 What a wonderful find.

Once you've found Burton Flemming you'll be ok.

Site entrance is via single track at the side of the farmhouse (must be looking for it because you 'come across' it all of a sudden - opposite the pond) but soon opens out to a wonderful site. It's def a proper farm (not a livestock farm) so don't go expecting it all neat and tidy and everything in it's place. Take it as you find it - neat freaks and hygiene freaks do not book.

4 Fields in all. The first has the electric hook up (electricians just don't look as cables run up side of hedges) and takes vans and tents and motorhomes. The next was full of vans when we were there then there's a huge tent / non ehu field and another huge (non ehu) field after that.

The owner, Rob, has put many features in the fields but they don't get in the way - mainly little crops of standing stones and trees and plants - very effective, very nice.

Recycling is a big part of the site and instructions are clearly given by Rob on arrival. Costs you nothing to do it so please do - there are plenty of specific bins all around the site.

There are plenty of free range chickens and ducks wandering about and Frank the Turkey (pic on my profile). Frank will chase you if you chase him but they all get put away for the night.

Owner has a lovely dog called Lucy. She is getting on a bit and is loosing her sight.

Please don't let you children get too close as she does bit - she gave my daughter a really nasty bite on her hand requiring hospital attention - but she DOES NOT roam about the site and is usually at the house or in the car.

Owner sells free range eggs and honey from the house.

You can hire fires and firewood for about £4.50 a night but may have to pay a deposit as people have started to steal the fire baskets (Why??!)

Every weekend morning 9am - 10am - or if the site is busy - Rob does his chef bit and sells cooked breakfasts of varying sorts. Also does juice, coffee and other stuff. There is a nice littel area - sort of under cover - to sit and eat it in. I think it also doubles as a bar at night time on bank holiday weekends.

There is a swing in a tree for the children to play on but a regular camper told us Rob is going to do a play area but is not sure what to put in it yet. Children had loads of fun and there was loads and loads of space for them to run about and play. I believe there is also quite a good dog walk.

By 10.30 at night all was just about quiet, human wise. Think the cockerels had a problem with their watches though and the doves!

Solar lights are put out in various places around the site to help when it gets dark

This is a Farm site so don't expect all singing and dancing facilities.

Ladies:

All facilities are in two old grain silos. 3 cubicals in one silo, each with toilet, wash basin, little table and plenty of room, coat hooks, cotton wool. There's a big mirror and table and place to plug in the hairdryer too.

The second silo has a shower room with shower(doh! of course),basin, toilet, mirrors, table, chair and plenty of room. The other half is a wash room with toilet, etc but loads of room to get the whole family in. Showers are 20p for 2 mins of hot water.

Only the one shower and you do get queues at busy times. I managed to get showered on 40p and also the children both in at once for 40p.

Everything is very clean but basic - no heated floors or anything but everything you need.

Both have lights that work on motion sensors.

Gents 'Tinkle Cottage'

OH says they are more basic than the ladies. Again only one shower that works with 20p's and I think he said 2 toilet cubicles and one that is both a gents and ladies toilet.

There are wash up points at both toilet sites.

Chemical waste point is set well away.

The village of Burton Felmming has a shop/post office travelling van (with a v friendly post mistress) and you can get papers and provisions in the shop - freah milk, cakes and pies and sanwiches, nappies etc etc etc in the shop. No village pub as it has now closed.

Hunmanby is about 3 miles away and has everyting you could want. I recommend the Fruit and veg shop, the deli type shop next door is excellent for pies, cakes, bread, cheeses, olives and stuff like that, and the chemist. There is a very good Dr's surgery too should you need it (we did). A Co-op open till 10pm, Chippy, Chinese takeaway which will deliver to the camp site for a bit extra and quite a few pubs to choose from. (other shops too).

Scarborough is about 20-30 mins drive away - there are roadworks along the road at time of this review which hold up traffic at busy times and look like they are very much on going - looks like some sort of by-pass road or duel carriage way to better handle all the traffic.

Bridlington is about 10 miles the other way - good beaches and chaper for ice-creams than Scarborough!

Filey (our favorite) about 10 mins away - good garage just out of Hunmanby on way to Filey (good priced petrol).

All have good beaches and good beach fronts to walk along - really well kept and interesting - good beach access.

