I stayed here with my wife and dogs for one night in June. The approach via the 'recycle Centre, HGV Garage and Breakers Yard was awful, however once inside the site was well kept and clean. The price per pitch (£30) was waaayy too high but we were tired and did not want to drive any more therefore we paid. The first thing we were presented with was a huge list of site rules this did not bode well for a relaxing stay. We had to put a code into a key pad every time we wanted to use the facilities this was a pain but the toilets and showers were clean and well kept. Dogs could not be walked off the lead even in the enclosed walking area needless to say we will not return.

This is my second and updated review of this site as my thoughts and opinion of the site have changed since my previous review.

The site is in an excellent location despite the initial approach. It is clean and well kept.

However, we did notice a few negatives this year.

As mentioned previously pitches are quite small, we had previously travelled with a tent so hadn't noticed so much.

One of the toilet blocks was closed, this meant quite a hike to the other one. The odd thing about this was that the tents were being put on pitches near the closed block?

Not sure there's any need for the 9am Sunday morning ride around with notepad to make sure you are packing? Think we've paid our last visit to the site sadly.

We spent 4 nights here with some good friends, great location for exploring surrounding area, especially geocaching, supermarket with fuel station close by, facilities were good, clean showers and wash room, pitches were a bit tight for space if a an awning was used, having to park car alongside.

Tariff structure could be better by having a fixed price for caravan, car & two persons awning etc, at £30 a night the fishing had to be paid for at extra cost and more positions for fishing could be created.

Would try another site when returning to area.

This is a very conveniently situated and pleasant site - don't be put off by the approach which is through a drab area of dis-used lock-ups and abandoned buses.

The site and its facilities are clean and well organized - perhaps a little too well organized as other contributors have observed.

The price for a night's stay seemed excessive: £23. 50; again others have made the same observation.

We were taken aback when we were informed that we would be charged an additional £3. 50 if we were to put up our (modest Fiamma) awning! Perhaps the Management should re-consider this rather mean and petty rule; it was enough to make us feel less than welcome.

The site is set in a commercial area of the town which seems rather disconcerting, until you enter the site itself, which is well maintained, with excellent, clean facilities. You can even have a bath! The fishing lake is a very pretty area for a family walk and enjoy a sunny day. Morrisons supermarket is a 10 minute walk away which is handy for a last minute fried breakfast.

The pitches are adequate in size and the warden oversees that you are not encroaching on any other pitches.

The site is well managed but they are very strict on noise after 10 pm which is something to be aware of if you are staying with friends or family. There is a childs play area and the site is happy for well supervised children to use these areas to play ball. Although this is not allowed in the other areas of the site. We stay to canoe in the area and the site is well placed for exploring the surrounding area.

In general a nice well kept site close by to Ross on Wye and its amenities.

The site was tidy and neat with good facilities and the staff were helpful.

However at £23 per night in low season we thought this was quite pricey. Ok it is a '5 *' site but this came with its own negatives - such as the biggest list of 'don't's' I have ever come across and everywhere there was do and don't signage. I think I counted about 8 in the shower blocks alone!

A nice site for being close to Ross but a bit too OTT for our more simple tastes.

Reception: Warm reception from everyone, which always bodes well for a good weekend. This was our second visit to Broadmeadow.

Pitch: Hard standing, medium sized pitch (N0 90) with water and view over the lake.

Facilities: Two shower blocks, although the showers are push button, you get 30 seconds. Water is plentiful and very warm. Toilets are clean. Morrisons is 5 minute walk away.

Dog walk: There is a small walk around the lake.

Pubs: There are several pubs and restaurants in Ross on Wye. I recommend the Man of Ross which sells real ale and cider. It also has a wonderful view over the valley

Ross on Wye is a delightful town with lots of shops, pubs and restaurants. Easy access to other towns such as Hereford and Gloucester.

Local Transport: Bus stop is about 7 minutes walk in the town centre. £5 gets you a day tripper to Hereford, Coleford, Gloucester and other towns.

In summary, a really nice site with excellent facilities, no wonder it is so popular. The local town has everything you need

On the plus side this is a very well maintained site in a good location for Ross-on-Wye, the pitches are well maintained and it is in very nice grounds with plenty of space for dog walking etc. The website states that this is a 'five star' campsite but in the opinion of my partner and myself it's more likely to be a good three star.

On the minus side, firstly you have to drive through what appears to be a bus depot come scrap yard to get into the site and if you want to walk into Ross you have to walk out the same way which isn't very appealing! there is a lot of traffic noise from the A40 which runs directly alongside the site, the toilet blocks were clean and tidy but not as clean as you'd expect for a five star site especially on the first night of the season, the shower cubicles could do with a good dose of bleach and there are no toilet brushes available so you walked into the last persons mess.

I would have expected a fully serviced pitch as the site is very expensive and if the extras on the BIG list of charges is added on it's very expensive! you even have to pay for a day visitor.

All in all it's a good site due to it's proximity to Ross but very expensive and not really child friendly.

We telephoned the site on day of departure and they managed to squeeze us in

Excellent site was personally taken to pitch and told where everything was

Toilet block excellent lots of showers rooms with sink also a room with bath, sink and toilet ideal for young children

Hook up included in pitch price

Very friendly staff

Lovely fishing lakes which we will take advantage of on our next visit

Morrisons about a two minute walk

Town about 5 minutes with a large selection of places to eat and drink

We were warmly welcomed by the reception staff. This site is handy for walking into Ross on Wye and exploring the town. We were a bit put off by the coach graveyard just before the entrance of the site, however the site itself was clean and well kept.

There was a very short time allowance on the push button showers, but there was plenty of hot water. There was no segregation of the many tents - they were put amongst the caravans and motorhomes.

There were good recycling facilities but the marking of the various types of recycling bins could have been improved. At £20 a night for two people we thought this site was expensive for what was provided.
