Yes the site is nice as everyone says. But be warned you need a very long aerial cable and the price is a rip off in the shop. I was next door to the tent area and if I had stopped there in my tent there would not have been a lot of room (bearlake 4}. It is a small piece of grass, and everyone with a dog has to walk through it and yes accidents happen

On arriving in the site we were given our pitch number and a helpful map. The spaces are huge compared to a lot of other local sites we drove past. The wardens couldn't be more helpful with advice. We booked on the super pitches which give you water, waste and TV socket. The site itself was spotless and the toilet/shower block is kept spotless. The no noise after 11pm rule is adhered to and enforced by the warden. Betws-y-Coed is a 3 minute walk across the railway and through the tourist shops. Pubs seem friendly and prices seem about 10% more than normal but this is a tourist area. There is a chinese restaurant going out of Betws which was excellent. Only one slight negative is the lack of child facilities but you can use a huge field 5 mins away. Anyway its a 5 star site and it deserves it we will be back.

Just come back from riverside and was very impressed, facilities were spotlessly clean, grass kept mown short, no noise at night adhered too. It would have been nice to have small games room with pool or table tennis or a reading exchange, shame they didn't include this when they renovated It appears they are pushing the tents out, no hook up for tents and we would never have got our breckenridge on one pitch. Would love to go back but they were booked for all dates we enquired for! Nice to be so close to village and stables bar is nice to sit outside with dog and ideal for younger families wanting to eat out. Site is two mins walk from village just across railway bridge Betws is always busy during day but quiet at night, would recommend this site to anyone without hesitation.

Stayed at this site for a 3 day break.
Lovely site right in the centre of Betws-y-coed.
Camp-site wardens friendly and really nice hardstanding pitches with plenty of room.
Facilities are excellent with immaculate showers toilets and washing up facilities.
Betws-y-coed is a lovely village with nice shops and restaurants with an excellent pub called the Stables that does food. There is also a good chip shop.
The weather was a bit hit and miss but didn't spoil our break but this is Wales after all.
Only criticism of this site is that it is so good it gets booked up very quickly so you have to book well in advance especially at busy times.

Just spent a weekend here and would agree with others comments.
The site is very clean and has good sized pitches. The toilet block is spacious and is also very clean. The showers are hot and powerful and not the pushbutton type so were very enjoyable.
There is a railway track that runs at the back of the site and although you can hear the trains when they come through, it does not disturb the peace and tranquillity of the site, the same goes with the church clock that chimes every hour.
There is a lovely walk around the site by the riverside which runs at the edge of the golf club. It is well worth the stroll.
The village itself is quite small and attracts a lot of visitors but it is well worth visiting, there are a lot of outdoor shops but also some pretty gift type shops. The village is only a few minutes walk over the railway bridge.
We called in at the Stables bar and grill in the village which served good food and good beer. It was a popular place with locals and visitors and has sky TV in case you don't want to miss out on your favourite sports.
The wardens on the site were friendly and helpful and we would definitely recommend a visit here if you like the peace and quiet of the welsh countryside, with enough on your doorstep to not be isolated.
We will definitely be returning again and have earmarked this as one of our favourite sites.

It was unusually cold and wet this October but the location and facilities of this site made up for it.
As has already been said, the site has had a major revamp and is superb. The toilet facilities are clean and warm but quite a walk if you are on the tent area or are pitched at the far end of the site.
There are plenty of super-pitches but ironically they are closest to the toilet facilities.
The camp shop is fairly well stocked for emergency supplies of food and equipment and the managers are very polite and helpful.
The village is a 2 min walk (4min if pitched at the end of the site) through the station and over the bridge. Plenty of shops, easy to get to other places too either by car, train or bus.
I can't really say anything else that has not already been said other than the site is now open all year except for six weeks from the middle of January.
An excellent site and one we would definitely visit again.
Some of the local footpaths through the forests have not been maintained for a while and sometimes they disappear if the forestry commission cut down trees on route, care should be taken when crossing these areas.

The site location couldn't be better being only 5 minutes walk into the centre of the village, for those who have dogs, there is a path leading around the site along the river and round the golf course. The facilities are maintained to a high standard although in busy times they may become stretched as there are only 3 showers and w/c's in the male unit. We used a serviced pitch and found the plug in for water too far away from the entry point on the van which is located on the opposite side and therefore had to buy a water supply extension pipe as well as waste pipe extension, some pitches didn't appear to have the same problem though. Reversing into pitches can be tight especially if the unit in front is tight to the road. Generally we enjoyed our stay and will be returning but only at quite times.

Stayed for two nights over the weekend and really had a most enjoyable time.
Site is extremely well ordered and immaculate. Pitches are very well spaced, lovely views all around, but it is a beautiful area.
Site was very peaceful but full!
2 mins walking from the town with a good choice of smaller shops and decent pubs, bistro's, although didn't eat out menus looked good with variety of choice, particularly locally sourced produce and a variety of welsh cuisine.
Very pleasant walks all around the site, don't have to be a 'professional' walker. Must not miss a trip to the Swallow Falls, we walked along the river and it was breath taking as the river was quite high and the water fall was spectacular.
I didn't use site facilities but my husband did and he said they were very clean.
Will definitely visit the site again soon.

