This site is part of a static site with a large triangular mostly flat camping area adjacent, bounded on one side by a golf course and on the other by a railway line. This is not intrusive as it is sheltered by trees and the trains run very infrequently.

The toilet block is adequate and was very clean during our visit. The caravan pitches are close together but was not a problem on our visit as the site was not very full. The site was kept very well maintained by the two very pleasant wardens and is surrounded by the forested hills of the area. The main appeal of the site is its close proximity to Betwys y Coed, only a 5 min. Walk to the shops, restuarents etc. And the easy access to the heart of Snowdonia.

It is a site we have returned to several times and have not been disapointed.

Over the winter period the site is to be redeveloped by its new owners which should make it better than before

This was our first time camping (ever) so with 2 young children we found ourselves at the riverside, we couldn't have picked a better place. We turned up with no reservation & luckily they had 2 pitches left, we we're told to go & have a look and to return if we wanted to stay which we did and we we're very surprised at how good & clean the facilities were.
It cost £6 per adult per night & £1 for the car no charges for under 5's. there are 2 sink areas for washing dishes and several drinking water taps around the site,  there was no extra charges for showers as with some sites we looked at & the water was always hot no matter when you used them. There is a 20p charge for hair dryers which is more than reasonable. There is plenty of room at the pitch for the children to play.
We were so impressed we are looking to return again next week !

On arrival I was surprised to find that the reception was open, as normally you just pitched where you wanted, and the site fee is collected in the morning. However, after commenting on this to the chap in reception it turned out that the site is now under new ownership, and there are now strict rules and allocated pitches. I was told there was a big problem with campers setting up for the night, then disappearing early next morning to avoid paying for their pitch!
Apart from this, I found the site to be much the same as before with clean toilets and showers and a fairly quiet pleasant atmosphere. My only gripe with the site is that it allows dogs on the camping field. I've nothing against them, I just don't like being woken up at half past six by the sound of yapping dogs.

This other reviewer on this site is talking rubbish.
How picky do they want to be!
Ive just returned from here at the weekend.
And I must say, It was one of the best weekends I've had in a very long time.
On arrival, the couple that met me, were very helpful and warming. And Although we arrived late, fitted us in no problem.
The Pitch was in a great view also.
The site is surrounded by two streams, which are just lovely to go and look at.
The position of the site, it just 2 minutes walk into the village centre, were there are pubs, and restaurants.
The Showers, are as the other review states, push showers, on a timer, but whats wrong with pushing the button several times and then letting it run out? They were very clean, and the site was immacualately kept. Not one bit of litter.
The positioning of this site, couldnt be any better.
I am returning on the 1st september again with more friends as we loved it.

Stayed at this campsite for a long weekend and to be honest that was enough.  It is not a campsite we would rush to go back to.  There are no facilities for children to play (they are asked not to play ball games at all and instead to use the local playing field which is over the train track and road)  All the pitches are close together which on busy times gives no privacy.

There are only 4 or five toilets which are not unclean but also are not the cleanest I have seen.  The showers are push showers and don't give much time between each push to wash.  These are again not unclean but with many people walking in and out they do appear unclean.  There is a bucket with mop left so you can do your own cleaning.  The toilets are locked for an hour a day for cleaning (very inconvenient)

The site charges far too much for the facilities.

No prebooking required for tents, just arrive and pitch if space available. Rarely noticed the reception office open though warden was available on a regular basis usually before 10am in morning and teatime in the afternoon.

We arrived Sunday afternoon July 23rd and the site was almost full to capacity. We pitched on the side by the wire fence. (West.) The only free space on the day. This area is very slightly sloped.
Unknown to us this was the boundary to the railway embankment. The first trains clattered by very loudly at 6 am then the next at 7am.

The wash facilities were very good. Modern looking and well decorated with fresh paint. The washroom was closed at certain times of the day for cleaning. The closure  times were posted onto the door and were different each day. This may be inconvenient for some. Instant Hot water was available, even at 3am in the morning.

The large freezer on site was packed to the brim. We could not use this facility. I even thought of sneaking some of my ice blocks into someones basket for a few hours but thought better of it.

The launderette consisted of one large washing machine and a tumble drier. Cost was 3 quid for a wash cycle and a quid for the dryer. The machines were newish and looked after.

Washing up facilities were fine There were only 2 cubicles, occasionally you had to wait for your turn.  Again hot water was instant.

There were ample refuse points dotted around the site and I noticed refuse collected daily
There were ample standpipes for cold drinking water.

The site didnt have its own shop, though only 5 mins away there was a spar and Londis in the village.

Nearest pub was the hotel on the main road,  next to the HSBC bank where the nearest cashpoint is situated

On the whole we found this site to be well tended and it certainly suited our needs for the week, though the midges will bite in the early evening and can be a nuisance.

WE SHALL CERTAINLY BE VISITING AGAIN.
