Just returned from another visit to Abbey Farm. Staff helpful and friendly always welcoming. Toilet block and site spotlessly clean and tidy. Reasonably priced shop on site. You can also order your daily papers. Well stocked freezer with ice pops and lollies etc for the hot weather. My 9 year old took her new fishing rod, her very 1st fishing trip she was over the moon when she caught her 1st fish. Site was busy but very quiet and peaceful at night. There is a Morrison's supermarket in Ormskirk.

Lovely, Lovely site! Set in wonderful countryside, and only minutes away from the thriving little town of Ormskirk. We used this site as a practise trip for our Cornwall/ Dorset/Sussex trip, basically to see if we could get everything in our small open top sports car instead of having to use the bigger one, which isn't as much fun!. So we went off to somewhere very local, we only live 10 miles away ! Amenities were great , shower block for the travellers pitches was excellent, clean and private cubicles with sink, shower and toilet all in one !didn't use any other blocks (who would want to !) so can't comment on them. Nice touch was the library , great if you fancied a read but forgot to pack one, but it was so cute seeing the kids, all excited, dressed in their jim-jams, going to and from the library for their bedtime story books ! Local area has everything you could want, great country walks, pubs, restaurants, Must recommend Mulberry Tree at Wrightington (gastro-pub) is a bit of a drive away and expensive , but well, well worth it , 6pm - 7pm discounted 2 course price, off either bar or restaurant menu.Ormskirk itself offers everything you need , large supermarket, outdoors shops for your supplies. Pubs, restaurants (very good ones). Weird, to travel all over the country camping, only to find a practically faultless site virtually within walking distance !

Just come back from visiting Abbey Farm. Must recommend, great facilities for kids icluding a fair sized playground /football field. My children also liked the facility of a library lending service which is also free, a warm welcome upon arrival along with friendly staff.pitches are spacious, shop reasonably priced, toilets showers in order, once again very good will be visiting again soon.

We have just returned from a weekend camping here. The site is spotless, toilet blocks are very clean too. The site has new owners who are very nice and helpful. They have a new tent camping field that we used this time. There are problems with ehu points, they seem to be placed too far away from some pitches. We had big problems using one but the owners were brilliant and lent us their extension leads so we could hook up to a etc.
The massive problem with the new field is total lack of toilets, resulting on quite a walk to the toilet blocks across on the other field. If you have a large tent then you will be put on the new field it seems. The play area is great for the kids but like the toilets, it is a 2/3 min walk to get there.
The site would benefit from new toilet blocks on the new field, perhaps the new owners will realise that it did cause a few problems for families on the field. I would visit again but not with children.

We went to this site after a week of heavy rain. The field was very wet and boggy but we wasn't to be put off. The staff are very polite and helpful. A lovely site clean and very tidy. We went with our friends who also have a caravan. Our kids (14 & 9) and there kids (5& 15) loved the field and park. The youngest 2 kids wanted to try fishing in the pond, only problem we had no rods. Just purchased a rod for when we go again. never really saw the kids as they was always on the park or playing football, cricket or rounders. After reading the review we was in for a surprise as not one of the reviews mentioned the railway, luckily the trains don't run all night. Not a problem at all. We will certainly be returning to this site again.

This was my first time towing, the owners are really helpful and friendly (they said they were new). Spaces are a good size, and the prices are good. Its very hard to get a space around bank holidays and high season, but that's a testament to how good they are. We will be going back

Just returned back home from this excellent site, will be booking again. A lot has gone into planning this site. Spotless shower/toilet facilities, a huge recreation field allowing football, volleyball, basketball along with a great kids play ground lots of space to run around which means no more footballs crashing into your tent. A small fishing pond for the angler. Shop on site, indoor play area, library, large pitching areas with electric hook ups. Only 2 minutes from ormskirk and 15 minutes from Southport. Travelled with my wife and 2 grandchildren and we all loved it

Visited this site in April. This was our first towing experience so didn't want to go too far. What a lovely site and the staff were so helpful. They helped us reverse the caravan onto the pitch (good, easy access road). Nice little shop, library and play area for the kids, washing up facilities good, showers free and flowing hot water. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would recommend!

We go caravanning in a small group several times a year, and I must say how impressed we all are with Abbey Farm... so much so, we go 3 or 4 times a year Considering its just in the backwater of Ormskirk, its a fantastic Countryside setting..... & only half an hour from our Wigan home ! Children always enjoy their stay....with plenty of space to run / play games on the well equipped play area We also enjoy visiting local pubs by the canal eg Blood Tub ( Ship Inn in Lathom ) Toilets / showers are always clean & warm.
The small shop has just been extended by new owners & seems to have a good stock of many things you may need..
Easy to get to... over Parbold Hill & just through Newburgh on Southport Road or couple of miles out of Ormskirk TC ...... which itself has regular open market and many supermarkets All in all, very pleased.... going back later in year !

( not peak time previous owners would have fitted you in) so will let you know when visit made under new circumstances.
