I booked on this site because of the reviews and I am always looking for something different. On arrival up a dusty lane I thought I was arriving at a working farm come reclamation yard! What a wonderful amazing place. Rob is one of the lovely, very English eccentrics, Pete more than helpful, provided hammer to knock in my windbreak and even a charger for my mobile phone as I had forgotten mine.
Security were two very handsome turkeys, Frank and Furter who inspected me and my tent as I was erecting it, gave a very hoity humpf before they were satisfied I was safe, though my dog wasn't and had to be placed in the car for his own safety, he's a large boxer by the way.
Didnt see any play area for children though there are rabbits, budgies, guinnea pigs and lots of chickens. Lovely dog walk past the wheat fields, the chuck wagon, very disappointed it wasn't open while I was there. Clean, quiet and very entertaining with George the resident dog and the turkeys. I awoke the first morning to a cacophany of bird song and lots of very loud cockerals
Facilities, very unusual in old silos, only one shower which would be a problem if site is full, cobwebby but fairly clean.
Visits to Hunmanby Gap, lovely beach with cafe and Filey, didn't go to Scarborough or Bridlington though both within few miles.
I will definitely return, don't come if you enjoy all first class facilities,do come if you like something different with very caring friendly owners.

Our second visit, and I have to say the site is clearly getting too much for the owner to keep up to. The toilets and shower were just yucky - they were odd & a bit pokey before, but they clearly haven't been properly cleaned for a very long time. A new mop & bucket, perhaps left with clean disinfected water in it twice each day, would go a long way to helping the campers help the owner - it's hard to clean up after yourself (or even before as I needed to!) as it is now.
It's a shame the hygiene is so poor, because the other parts of this site - the space, the fire pits, the generally friendly atmosphere - are great. It's a great base for seeing the east coast or Yorkshire and the village itself (and Hunmanby next door) is worth a stroll.
The site has lost our custom though, and I suspect people returning this year will be disappointed with the worsened facilities. To that end, I've only given it a low score, which is a shame.

Our 1st camping trip. Had a great time and found Robert very helpful. We were there on a very busy bank holiday weekend, but still plenty of room. Good level grassy site and free to pitch where ever. Enjoyed a glass of real ale available from the chuck wagon and the fire braziers available to hire were very welcome on an evening.
The ladies facilities [4 x toilets and wash basins, but only 1 shower] were better than the gents.
Good position for visiting the east coast, and nice village. We enjoyed a late Sunday lunch in the Burton Arms in the village.
Overall a unique experience along with turkeys, hens, geese, and george the dog.
Will definitely visit again.

We visited Bobby Bees campsite in early June - it's a great little find - not too busy and we only called on the day - plenty of room so you don't feel hemmed in and yet enough atmosphere on an evening.
You can buy a fire pit for £5 which comes with logs and lasts all night. There is also a little cafe / portable cabin which serves great brekkie baps with the free range eggs in the morning - the coffee is also great - you don't expect the good stuff at campsites but this made a difference!
There is a real focus on recycling with rainwater recycled for flushing the toilets. The toilet / shower blocks were basic and clean and there were a few nice touches like cotton wool in the ladies. The ground was soft and flat so easy to pitch up.
This is a great eccentric site with real character, stone obelisks, roaming chickens and a pavilion area to eat your breakfast. Great location for getting to the coast and Hummanby offers some good facilities with a little supermarket, a deli, fish and chips etc. The place also sells honey and eggs produced on site. We will be back!

We stayed over the Spring Bank holiday, and found the site a real mixed bag.
Booking in was disorganised. He directed us to two pitches that were already allocated to someone else's party. We then ended up on a narrow bit of land next to the road through, unable to put our tent in the direction we wanted. Then another caravan turned up and squashed in at the end so that our two tents were virtually touching. The ground is very stony, but we were prepared with H Duty pegs.
The site is lacking in a couple of vital areas, one being the organisation, and size of pitch if you have a tent that needs EHU, and the other is the cleaning facilities.
Poor shower (only one), cramped loos and only two sinks sets out the Gents. The Ladies again has one poor shower, sinks in the cubicles, causing queues, and poor drainage. Sadly these facilities are not up to the size of park.
Washing up was characterised by intermittent hot water, and when you pulled out the plug the dirty water washed over your feet.
There are some pluses, the setting is nice, the Chuck Wagon adds a lot of character, and George and the Turkeys are entertainment in their own way!

