It is difficult to add to any of the other reviews on here as I am biased and love Betws and its surrounding areas.
The location is superb if you are a walker, which we are. Capel Curig is down the road as is Swallow Falls and it really is a walkers paradise.
The village has quite a few shops so should you forget to take something you can always nip over the bridge and buy it.
The pitches are excellent and the staff very helpful. Love it.

Level site and well spaced out. Close to Town and Railway Station with links to Llandudno every 3 hrs. Train noise isn't really a problem.
Facilities. Excellent reception and toilet block was the best I have used. Scrupulously clean, warm and well appointed. Lack of children's area on site and plenty of no ball games signs, indicates its largely an adult site. Next door to a golf course. The WIFI company has gone bust as wasn't working. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Recommend Royal Oak Hotel and Golf Club for eating out.
Conway Rail Museum adjacent to station building and associated tourist shops onto front of station. Good Deli there! Use the railway footbridge and platform for easy access to town.

Upon entering Betsw Coed the site is well sign posted. The narrow road leading onto the park were very narrow good job we decided to go mid day or else I don't think we would have got our van up the road. We checked in and were given a barrier key.
The park operates a one way system. We had a pitch near to the washrooms so it was easier to shower in their rather than use the van facilities.
The site has a small shop for basic needs however a walk into town is only short via a railway bridge.
In Betsw Coed there are a few pubs which serve meals a chinese and a couple of cafes. It was really picturesque.
We loved this site and will definitely be back.

I must say this is the best site we have visited to date, the wardens greet you with a big smile felt more like they were old friends than wardens.
All hard standing pitches which we loved with grass in-between you could have played bowls on the grass it was that well kept.
Only one toilet block on site but would rate them as 12 out of 10 the same as all the other facilities on site.
Views were great only down side is your next the the railway and first train runs at 6:30am but you soon get used to it.
Very short walk into the village which is a fantastic place big rec for the kids to play on, and beside the royal oak hotel is a great bar which does fantastic food.
The slate mine is a must as well as portmerian.
Can't wait to go back

First visit to this site and cannot wait to get back. All that was expected was exceeded in every way.
We have 2 Wiermaraners and they enjoyed the lovely walks around the golf course and by the salmon river,
Very peaceful and the views of the forests from the site were fantastic,
There was plenty to do in the area, Snowdonia has got a lot to offer. A lot of sights near hand and the village had plenty to offer with various eating opportunities and is very pet friendly, would advise a visit.
The toilet and shower facilities were spotlessly clean and are inspected on a regular basis

Very well maintained campsite, with mostly hardstanding pitches with a smallish tent field at the bottom. Grass kept lovely and short, the site was well lit after dark. The staff I spoke to were polite and friendly. The toilet block, which also had a wash up area, laundry disabled and baby facilities were utterly immaculate at all times, even during a spell of heavy rain, and I spotted staff cleaning at 11pm, as well as during the midday closure of facilities for cleaning.
Very short walk into Betwys, by going to the station, crossing over the rail bridge and through the arch and hey presto you are there! Lots of craft shops and outdoor clothing shops, with various pubs and hotels to eat at. If you have a dog, have a short drive to Swallow Falls Hotel, as your dog will be made welcome inside and out.
Only gripe is that the toilet block is accessible by key only, which is a bit inconvenient, if your OH is having a shower and you need the loo, and it will be a bit of a walk from some pitches.
Certain pitches may also be disturbed by the trains that go past, albeit infrequently but they do start early. I would definitely return to this site.

Just returned from a fab break at this site. The pitches are spacious and all hardstanding. Some are quite close to the railway line which can be exciting if you like trains!
As mentioned in previous reviews there is no playground for the kids but it was not really a problem for our children. They made friends and went off round the site on their bikes and built dens in the bushes. It was great to see them being creative finding ways to amuse themselves.
The site was spotless and the shower block/toilet facilities was one of the best I have seen.
I found the staff helpful and informative with good local knowledge.
If you like a quiet site with lovely views then this is the place for you. The walks nearby are excellent and Betws Y Coed a pleasant town for a stroll around. I must recommend Ty Gywn inn/restaurant over the bridge out of town. The food was very very good in cosy surroundings, shame we only discovered it on the last night!

