and a play area which was out of sight down a bank. We had our 18 month-old who wanted to crawl around but there was too much broken glass around the benches.
I'd avoid this site at weekends in future because the noise from all night parties kept us all awake. We did complain but were told that the only rule about noise was that people turn off their music at 11:00pm. The Sunday night was much quieter and we did manage to get some sleep.
A potentially nice site at quieter times but we'll stick to smaller sites with effective wardens in future.