Just come back from 2 nights at this lovely little site close to Hunmanby. It is hidden away and in no way 'commercial' which is perfect in my view.
Rob is very hospitable and the free range animals (including some very cute baby bunnies)make the site feel more homely. Follow the rules though, or you will be for it. Rob has obviously been taken for a ride in the past and now has a hardline stance on people taking the mickey and stealing things. (This means CCTV in some areas and paying a deposit for a firebasket, but it was well worth it).
I love the sense of recycling and reuse this site has, from old pallets broken up for campfire wood to the loos being housed (quite brilliantly, and spotlessly) in grain silo's. That was a first!
Some folks were quite badly affected by the wind whilst we were there, but they were camped on the top of the hill, we managed to find a spot at the bottom and were really well sheltered.
The campfires we were able to have really added to the fun, and Rob hires out fire baskets or recycled car wheels on stands to have them in. It is a fantastic idea and so very rare, as most sites are too health and safety conscious to allow such things. There is a small kids play area too. At £22.50 for 2 nights for 2 people, it was cracking value for money.
Bridlington is only 7 miles away for supermarkets and seasideness, but if you want veggies, try the honesty shop at the next door farm. I fully recommend the Chuck Wagon breakfast in a bun.It was cheap, yummy and it meant there was no washing up to do!
Bempton Cliffs are well worth a visit, even when the puffins aren't in, there are loads of other birds and the scenery is breathtaking.

Absolutely Lovely Site. Not for you if you like Butlins! Robs is a good hoste & not to forget Pete, who is there with the camp fire, wood, refuge collection, although Rob Demands recycling (too right). A little bit noisy on the Saturday night, thought that 9.45 was a bit inconsiderate of other people letting their children still be out & about. Trying to get our 2 year old to sleep with a distraction was a bit hard. The chickens, turkey & dog all make it very nice. If your a snob it wont do for you but if you don't just want to be run of the mill its ace. Will definitely visit again!

The campsite is set in a beautiful location in the Yorkshire Wolds and only a few miles from Bridlington and Filey. We all really liked the site, the EHU were all booked up so we were just on the tent field which was nice and flat.
There are plenty of recycling bins and Rob (the owner) encourages you to recycle everything. Facilities are limited with only one shower in the men's block but at a £1 for 10 mins there was plenty of hot water, you just need to avoid the busy times.
We spent a very nice evening in the 'Chuck Wagon' which is a pub at night and a breakfast area in the morning. Nice pint of the local brew, Wold Top, and at £2 a pint I thought very reasonable. In fact everything seems to be £2.
My kids enjoyed the hens and turkey's running around and we were far enough away for them not bother us. Nice touch with the camp fires and we had plenty of wood the evening. If the toilet facilities could be extended then this would really finish the site off (which is something Rob is planning to do). Would recommend this site to anyone and I think that the site fees are very reasonable.

We spent the weekend at Mere farm and took some friends who had never camped before and we all had a good stay. We had been before but the the showers / loos and washing up let this site down. But I must say Rob has cleaned up the toilets / showers, washing up area and are fine now. There is also a sheltered area near the chuck wagon, still rustic but that all adds to the charm of the site.
Well worth a visit. Tent 2 people £10.00 per night. Take 20p's for shower. If you a proper beach go to Humanby gap, £2.50 parking all day. Only one cafe / shop great.

Was met by Rob, a very welcoming man that showed us where everthing was, let me add when I phoned him the day before to see when we could arrive, he just said whatever time we liked, so we arrived approx 12. We camped in our caravan for the 1st time ever with our 3 children aged 5, 3 & 1.
The site itself is situated in beautiful countryside. Rob said that he has a few projects on going as there were bricks with pallets in areas. We were lucky where we had running water & toilet in the caravan, my aunty & uncle who went with us stayed in their tent, commented that there was never any hot water for dishwashing & the showers were in need of a good clean & update, we avoided the showers & toilets
Turkeys, chickens & George the dog roam freely, although turkeys were a pai. In the end seemed to want to get to my daughter aged 20 mths & son aged 3 but they didn't bother with my older son 5,
All in all I would go back to the site later in the yr to see what changes have been made if any, but would only stay for 2 nights again, so we could avoid the showers. Kids had a great time played on the tree swings & I felt they were safe.
