Great little site well done. The field is great and quite flat a mixture of tents and caravans with ehu. Left side of field gets less sun. Plenty of water taps around edge of field.
The toilets and free showers where always very clean and tidy. In the ladies there was a shower for kids a little cooler than others with lower pegs. Great idea when you have an independent 10 year old.
We stayed on the site on the sunday pm for a small charge great idea as we only 30mins away from home so could make the most of the day.
You can walk into Ormskirk in 30 - 40mins along road then on old railway lines lovely walk just ask the friendly staff for directions. There are plenty of shops and a market. Great butchers with barbie packs to die for.
A great site for kids they just all played together in the middle of field or on playing field and park. A very safe feeling site which is just what parents need to relax.
Will definitely be back to this little gem our perfect Friday night getaway.

Another fantastic holiday at this brilliant site. This is the fourth time we have been over two years and every time its been good. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners if you encounter a problem and approach them and they deal with it immediately.
Would recommend a visit to this site, the Priory field is best bit of the park to stay on if you have children as loads of space for them to play. This is the only site were we have returned a few times, and will most definitely be going again in the not too distant future.
We were with friends and they have also been a few times. Just don't follow Sat Nav to get there as it takes you through a housing estate into a very narrow dead end lane!

Just spent another wonderful weekend at Abbey Farm. I love this site as there is no club house on this site. The managers John and Roy and their wifes are always polite, friendly and very helpful. The shop is fantastic as you can order your daily papers and stock a wide range of items grocery/camping equipment.
The toilet blocks are clean and tidy with plenty of hot water for the showers. The dog walk is excellent as my dog can't wait to get on to the field to run around. Great playing field with plenty of space for ball games and play areas with park equipment. There is also the games room for table tennis.
An excellent chippy in Burscough (Burscough fish Bar) do all sort of different food from fish and chips to curries. It is only about a 5 minute drive into Burcough if you go down Flax Lane. There is also a spar a couple of doors away from the chippy or just over the canal bridge is a Tesco. If you go to Ormskirk there is a Morrisons. Ormskirk market is great on a saturday morning.
There is a pond on site but this time we didn't use it. The new hardstandings are great as they have gravel for the awning to be on as well. It is not to far to travel to Southport or Wigan.
We have not used any of the local pubs so I can't comment on them. The site is very secure with the swipe card (deposit returnable) for the barrier and bollard system. Fantastic site we will be back again. Only 1 slight problem please could I have TV hook ups on the Chancery please as we struggled with the tv freezing.

Just returned from an excellent 5 night stay at this very well kept superb site.
The owners of the site were always happy the toilets always clean and the little shop well stocked and very reasonably priced.
As previous posters have mentioned there is a train line by the campsite but the train only runs four times a day and never late at night.
Just a short walk (through the gate just ask Roy) there is a very hospitable local (The Bull And Dog) serving excellent hand pulled ales and yummy food.
A five min drive takes you into Ormskirks very pleasant town centre where you will find most high street stores and a street market on Thursdays.
Also not too far from Southport makes this a very handy site for a bit of retail therapy.
We shall definitely be returning just hop its not always full.

Just returned from a great bank holiday weekend at Abbey Farm, really enjoyed the time we spent there.
It seemed ideal for young children - certainly our four year old had the time of his life, and it felt safe at all times.
On site facilities are modest but good - toilets good, showers hot and clean, washing up and laundry areas fine, the games room (although we didn't use it) was a handy addition for older kids, and the shop stocked everything you might need. The playing field and play equipment meant that the kids had a safe area away from the tents to burn off their excess energy.
The site is just a few miles outside Orkmskirk, which means easy access to supermarkets, takeaways and other shops. Despite this, it also manages to feel very remote and rural, so the location is perfect. There is also plenty to do in the surrounding area, being less than half an hour from Liverpool, Southport and plenty more.
The whole set up suited us down to the ground - we will be back.

Went with four children under ten and never really saw them, which makes a change. The facilities were very clean and the owners of the site extremely helpful, they let me arrive early on first day due to work commitments and you get the feeling that nothing would be too much trouble for them.
The site is well maintained and only a short drive to take away, off licence etc. There is a small shop which stocks a lot of essentials. The games room was ideal for the kids as was the large playing field and swings. If I had a criticism it would be that there were no toddler safety type swings at the playground only more junior ones. Also given the overall excellent condition of the park in general I feel that the playground area is probably on the owners list of improvements, which judging by the fun we as a family had can only be a short one!

This must be one of the nicest, cleanest sites I have ever stayed on, everything is spotlessly clean, well laid out level pitches with water and power on each. Plenty of grassed areas that are well maintained.
A centrally located shower/toilet block which again is spotless, there is a bathroom available but I can't comment on that as you need to get the key from reception.
A nice large playing field for the children, games room, a play area for toddlers near the reception area.
Large dog walk and fishing area on site, £2.50 for a days fishing.
I have had a walk down by the camping field and the top half is nice and level but the lower half is on a gentle slope but wouldn't put me off if I arrived with the tent.
There is a pub nearby but at the moment it is closed for refurbishment.
One slight downside is there is a railway line nearby, doesn't bother us but it might concern some people.
Well done Abbey Fields, your doing a great job, I will be back again

Visited this weekend on our first venture out towing a folding camper. Had a lovely time, staff very helpful and the site was safe secure and clean. Kids had a ball!
The toilets and showers were clean- I would have liked to have had a mop to use after my shower as the water does get floor rather wet!
Kids had a go at fishing and all caught fair size roach.
I liked the recreation field for the kids it is massive and kids enjoyed the wooden park.
We also made use of the on site bbq and the games room during the evening which was nice and warm.
The owners were very helpful.
A lovely first experience!

This site was very difficult to find and we seemed to find a different way back each time we went out. The staff we friendly and towed us onto our pitch on arrival due to the muddy grass pitches (It had been very wet)
The toilets were clean if a little dated & the games room and play area were a big hit with the boys (12 & 10) The dog walk however was a small field with a pony in it & not enough exercise for our Labrador. Walks outside the site were not possible due to the lack of pavements and narrow roads.
Reception sold a few provisions but Ormskirk was not far away for a bigger shop.
This site was a good base for a long weekend.