Parking is one of the things that'll cost you though.

Just a note - the hospital at Brid is minor injuries only and only open 9am-9pm. Nearest A&E is Scarborough.

Sorry to waffle on but hope this is helpful to you.

We loved this site and will be going back next year - all being well.

Enjoy your stay .

Great site. Had a couple of nights here on the far tent field.

A proper camping site, camp fires and BBQ's allowed and even rented out by the owner.

Good to see lots of re-cycling bins around the place - unlike the C&C Club sites!

Lots of poultry wandering around, they don't bother you if you don't bother with them.

Toilet blocks and showers quite quirky, basic but clean. Can get busy on a weekend but if you avoid the 8:30am to 10:00am rush you'll be fine.

Owner has a catering an and cooks breakfast for those who can't be bothered, has a good range of coffee too.

Buy free range eggs and honey on site - the best you've possibly ever tasted!

Going back for a week with a gang of friends very soon.

Only 10 mins drive to the fantastic family resort of Filey, can't speak too highly of this 'proper' camp site.

The site is very quirky, lots of hens and roosters and 'Frank the Turkey' running round freely. Mix this with some stone lions, columns and some junk from a scrap yard and you have this farm site. The owner is very friendly and also has his own cafe which serves breakfast in a morning!
The site itself is quite nice and there is plenty of space to get a big pitch. The toilets were OK but the shower facilities were of a poor standard though and take some 20p coins with you for them (there is only 1 for men and 1 for ladies, and they are not very modern).
There is no playground for the kids, but plenty of space for them to run around. Overall the site is nice, but suffers from the poor shower facilities, but then again it is quite cheap. 6/10.

The owners of this site should get a conservation award. For anyone interested in real rural life - not the green welly and 4x4 that never sees a muddy field - then this is the site for you. The owners have left areas for wild flowers, planted trees including quite a few native species and generally absorbed the camping/caravanning into a proper working environment.

Chickens, ducks and turkeys - note Frank the largest turkey in the world - wander at will - and produce delicious eggs in return (well, Frank doesn't but the chickens do). The hedges are full of birds and there is nothing so comforting as waking to the crowing of a cockeril in the morning.

This site is for true campers. No light pollution, no made roads and concrete slabs to put the jockey on, just friendly people and lots of peace and quiet.

Can't comment on the facilites - never used them - but I'm not really interested in heated shower blocks and piped music.

Will we return - you bet. They have some of the best objects - concrete lions, old concrete gateposts, bits of defunct (I hope) churches and I can't wait to see if the collection grows!

We visted this campsite during the may bank holiday. On arrival we were greeted by very free range chickens, ducks, geese and guinee fowl.

We parked our caravan next to the tree with a childs swing on which our four year old daughter loved. The park would benefit from a play area though.

The price was reasonable enough seeming as it was a bank holiday. The facilitys such as toilets etc were basic but ideal for what you want on a farm campsite.

Our daughter loved feeding the many hens and ducks etc that came running as soon as she threw some bread. The owner robert opened the bar for the weekend. All drinks were £2.00 which was great and it was lovley to sit at the little bar with the fire burning and frank the turkey gobbling about.

Robert the owner runs the whole site and does a great job, he does the bar, breakfast in the morning, chopping wood and hiring of bikes and fires and bbqs etc. Everything on the site is recycled which is good and bins are clearly labelled.

The campsite is in the village of burton flemming and completley out the way and very peacfull and enjoyable. Close to scarborough, bridlington and filey and small villages near by.

We will definatly be ging back again.

Just arrived home after a lovely few days at mere farm. It is a really quirky and unique site with an excellent farm atmosphere, with the chickens, hens, ducks and Frank the turkey all wandering around.
The site is clean and there was plenty of space for our dogs to run around in. The toilets were clean, tidy and had lots of homely touches like pictures on the walls, and seats to wait on on the porch. Yes they were basic, but it is a campsite and I have been to far far worse. The lights in the facilities are for the main part sensor activated which prevents electricity being wasted by having the light left on, and also prevented there being lots of midgies and flies attracted by the lights.
The recycling facilities are great, and it is good to see someone who cares for the environment and who makes it easy for others to do so too.

