Just got back from 4 days spent on this site. Access to the site is through an industrial estate, but Morrisons is at the entrance to the lorry and coach park, and is easily within walking distance - as is the town of Ross.

The site is immaculate and the pitches are very spacious. The facilities are spotlessly clean although the water for the showers was only lukewarm at various times of the day and on a push button which gave you about 6 seconds of water per push. Overall the place looks well cared for.

We went in a van with our daughter and family in a tent on the next pitch, all very nice, her hubby had bought his car as well as the truck, (he needed to go to work one day.) He was charged £12 for the 4 days, and was asked to leave it outside the office so it wasn't in the way !

The kids got their bikes out and were told immediately that 'there was no bike riding allowed, neither on the grass nor the gravel'.

The 'dog walk' area is very large on the outskirts of a nice lake - however dogs must be kept on the lead

A fellow camper chose the site for the fishing on the lake - at a charge of £7.50. However, as he was using 2 rods, he was going to be charged another £7.50!

This is the most expensive site we have been on. We have paid less than this for a quality site with a swimming pool.

All in all we felt that there were too many restrictions for the average family of kids and dogs.

Other campsites full so chose this one last because of price. Cost 10.50 a night to pitch and £4.00 per person. Two of us so £18.50 a night. Pitches are marked out, but plenty of room.

That said, the site & new spacious facilities are really good. Only one hairdryer though and couldn't see anywhere to plug mine into. Long code needed for toilet block which was a nuisance, especially if you forgot your glasses! Husbands shower was cold. They are closed quite early in the morning (11am) for whole hour for cleaning. Code also needed for barrier to exit.

Sounds like one big moan reading that back but the site is actually very nice. Only there two nights but had brilliant little holiday.

Plenty of places to eat and drink in Ross which is 5min walk away. We took our own drink to local indian restaurant Zam Zam, food lovely and very generous portions. Also had breakfast in Morrisons which was only £2.99.

Went cycling along Perigrine cycle track from Symonds Yat East to Monmouth, most of which is flat and by river(about 22 mile round trip). Both places great. Also did family cycle route from Pedalaway bike hire. Now that was challenging and wouldn't like to take smaller children on (has really long steep downhill section), great for us though.

Visited Puzzle Wood £4.80 adult. Fantastic place to take kids, we took ours when little years ago but still enjoyed it.

We stayed here for a short break at the end of July.

Despite the rain the camp site was kept pretty clean overall and the toilet and shower block were cleaned every day. The camp site is very near a Morrisons and you can walk into Ross on Wye for dinner which are definite pluses.

The downsides of this campsite is that its quite near a road so it can be noisy with traffic. The security code for the toilet block is also a complete nightmare to remember - 4 digits and two letters while we were there!

Overall, disappointed by this Site, mainly due to smallish details. This might have been due to using C & C Club's standard setting Teversal site the previous night and making comparison is difficult, but here goes:

The toilets never felt clean and tidy, even after the daily closure for cleaning. They were a bit past their sell-by date too with lots of old looking tiles.

Waste disposal point for a motorhome was difficult to access, needing highly accurate driving to position the tank outlet above a 6'' square drainhole.

Always, maybe unfairly, had the feeling they were looking to add charges but we were charged for a motor bike for another of our party but which didn't take up any extra space

Good location for a pretty town though, even if access is scruffy - not their fault you have to drive past lots of seemingly abandoned buses

As previously mentioned an unconventional approach to this delightful site, very handy for the town, shops & pubs.

Once onto the site it is a little oasis, you could easily forget you are in a built up location with its fishing lakes, dog walks and children’s play area. The grounds are well kept with flower beds and baskets.

The staff are very friendly and show you individually to your pitch giving you plenty of advice.

The pitches are well defined but not very large, if you have an awning you may have difficulty parking your vehicle on some pitches.

The shower blocks are modern and clean, we were there when the site was nearly full and we never had to queue.

Visited this site at the end of july.

Site was very clean, pitches were flat although very close together. Toilets blocks are very clean. The drive into the site is a little odd to say the least, but don't let this put you off. This is probably the best positioned site I've stopped on with morrisons at the end of the drive and town within 5 min walk. Ross on wye is a very nice little town with plenty of pubs ( hard to find one open on a sunday night thou ). Symonds yat a small drive away is an excellent place to visit.

Would definitely stay at site again A111111

Enjoyed a weekend camping with our two children on this site. The pitch was spacious, flat, tidy and had good hook up with water and soakaway (full drain opposite).

We found the welcome very friendly and it was nice to be directed to the pitch and given all the information we needed. Yes, there are rules, but we didn't find it over-officious and all aspects of the site seem well organised.

The site itself is well located (for which I guess it pays in terms of the slightly weird approach through an industrial estate) and it was nice to be able to walk into Ross town centre. It's also handy having a supermarket within walking distance (but well out of view) and there are lots of things to see and do in the area.

The shower block was clean and tidy with all you need and the children's play area was adequate, with some decent space for ball games with the little ones.

Its quite a functional site, hence I agree with the comparison with a French Municipal site - but I'd class that as a compliment.

Overall an excellent introduction to family camping and I'd not hesitate to recommend the site.

Agree with much of what's been said already. Great site - clean, flat, grassy and spacious. Staff really friendly. Shop not much but understandable with Morrisons just outside entrance. Access through an industrial estate but is easy - Caravanner's use the A40 don't be tempted to short cut through town.
Our first trip with a dog, hope other sites are as dog friendly. Easy walk in to Ross - not the most inspiring of places but does have all you might need and is good base for the Forest of Dean. The Seven Seas chippy in town was excellent. Even though we only live an hour away we almost certainly will revisit.

I'm glad I'd read about the coach park entrance but at least they've made an effort with a few roses grown along the fence!

We only stayed one night but took advantage of paying £5 to leave the caravan until 6pm the next day so we could go for a walk along the Wye. Everything has already been said about this immaculate lovely site. Don't be put off by the list of rules; they're all perfectly reasonable. The place reminds us of a French municipal site being so close to a town and so well organised. We'll be back.

A few more shrubs around the pitches would act as a windbreak and give a bit more privacy.

This is a site we would certainly return to.

The site was immaculately kept, the staff friendly and helpful and not over bearing, showers and toilet blocks were large and immaculate in my top two of all the campsites I have visited.

Exceptionally handy for the supermarket Morrisons and the town, but feels like the country, no noise.

Did a spot of fishing just for a couple of hours in the evening one day after returning to the camp site, there are big fish in there 3 carp to 15lb so I was happy.

Camping costs were a little higher than some sites I've visited but were reasonable for the site facilities, location etc.

Fishing was £7.50 per day per rod, most campers probably like me just wanted to do an hour with the children before bedtime, so maybe an evening ticket at a lesser price would have seemed fairer and probably more profitable for the campsite.

Major plus is close to town location so you can walk into Ross On Wye for food if you don't want to cook.

The Eagle Inn had basic meals nothing flash but was excellent value, the staff friendly and the pub spotless, (adult meals £5.95 children £2.50)

The Man Of Ross food excellent home cooked average £7.95 adult.

Went out of Ross to Inn On The Wye, surroundings excellent but food more expensive and disappointing .