Just returned from a two night stay, Thurs/Fri.
Rained persistently but I have always said that the landscape looks more dramatic and the waterfalls much more spectacular in the rain or maybe I am just trying to sound brave! Campsite was best we have stayed in, but bearing in mind the whole place has just undergone a multi million pounds re-vamp, so everything is literally brand new. New turf still evident. Pitches are designated by numbers on small white posts and are fairly spacious but we were a little unsure of the boundaries. Some people were pitching in between the posts others were in front of. But that could well be ignorance on our behalf as we have not stayed on a site before where this system is in place. It probably doesn't matter so long as you are as near as poss to your allocated pitch number. There are 18 EHU grass pitches and a further tent area to the rear of the site. A static van area is near to the entrance. Ground is level and drains well (we should know!)
Wash facilities are fantastic and operate on a key system.(You are also given a barrier card, £10.00 returnable deposit.) Facilities all in one building with separate entrances to ladies/gents. There is a wash/prep room and laundry room. Shower cubicles are of a good size with added individual changing area. Shower separated by curtain which is a bit of a nuisance because the whole floor gets wet and you have to be able to balance well on each leg when re-dressing. Not really a problem - just thought I would mention it. Sinks are also in individual cubicles which is a great added bonus and lots of loos. Hairdryers too. All centrally heated. Closed for cleaning between 11.00am and 12.30pm.
There is no children's playground but that has never bothered us. There is a site rule of no balls or frisbees but we can appreciate that.
Site is well positioned being right in Betws y Coed. Literally a two minute walk through the station. Betws is a beautiful town - very picturesque. Lots of restaurants and drinking holes adding to a good atmosphere. There is just one little 'moan' however. There is a NO NOISE POLICY after 11pm yet on our second night a group of males occupying two tents pitched next to us and thought it was OK to talk and laugh very loudly until 3am. I don't particularly blame them. But I do feel that if a site stipulate this policy then why allow groups of single sex on the site. Surely its obvious that such groups /parties are NOT going to quiet after 11pm, if anything their night is only just beginning!
Anyway, all in all this site is superb and would highly recommend it. Despite the noisy lads we will definitely be returning.

This site has been re-vamped and has only just re-opened in the middle of July . So I suppose that I am one of the first to visit it. Once you drive down the narrowish lane to the camp site and pass the statics that are part of the old site you are greeted with a brand new reception / shop and a gigantic barrier that raises and lowers just like in the Thames estuary! If you are a member of the caravan club or camping and caravanning club you will get a discount . Once you have paid you are given a site plan, barrier pass and a key to the toilets / showers . The site has since been levelled by the new owners and has a mixture of grassed pitches , hardstanding and super pitches, every one very spacious enough to take the unit ,awning and car( approx 59 pitches in total ). There is also a `grassy mound` that is separating the back to back pitches im assuming for more privacy. There can be a difficulty reversing your caravan onto some of the pitches especially if someone is parked opposite to you and it can be very difficult to unhitch and push your unit into place especially if it is gravelled. The road around the side is tarmaced and it has speed bumps which are not too high. There is also an area for motorhome waste / freshwater facility. A grassed area at the bottom of the site is for tents however I have noticed tents all over the site. The toilet block is new. Both men and women use the same front door and then go their separate ways. The new block accommodates a spacious disabled shower/ toilet plus 3 toilets in total. (This is woefully inadequate for the size of the site as at the time of our visit one toilet had blocked and overflowed into the other toilet area. This was immediatly fixed once I reported it.) laundry room and vegetable prep room . The showers have taps and not the push button ``5 second `type ( I don’t mind the push button types if they made them at least 20 seconds ) and a seat . There is no shelf to put your soap / shampoo on. There are also cubicles for private washing. There is a railway line running at the back of the site however trains only seem to run know and then. There is some kind of water treatment site also at the back of the site which omits a constant low noise. The caravan and camping pitches have `subtle ` lighting at night and the site is `locked off ` at 10pm , if you get back after 10pm ( we got back at 2 minutes to ten and the barrier was already down ) then you will have to leave your vehicle at the first barrier which can be at least 300 – 600 metres away from your unit . The warden says that is to protect the statics ! From what I have no idea as the first barrier is a flimsy pole! The `Thames barrier` has no security card slot on the camp site side therefore it could be possible for someone to roll up with your caravan and drive off! When we visited there were a lot of children however there is no play area. There is is a gate at the rear of the site which gives you access to the river and a gentle walk into `betsy`. The site is a huge improvement on the original one with a lot of money spent on it . There is always teething problems with new projects and I’m sure the owners will look into these. I will certainly be going back for many a year as this is a perfect area to explore north Wales.