The owner was a friendly presence at all times and very helpful. Our air bed got a puncture and he was able to provide us with a new one and his breakfasts were fab and saved on the washing up! we bought some of his homemade honey which was excellent too. Frank the turkey was a little intimidating at first, but the children that were there were not having any problems stroking him. If nervous you could just keep your distance and there were no problems.

We loved the creative nature of the site with the lion statues and the huge chimnea and tinkle cottage for the toliet block was a unique touch. There is also the opportunity to rent fire wood and a metal cage for the night for £3 which made for a lovely evening. Bikes are also available for hire. The site is only half an hour from bridlington, flamborough and other beaches and we would love to return.

Went friday and saturday night, Campsite is very basic and the toilets could do with modernising. The owner said hello when we got there and that was all we saw of him till it was time to pay and leave.
There are lots of chickens and turkeys that just wander the site and a very large turkey apparently called Frank that tended to get in the way while we were setting up, thankfully we didn't take our two small children that weekend as I am not sure how child friendly the animals and the site in general is (lots of piles of bricks and metal around).
All in all not too bad a weekend, price was reasonable at £12.50 a night for caravan, awning and electric.

We had a lovely stay (despite the weather) at this basic but well run campsite, I agree the toilet and shower facilities are a little rustic but we felt the site and owner more than made up for this, we had our 3 young children with us and never had any problems.
The owner Rob is very accomodating and hard working and the breakfast sandwiches are delicious. The site is well situated for Filey, Bridlington and surrounding area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning

This was the fist time we have stayed at this site and I have to say it was like going back in time.

We visited this site over the August bank holiday weekend it is the perfect place to get away from it all.The chickens run around the site and the eggs are sold in the farm shop along with local honey. Bacon butties are served on a morning by the owner along with tea and coffee for £1.50.

The owner Rob works very hard and was always nice to us.

The site is very basic but well kept it is a great place to visit for a few days.

Not far from Bridlington

All in all a Fantastic site for all ages and will be back would definitely recommend.

We visited this site over the bank holiday weekend after reading the good reviews it had received by people off here.

We were greeted by the farmer who owns the site and he told us to go to one of the back fields which there was 4 in total.  By the time we got there it was quite full with tents, caravans and motor homes.  We looked around the back field but it was far too bumpy for a tent so went back to field number 3 and found a suitable pitch.

The site now has a bar which serves lager (£2.50 a pint), bitter and  pimms and soft drinks.  It is open until approximately 11.30 pm.

From the same place he serves breakfast from 8 - 10.30 am, breakfast in a bun which consists of 2 slices of bacon and egg costs £2, and I must add it is delicious.

The men's toilets are next to the bar/breakfast area which is at the front of the site is aptly named tinkle cottage there is 1 shower and the ladies toilets are the other side which are in some old grain silos, 1 has a shower and toilet and another separate toilet in and the other has 2 separate toilets in, the shower costs 20 pence.  The toilets are open all night and the farmer cleans these out through the day.

You can hire bikes for adults and children £2.50 for half day or £3.00 for a full day which I think is very reasonable.

You can also hire BBQ's for £3.00 for the night or get some wood for a fire.

There are chickens, ducks wandering around the site and the farm turkey which is called Frank, he is friendly and lets you stroke him.  There is also a dog which is called Lucy and she is very friendly.  So as you can see the site is very animal friendly.  There was lots of dogs there and our dog loved it, she was fascinated by the chickens because she hasn't seen them before.

The farmer sells free range eggs for 75 pence for half a dozen which I think is very reasonable and he also sells honey.

Whilst we were there we were fascinated by the scarecrows which were all over the village because they were having a scarecrow festival.

Because it was bank holiday whilst we were there it was really packed approximately 100 tents and caravans but the farmer still coped with us all.

The farmer is really big on recycling which I think is brilliant, he has bins for this all over the site, so there is no excuse not to recycle.

The site isn't far away from Filey or Bridlington so you can go there for days out.

Only thing I can moan about is the lack of electric hook ups and some people don't abide by the rules i.e music off at 10.30 pm but you always get a group like that where ever you go and that is no fault of the site.

Oh just one thing I'd like to add is that the site could do with a children's play area, just something simple and safe like a climbing frame, swings and seesaw.

Overall a good site and will definitely go again.