We have just returned from ten days at Riverside - we went because we'd been to one of the sister sites at Oxon Park near Shrewsbury, which we found to be very, very well maintained.
The site is right in the middle of Betws-Y-Coed, quite literally just off the A5 - very easy to get to, though the final approach road is littered with parked cars and if one met another unit coming out of the park, it could prove a little tricky!
The site is nestled between the oldest building in Betws-Y-Coed (a small church and graveyard) and Betws-Y-Coed train station - at the side of which, operates a small steam train, with a cafe made out of old carriages. A must for steam fans! The site is in a valley with fir trees covering either side over the summit - evidence of man's involvement in reshaping the landscape in early times.
The site reception is immaculate - looking like it opened yesterday, with a well stocked shop for caravanners (toilet rolls, wastemaster parts, hooks, eyes, steps, bbq's etc). They also sell basic provisions. The greeting we received was friendly but I would like to see the staff wearing name-badges. Riverside, Oxon Park and the other site at Bridgnorth all offer a loyalty bonus - once you've spent 12 nights with them, you gain an extra night free! The offer applies to all three sites so you can mix and match as you like.
One way system round the park, with static vans (all painted green) at the entrance and the tourers further down (in the nice bit!). Pitches are huge, all shale, yet accept rock pegs easily (unlike some sites I've been on where a jackhammer and industrial pile-drivers are needed to get pegs into the hard-standing). All level, no sign of waterlogging anywhere.
A nice feature for ALL pitches is the provision of Freeview with an aerial socket on the electricity hook-up post. Some pitches are all service - and these are best placed if you want to sit in the sunshine in the early evening. The 'normal' pitches get the sun in the morning. Take your pick.
The amenities are superb. I have never seen such clean, well maintained showers/toilets/washbasins in all the sites I've been on. They look like they were installed yesterday. They are as good, if not better than your facilities at home! Really! The showers are not those silly push-button types either - lots of hot (soft) water that lathers up beautifully. If you have small children, ask for the key to the Children's Bathroom at Reception (keep it for the duration). In there is a small bath, shower, sink and a kiddie-sized toilet! NOT for the grown-ups!
The site is very child-friendly - our two young girls whizzed around on their bikes for hours, though there is no play park (thank goodness). There was no 'kiddie noise' either (you know - the type generated by playparks!).
The bin areas are emptied regularly. The site was full for the whole ten days we were there and I never once had the experience of a full dustbin when I went to tip my rubbish.
Water pressure is fantastic - meaning that one's Aquaroll fills up in seconds rather than hours and hosing down the inside of the Wastemaster actually works! The chemical disposal is all outdoor but one of the cleanest and most effective I've used.
Criticisms? Hmmm. Well, don't be late for the showers - they close from 11 to 12. 30pm. If you arrive (as I did) at 10. 58) they won't let you in.
Other than that - I can't fault the place. It's not over-bright at night either so a torch wouldn't go amiss. Oh. And there's the train. Also, make sure you're stocked up because the nearest decent supermarket is in Llanwrst - about 4/5 miles away (a lovely drive though!). It's not easy to find either - hidden away behind the chip shop. Enter Llanwrst from Betws-Y-Coed and turn sharp right at the Curry House on the corner. 200 yards later, turn left and left again into the Co-Op car park.
I woke one morning thinking that a hurricane had built up overnight and I was going to find my awning on top of Snowdon. But it was, in fact, the 6. 30am to Llandudno. Very noisy for the ten seconds that it goes by (Betws-Y-Coed station is just outside the park). We didn't mind - though I'm sure some would - particularly if they're after total peace and quiet.
Betws-Y-Coed is lovely. If you've been to places like Keswick, then you'll know what you're in for in that every other shop sells outdoor gear. Check out the 'Cotswold Rockbottom' shop where they sell off surplus stock at much reduced prices. Take your cheque book!
Snowdon is about 20-30 minutes away, as is most of the 'attractions' round this area, of which there are many - Porthmadog, Black Rock Sands, Snowdon, Llandudno, Conwy Castle, Conwy RSPB reserve and a little further afield, Anglesey. We went to South Stack at the northern tip, to the west of Holyhead and saw Porpoises and Dolphins in the water. Amazing.
Would we go back? Yes. Definitely. It's not the most expensive site we've been on and with the loyalty bonus, we even got a free night! Book with confidence!

A lovely site, very well kept and well run.
Large flat pitches, all hard standing - rock pegs are essential for an awning. 16 amp electric hook up and a TV aerial socket at each pitch - we don't have a TV so can't comment on reception. There are also some fully serviced pitches. There is a good mobile signal and also WiFi, which you pay for. There is a shop at reception with food essentials and caravan accessories.
The facilities are immaculate, beautifully clean, modern toilets and showers, wash-basin cubicles and hairdryers. The showers are free and the cubicles are big enough to keep your clothes dry. There is a pot-washing room with 3 sinks and a laundry room, all immaculate.
The site is next to the railway line and the trains are mostly every hour and start at 6am!
The lovely dog walk is a public footpath which goes along the river and skirts the golf course. Access is through a gate near the entrance to the site and also at the far end, at the back of the tent area. The path also leads into Betws.
If I had any gripes it would be that the facilities block is quite a way away from many of the the pitches and even further from the tent pitches and that a few more taps would be useful.
Betwy is 5 minutes away with shops, pubs and cafés, a Spa and a mini mart/PO. We didn't find any pubs or cafés which allowed dogs in but had a nice meal outside at The Stables, which has a good under-cover area. Another café near the station has a good outside area with huge umbrellas.
There is good public transport with the afore-mentioned trains and the Sherpa buses - detail from the Tourist Information Office in Betwys.
All in all, a great site and we look forward to returning soon.
