We recently stayed at this site and had an absolutely fantastic time and would definitely visit again. This was our first ever camping experience. We were extremely dubious about the site having read that you first have to drive through an industrial estate to get there but at short notice it was the only site we could get. Yes you do have to go through an industrial estate , but it is well screened. On arrival on friday evening, things were a bit chaotic and there was a delay booking in but everyone was very friendly and we were shown to our pitch which was right by the play area much to the delight of our four year old. The pitch was a good size and extremely clean. We had our own water and electricity supply and there were lights between the pitches which were left on at night (great for those late night loo visits when you've forgotten the torch!). The toilets, showers and bath were spotless. The only timers we came across were on the showers and late at night the lights in the toilet block were dimmed but came on again as you entered. Some people have complained about the keypad entry system, but we thought this was a great idea especially as we live close to the supermarket in Leamington Spa were the 13 year old was recently raped in toilets. On check-in you are given the codes on a slip of paper. The site is expensive and was virtually empty when we left, perhaps the owners do need to review their charges but we feel it's worth paying a little more for a clean, tidy, well maintained site close to a supermarket and local amenaties

What a lovely campsite! We have been to this site four times now and think its lovely. The owners have always been very friendly, and helpful. Beautiful site with a nice fishing pool, there are dog kennels over the back of the site but to be honest you hardly ever hear them. The entrance to the site was a bit off putting when we first came here but once inside the site is lovely, you also have the added bonus of Morrison's being right on your doorstep! Which comes in very handy! Fantastic showers and toilet block, I actually broke my arm here (was a little tipsy) and found that having a private bathroom with bath in it was very helpful to me! Would definitely recommend this site !

We have visited this site many times and have enjoyed our stay as we always do, wherever we go but I was a bit taken back when we got there to find there was so many different charges for everything. In all, the few days we were there was very expensive. Yes the site is always clean and tidy, the toilet coding is a pain and the ducks are charming that come off the lake nearby, but other sites are equally as good as this, but without the hefty charges levied. If families are considering going there they should be aware that it could cost them quite a lot to stay. The good point however, to this site, is that there is a supermarket close by which is a plus. I would agree with other users comments that there has to be rules, but it should also be a relaxing holiday.

Having read previous reviews, we were a bit dubious about visiting this site, but it was the only one we could get at short notice. Well, we were very pleasantly surprised. Check-in was smooth and problem free and the gentleman on reception was happy to alter our allocated pitches to allow us to be near the play area (as per someone's previous review - see, it does pay to read these pages first!)
We spent two nights here and yes, the staff do regularly scoot round in golf buggies to check all is well but they really weren't intrusive. The end of the site near the gate/play area was full of families on our visit and I didn't see anyone being chastised or having the rule book waved at them.
The toilet block is wonderful - clean and spacious and never busy - there's even a bathroom with a full size bath, great if you've got little ones who don't like showers. (The code pad is a bit of a pain though).
The surrounding area, Ross-on-Wye and Symonds Yat is beautiful and though the entrance to the site is a little dodgy it has the advantage of being close to Morrisons and within walking distance of a great chippy.
We loved this site, and so did our children so I hope that this review encourages people who maybe were put off by previous reviews to give it a go. It is a little pricey but worth it for the peace of mind of knowing that yes, there are rules, but generally they are there to make your holiday peaceful and relaxing.
A word of warning though, when we arrived the people in front of us had arrived in a commercial van and were politely being pointed in the direction of a different camp site so read the site rules on the web site before you book. All in all a lovely camp site with great facilities.

Contrary to the other posts for this site, we found it to be very clean and very tidy. The rules are just common sense and decency and if you live your life with the comfort of others in mind, you won't even notice that there are any rules.
The toilets are spotless as are all of the facilities and there is a curtain between the shower and where you get dried (a very simple concept that other campsites would be wise to follow). If you are travelling with small children you will be glad to know that there is also a bath in all of the toilet blocks.
There are only 2 things that I found wrong with this site: you have to drive though an industrial estate to get to it, and they have a code entry system to the toilet block - this was not easy to remember and very fiddly to enter.
All things considered, I would stay here again.

I would agree and disagree with some of the comments made. Good points : Good size pitches clearly laid out Excellent hygiene all around the site Beautiful location next to river - lots of greenery Easy walking distance to town centre & Superm'kt Not so good points : Some areas have road noise from the A40 Toilet block door code is indeed a pain ! Although more expensive than some other sites, I believe that you get what you pay for, and this site is good value for money.

Great site clean, and no noisy kids ( The children that were there were well behaved!) Toilets were very clean. Site is very convenient to shops and to Ross. Staff very pleasant. Entrance to site is via an Industrial estate – that is the only downside to this site.

Having read previous reviews, I was really worried about what to expect. The Camp site is spotlessly clean, with good toilets, laundry and washing up areas. The toilets have a number coded lock which was a pain at times. There are no other facilities on site other than a basic play area for kids. The entrance is quite off putting but once inside it is a really lovely place. The traffic from the main road and the dogs at a nearby kennel can hardly be heard (we were in a tent).
My only gripe was the cost. I have never known a camp site charge for so many different things. Pitch £9 per night, electrics £3 per night, a per person charge of £3 per night for adults and a charge for children too. A £3 charge per night for an awning or day tent and a £3 per person per night charge for any visitors plus if visitors bring their car on site it's another £3 - absolutely absurd pricing policy and that is the only reason we wouldn't go again.
Location, despite being in a town was first class. Easy walking distance to a supermarket and good quality pubs nearby but nearly £20 a night for a tent pitch for 2 people with electrics and one dog is just not on. Sorry, I tried to open minded!

Arrived the second week of the school Easter holidays and we were practically the only people on the site, not very good for the kids to make friends but at £30 a night(pitch, awning, electric, 2 adults and 4 kids) who can blame people for staying away at such costs. Met by a friendly site manager who was very helpful, could not fault him. Toilet/shower block lights were on a timer so if you showered too long or had to fill the bath, the lights went out before you were finished, also there was no heating in the toilet/shower block and considering the temperature was freezing a couple of nights, this made for uncomfortable trips to the loo or shower, seemed to be penny pinching to me. The prices didnt appear to be aimed at families(no family deals), kids seem to be more of a hinderence to them with no ball games outside the play area, no bikes for kids, yet its ok for adults. The play area had no swings and seemed very basic. Any visitors to us on the site had to watch their backs as the site has been well known to charge £3 for a visitor and £3 for a car, however, this did not happen and we had many visitors. Other than that, the site is well maintained and clean with morrisons being a couple of minutes walk and the the rest of the town in easy access. I give it a thumbs up to the location and cleanliness and a thumbs down to the prices, its unfriendliness to families and to inadequate heating(if any) and lighting in the toilet block.

Many thanks for such an excellent site. I can only give praise for the wonderful welcome that has been given to my husband and myself over and over for the last four years since finding this site. I must agree that the entrance to the site is off putting but applaud the owners and the wardens for their hospitality and helpfulness once inside. Perhaps there should be a 'Whingers Only'caravan site where the intolerant can amuse each other. The rules and regulations are what makes this site such a prestigious place. The cleanliness is second to none. Litter you will never see,you wont get involved in a collision with a bicycle and as for peaceful fishing, even Matt Hayes would be satisfied. So all intolerant amuse each other elsewhere.
