Excellent site, excellent facilities very clean and tidy well looked after, site owners very friendly and helpful. Children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and so did we. Nice mixture of caravans and tents in same field. Cant wait to return(tried to get in bank holiday weekend but was fully booked!).Very recommended.

This was my first time in a touring caravan, we chose this site as it was only 40 mins away. The owners were very helpful and polite, the facilities were very clean and checked. We had a great time and loved our van, we will be going back to this site several times through the rest of the year. A good site and great owners.

Could not sing the praises of this camp site enough. As only new to the camping game we were extremely happy with our choice of site and will definatly return to this site. All facilities were excellent, clean and well maintained. Staff and other campers all very helpful and friendly.

We stayed at Abbey farm with our four children in a 9 berth tent and we were very impressed.
The owners were really friendly and helpful when we arrived showing us where to pitch and where EHU etc was. The site was really clean, tidy and well maintained. The entry system is fantastic and we felt really safe and secure.
The toilets where clean and there were 8 showers that were free with lots of lovely hot water.
The recreation field with its play area was a real bonus and the kids loved it, although the play equipment was a little rusted in places and so could do with a bit of sprucing up
The pitch was really nice and flat, we didn't find ourselves rolling off the airbeds in the middle of the night like we have in some sites! The only down side is that the pitches are quite close together. The site wasn't full when we where there so was it ok but if it was full then the pitches would feel very on top of each other.
All things considered we would definitely return to Abbey Farm and would recommend it to anyone

What a stunning place, everything kept very neat and tidy as it should be, pitches all over the site seem to be placed on lush firm grass, in fact this is the first site I have ever visited were I didn't need my lump hammer on our awning pegs.
All facilities were found to be spotless, even my wife commented on how nice it was to find chemical disposal units in which she didn't need to do the splits to avoid getting splashed during the emptying process.
The playground was great for kids of all ages along with a large field available for anything from a game of football / rounders or even cricket.
Nearest pubs are The Bull and Dog public house opposite the end of Abbey lane, or a left turn brings you to the Beaufort Hotel for those in need of a little pampering,,,, These are less than 1/2 a mile away, but don't forget your torch for the return trip across the railway line.
The site shop has more than you will ever need, but if you feel the need for a 'supermarket' fix there are a few to choose from in the local market town of Ormskirk . Also train link to Liverpool/Preston/Blackpool and beyond are available only 5 minute car ride away, or a 1/2 hour walk or 10 minute bike ride, if you are up to it.
This site has to be a great base for any attraction in and around the North West of England.

I dont think I could add anything to the previous reviews. This is an excellent site. If you can live without amusement arcades, fish and chip shops and noisy bars, then this is the site for you.
The pitches are well laid out. The toilets and showers are spotless with as much hot water as you could need.
John and Roy never seem to rest and do all they can to 'settle you in' and make sure that everything is as it should be.
There are some nice touches like the free library, washing machine and iron.
All in all a well run, super, non too commercial site.

This was our second visit to this site the last time was only a stop over but this time we made it the basis for our summer holiday. What a lovely site and extremely helpful owners, right from the word go when I called to make the booking, they were going out of their way to be helpful. The site itself is lovely and clean and tidy. The toilet block was very clean even just before they were cleaned. There were ample toilets, washbasins and showers for everyone even when the site was full at weekends. The showers were excellent with ample amount of hot water. Watch out though my 3 year old found the childs shower a wee bit too warm. The dog area and fishing pond were all very good, and inexpensive for a days entertainment. The games room kept my kids amused for ages especially on wet days.
Out and about Burscough and Ormskirk are only a few minutes drive away and for those looking for a bit more adventure Southport and Blackpool are not all that for for a day out.
Downsides, well only one really we had such wet weather that the field flooded and left a bit of a lake in the middle maybe drainage could be slightly better.
On the whole I would recommend this site to anyone and thank you to the Perkins family for their helpfulness and kindness.

What a great site, toilets,& showers were spotless. First night on the site sadly we had noisy neighbours until 1-15a.M. Complained to John and wow no noise after that. Great little pub Bull & Dog 10 minute walk across the railway line nice landlord John never got his wifes name as she was busy doing the cooking. Never ate there myself but what I saw, the meals looked like large portions, and most important the John Smiths smooth was great at £2.20 a pint. The question is would I go back certainly

Just returned from an eventful weekend at Abbey Farm. Let me start by saying that the people who run this site could not be more helpful and accommodating! They were fabulous, even when we arrived with an extra child (due to family problems), they took it all in their stride. They even arranged for us to have a larger area near a picnic table and the bbq (which is there for anybody to use).
We had torrential rain on Saturday but the field was very well drained and we had no mud to deal with at all! The showers and toilets were impeccably clean at all times and hot water was always available. Due to the weather, the children (all 5 of them) made use of the games room. This is a fab facility but do take lots and lots of 50p's as everybody had run out and we had to trek into town to get some more!
We woke at about 4am on Sunday to gale force winds, but thanks to the sheltering of the trees, it was not as bad as it could have been! Unfortunately our tent poles snapped as the wind managed to grab the tent as we were taking it down (have had to buy another tent on the way home!).
There is an excellent laundry area and the washing up areas and veg prep areas were excellent too.
The library is great for adults but there are no childrens books available.
The weather may have been against us but the site was not. It was very clean and well-maintained, the facilities were excellent (the best we have come across) and the park and play area were well used by our kids on the friday whie we set up. The electronic barrier system means that the site is very safe and the dog walking field an excellent idea.
I would very highly recommend this site for a quiet weekend where the kids can be kept busy. It is also convenient for Southport and surrounding activities. We will definitely be returning soon.

Just returned from a weekend at this fantastic site, we are still quite new to touring but this site has to be the best we have stayed at. When we arrived at the site, we had to ring the intercom to gain access we were greeted by a friendly warden who showed us where to go to book in, he then showed us to our pitch and helped reverse the caravan into place. He then checked we had everything we needed before leaving. Our pitch was flat and fairly large, we had access to water nearby and the excellant toilet and shower blocks were only a few pitches away. Due to the great security on the site (access only via controlled gate) we felt confident letting our 2 kids go off exploring, they found the recreation field, where they stayed for most of our stay! It had climbing frame, swings, goal posts and a large field for ball games, they also enjoyed the games room where they played pool, table tennis and table football, these all took 50p pieces to operate so take a supply with you! There was a large dog area, and plenty of lovely walks around the site, the fishing lake is in a nice spot. There is a small shop on the site, we ordered newspapers each day, it was well stocked with basic items and pocket money toys for the kids, the toilet blocks are heated and very clean. There is a good number of shower cubicles including a childs cubicle which operates at a lower temperature than the rest (what a great idea) the site also has a small static area, on the whole it is extremly well kept. Nearby is Ormskirk with plenty of shops, the market is on saturday. There are a number of restaurants and takeaways. All in all we would recommend this site to everyone, we have already booked to go back in August!
