Visited this site for a week, and have to say this was the best ever site I have been on in the whole of my camping / motorhoming life. The wardens were excellent, the facilities excellent and the site which is in the centre of the village was adjacent to the railway, and just outside the railway station was the bus service.

Access to the river is direct from the site, and also the golf course borders the site. Well spaced pitches and flat, although I did see one or two units using chucks. I did not find this necessary in my motorhome.

If you are considering staying in the area, this is a definite place to stay, although booking would be advisable well in advance. They also have a small area for tents. Fantastic site well worth a visit.

A beautiful site that is worthy of a lot of praise for its efforts.Very well maintained, very clean, and excellent value for money.

We took a part of four adults and three children, there was plenty for the kids to do on the site, with lots of room for them to play without disturbing fellow campers.

It was just a shame we didn't realise there was an Indian take-away just down the road or we would of used that one night, our neighbours tried it and said it was very good.

A big thank you to the two members of staff, very helpful and knowledgeable about the area.

This site is a credit to those involved with it. Well done. First Rate camping.

New to caravanning and this was our third trip out. Outstanding site, well run, beautifully maintained and a shame we had to leave.

Easy access, pitches are big, we had a pitch with water and electric. You need a tv lead of about 5m and that should be fine.

It's a short walk into the village and going the other way you can walk alongside the river (circular walk is about 1.5miles).

Swallow falls is a short drive away.

The whole village is lovely and the locals are very friendly.

All in all a great place and yes we will return.

Our first trip out for 2010. Stayed 2 nights here. This is a very nice site. Well run, immaculately kept with great views. Situated between a golf course to the right and a railway line and river to the left. Very little train noise as they are so infrequent. They're even rather quaint!

Not particularly well signposted from the A5 and if you miss the turnoff, it would be a long time before you could turn easily. Coming from Conway, you go across the bridge and into Betws. There is a sign for the Riverside site, but it is easily missed. The sat nav is useful as it tells you when to turn right into Church Road.

The road to the site and the site entrance are OK, but you would not get 2 units passing in many places, so don't arrive before 12.00.

Pretty fast and efficient check in. You're given an electronic barrier swipe key, toilet block key and a very good site map, which clearly shows the pitch numbers. A very easy site to manoeuvre on, even with a twin axel. Good wide roads and no tricky bollards to avoid. All pitches are all-weather and of a generous size. Many are superpitches.

The site is very well tended and the pitches are very flat and obviously well looked after. No recycling in the bin area, which is a shame and unusual for a CC affiliated site.

As has been said - the toilet block is

Really nice for a small site and is always very clean.

We particularly liked the dog walk. It starts at the end of the site past the small grassed tent area and runs along the river and around the golf course. There were no leaves on the treas and it was still beautiful. Will be spectacular in the autumn. Mountain views on both sides.

Only 2 min walk to the town via a footbridge over the railway. Plenty of shops/bars etc. As always in Wales, too many hiking and twee souvenir shops. Could not find a dog friendly pub.

Betws y coed is a fairly dull place, but this is a great small site and a good base to explore Snowdonia. Highly recommended and we will return.

A fantastic site in a stunning location.

Large hardstanding pitches all with service points close by. No recycling here - which we found quite strange for a CC (affilliated) site???? Our pitch sat right alongside the railway line. Thankfully there weren't that many trains late evening or early morning! 5* toilet/shower block (key entry) with in-house laundry and washing up room (separate). Small but good shop. Barrier in and out of the site (£10 deposit or your CC card required for barrier swipe-card).

A short walk from the site takes you over the railway line via a bridge into the village. Plenty of shops, pubs, cafes, restaurants, etc., etc., to keep one and all happy. There is loads of walking in this area too.

We stayed at this site for 3 nights and I agree with a previous comment that the reception staff were very efficient, but didn't make you feel very welcome. We had quite a bad and long journey to get there and so I was a little flustered when I arrived. I couldn't find the caravan club card, although I had all other documentation and even our account number. The lady didn't seem impressed with this. Then to top it all we didn't have any cash on us to pay the £10 deposit, so left our sat nav with them so we could get the keys to access the site, pitch up and go to the bank.

It was still the same attitude when we departed and went to collect our £10 deposit.

That said, the facilities were good and it was in an excellent location. It was just a short walk over the railway bridge to the busy village with plenty of shops, pubs / restaurants and outdoor wear. Most things did seem pricey, but it is a very touristy place so this is to be expected.

The tent area was closed and I think this is because it had been raining heavily all week before we arrived.

We climbed Snowdon from the Llanberis path, which was about a 20-30 min drive away.

We ate in the stables pub that night and the food was adequate. We didn't care because we were so tired and hungry after battling with the 55 mph winds up Snowdon.

