Abbey farm is the best.We have been for the last five years and my children don't want to go anywhere else.
Thanks to the friendly owners help we have just upgraded to a caravan and nothing has been a problem with their help and expertise.
The site is clean and very friendly.
It is a place that children can be children(how they used to be when I was growing up)they are safe and make lots of new friends and I can even chill and relax in the quiet(not normally easy with three children)
I would recommend this site to anyone.

Abbey Farm, even though a little mean on the entertainment side is a good site. For entertainment you would have to leave the site or provide your own. The pitches are well drained, as a small library, games room and children park. As well as ample dog walking space, and extremely good amenities (toilets and showers). The only negative thing is that shop is only open at short periods though out the day.
With only being 5 mins away from Ormskirk Center, and 15 mins away from southport. Very good location. Also on Sunday a Giant Car Boot Sales in Burscough.
The site was lovely and quiet, we had a peaceful and relaxing stay.

Just spent 3 wonderful nights at Abbey Farm. Large pitches in lovely surroundings. Huge playing field for the kids with football nets, basketball hoop and wooden play frames, even an old 1950's tractor, all the kids loved playing on it. The was a room for the older kids with a Pool Table, Table Tennis and Table football. Ideal for my 2 teenagers who seemed to spend hours in there. When they weren't fishing in the lake (£2.50 a day for a rod permit). Toilet facilities were excellent, bathrooms large enough to hang clothes up when showering which is definitely a plus, lol. Small shop on site was very handy, milk, papers, booze. The owners were very friendly and was nice to see them strolling through the site of an evening just checking everyone was ok. All in all would highly recommend this site, the kids can't wait to go back and that must be saying something!

Well, when I booked this site they said they only had room in the overflow field so I was a little dubious how noisy and busy this would be but booked anyway. All I can say is what a fantastic site! The 'over flow field' which I have since found out is called the Priory field was just perfect as had lots of space for children to run around in and lots of space in between tents/tourers, also didn't have loads of pitches so was really quiet. Have booked again for August as soon as we got home and have requested the Priory field. Really good that you get a pitch number and are shown to your pitch unlike some sites of pitch anywhere. Didn't use the shower on site as use our own so cannot comment. Kids play area and recreational field was brill too. Would definitely recommend this site.

Excellent well run site with good facilities. Showers plentiful and easily available even on a busy weekend. Excellent hot water for washing up on the field.
Kids loved the recreation field, playground and especially games room.
Good, friendly and kids friendly(if very quiet!) pub 10 mins walk away.
Don't trust your sat nav or a route finder to get there though - led us down a dead end! Ask for directions.

Spent an excellent weekend here, our 4th visit here in the last 2 years. The facilities are very good, the showers are well kept(and free) with plenty of hot water. The pitches are big enough and you don't feel that you are living on top of your neighbours. The children in our group all loved the park, the games room and the play areas, we all felt safe with the kids playing away from the tents. The site shop is a bit basic but there is a tesco and morrisons within a mile of the site. They do take your order for morning papers when you first arrive. If you walk through the site you can easily walk to two pubs, one of the pubs (the dog and bull, I think) had a special offer on when we went, it was 2 main meals for £9 and ended up paying under £60 for 8 adults and 4 kids.

We have just returned from our 5th visit in the last 2 years and will be visiting many more times in the years to come!
This site is so safe and child friendly you can relax and de-stress from the moment you come through the security barrier.
Nothing is too much trouble for the owners and the site is a real credit to them.
Good mix of caravans and tents, good size pitches and lots of open space for the kids to run around.
This weekend was the hottest the UK has had so far this year but we have stayed on very wet and cold weekends too, and have to say that every trip has been as enjoyable as the last one!

Thank You very much to John for all his help, as when we arrived and set up, our electric tripped off. He came over and did everything he could to help us to sort out the problem. He also called one of the caravan repairers he deals with to help to sort the problem. They got it down to the fridge element going. Roy the repair man called later the same day to check it was this. He came to repair the fridge later that week. He showed us how to put the fridge on gas. Thank You again John.
The site was lovely and clean as usual. All the staff very friendly and halpful. The grass well cut. The toilet blocks very clean and tidy with plenty of hot water. The pond area was well cut with a path to stroll around the field. The kids enjoyed the games room. We will see you again soon.

This is our 2nd visit to this campsite, and we can only describe it as excellent. Great hospitality and service from owners. Beautiful and very clean site. Large and ample pitch for our tent, with plenty electric hook-up points. We took our 3yr old granddaughter with us at Easter and she loved it, especially the adventure play park/field at the rear of the site. There are 2 toilet and shower facility blocks (in separate fields) which are excellent with plenty hot water and spotless clean (we never had to queue for toilet or showers, and the campsite was busy) There is a family bathroom on site but we did not use it. There is a little shop on site selling basics, laundrette facilities, recreation room for older children and even a library. A 10 minute walk takes you to a local pub and only 1 road to cross to get to it. Site is situated close to Ormskirk and Burscough which have a Morrisons and Tesco for shopping. Beautiful countryside, peaceful and relaxing. We will be returning again soon, hopefully.

Just returned from our first visit to this site and I have to say its one of the best I've been to.
The people who ran it could not have been more helpful, allowing me to arrive at 10 am as it was our first trip with a caravan and even helped us with reversing it.
The site itself is well laid out with play areas for the kids and a games room, good showers and loos, lovely setting, well maintained with large pitches.
The rules and regulations commented on by one review are not over the top, its about using common sense and respecting other people, and most people using the site seemed to be friendly and the kids were well behaved so I have to say that the 'rules' worked very well!
All in all , well recommended friendly site with pleasant helpful owners.