We visited Caernafon the following day, which is about 40 mins away. Went in the castle, which is very good at just £4.95 per adult and there are plenty of shops in the town.

What a great site. Stayed for 3 nights.

Excellent location only a few minutes walk into Betws-y-coed with plenty of eating places, pubs, Spar and loads of outdoor-wear shops!

Pretty place with lots of woodland and river walks. Swallow falls and Fairy Glen? both within walking distance. Lots of other places within a short drive away.

Slate museum at Lanberris well worth a visit (and its free!)Lanberris lovely too.

Nicely laid out site with huge pitches, kept immaculate, new toilet block with every facility.

Friendly helpful wardens. Well stocked site shop for outdoor bits and pieces.

Site is surrounded by beautiful pine trees, borders a golf course and at the back access to the river. Train runs close by, noisy but only a couple a day so no problem.(small section for pup tents at rear of site).

Small discount for C.C members. Bit pricey for the super pitches but location and site facilities are worth it.(You get stamps for each night you stay, 12 gives you a free night)

Would definitely stay again.

It's a lovely site, very convenient in a great location. The facilities were all up to date, good site shop too. Betwys-y-coed itself is perfect for walking and you can get a really good meal at the Royal Oak or take the train into Llandudno.

We only had one gripe - one of the wardens was very unhelpful, even rude. She seemed much more interested in telling people what they couldn't do than answering questions etc. (The other staff were great.) This was a pity as it affected other aspects of an otherwise very pleasant stay - for instance, she seemed to prefer to site new arrivals as far away from all facilities as possible, even when there was plenty of room, and wasn't happy when we asked for a pitch nearer the entrance.

Otherwise I would definitely recommend this site.

We went to have a look at this site which looked lovely, clean, neat and tidy. It was somewhere where we would have liked to have stayed as it was close to just about everything - shops - walks, river etc.

The down side is that when we asked about camping they give the impression that campers are not at all welcome. Only 2 man tents are allowed and the camping area is tiny and shoved up a corner.

One of the campers we spoke to said it was noisy as it was under a railway bridge. Such a shame because it did look a lovely site.

This is very much a review from a tent camper's point of view. Looking back through the previous reviews and having chatted to a couple of other tent campers at the site, it sounds like the change of ownership to Morris Leisure has come with a continuing change in emphasis toward caravans and motorhomes.

A previous review suggests that tents are being pushed out and it certainly feels that way. Tents are now restricted to 'two person backpacker tents', to quote reception staff. These are limited to about 10 tiny pitches on a triangular area of grass at the very far end of the site where the access gate leads to the 'dog walk' and riverside. One of my neighbours told me that this area has been further reduced from last year when all the area from the split in the road was still tents. In fact the Morris Leisure website page for Riverside suggests there are still 29 tent pitches.

The amenities, security gating, etc. Are top-quality CC/C&CC caravan site fare. Hot, continuous showers and spotless washroom facilities. Washing up area and laundry. Grass is manicured, gravel is neat. Reception staff are efficient if not wholly welcoming.

The tents are on allocated, marked pitches about 300m from the amenities block. That's over half a kilometre round trip to wash up, which is a huge incentive to eat out. Bladder management is especially important after a visit to the local hostelries. Water and rubbish points are closer; there's a single dustbin at the end of the camping area and water about 100m away.

As a tent camper you are crammed into a tiny space. I paced out the pitches at around 8m wide and I guess around 3-6m deep. And that has to include your car. I don't know if they ever fill all the pitches or just rotate to protect the grass but it would be touch and go on fire safety if they filled it. The site regulations do stipulate breathable groundsheets but that's obviously not applied to two-person tents. I only stayed two nights.

The tent area is right under the railway embankment, which is a sobering experience when the first train thunders just a few feet above your head at 6am. And 7am and 8am, just to make sure you are really awake. The vibration was enough to set my Trangia rattling. The other side of the tent area is bordered by conifers at the edge of the golf course so there's not much of a view. There's not much privacy either because the campers with dogs pass a few feet from your door on the way to the riverside path, which also provides a short-cut into town.

There's no EHU on tent pitches if that's your thing. Price was £8pppn with £1.50pn for a car. Discounts for CC/C&CC members. No motorcycles allowed, which seems a little discriminatory against touring bikers.

Town is 5 minutes by the back way. Closer than the amenities block in fact. Local SPAR is open until 9pm.

I called in as part of a five day trip, just to try it as a base in Betws-y-Coed really. I doubt if I would stay again. The tiny tent area and distance from the otherwise excellent facilities mark it down for me. The other tent campers I spoke to on site had been visiting for years and said they weren't coming back. I think that if the tent area could accommodate a hard-standing and driveway, this would be 100% caravans and motorhomes. As it is, it feels like it's just a spare patch of grass that the company can't use other than to make a few quid off a few small tents.
