We arrived with just a few hours booking notice, great to find a place - we thought! Site is as previous reviews but I really wanted to add that the showering/toilet facilities are awful :(
We were charged £18 per night for 2 adults & 2 children, more that at the site we were at near Ashborne where facilities were superb! Having to pay for a shower is a joke - and it was dire! Pkus there were over 100 pitches not the 30, so as you can imagine 2 showers and 6 toilets were not going to be adequate!
The chickens are everywhere, but we did expect that, however the amount of poo from them in the area's you need to be in such as the waste emptying area is terrible. The power was intermittent and our fridge was warm when we came back as it had been off all day - by the way it's only 5 amp, which is why it is always going off as people are using hairdryers. The electric cables are all over the place a real trip hazard as the lighting is very poor/to none at all!
The owner is a nice chap, if the prices were reduced by half I would visit again (but come well prepared with my gennie!)

After reading reviews, thought we'd give it a try. Arrived Friday evening about 6pm Rob was up in top field had a walkie talkie system on door of reception so called to let him know we'd arrived. He said he'd be down shortly was in top field as we were blocking the lane we moved car and trailert ent further up lane after waiting 15 mins went looking for him explained who I was and got a very frosty reaction telling me I'd not booked etc told me to go wait by the field further down he'd sort me out, another 15 mins later he came to me realised he'd got me mixed up with a trailer tent he moved off the field for being noisy till 2am in the morning earlier in the week and apologised for being shirty but damage was done.
Having said all this was a great few nights hired a bbq and firepit which the kids loved had our bacon butties in the morning from the snackbar which was reasonably priced turkeys were great lots of animals roaming reviews were not wrong about showers me and my daughter went across to ladies put a £1 in machine and got 10 mins I had mine fine when she got in with plenty time left everytime anyone went to use toilet or ran a tap it went freezing cold and took 2 mins to warm up again.
But overall if your after a long weekend you can't go wrong for the price will go back. There's a nice village pub and lots to do with bridlington down the road.

When we arrived here we found it quaint a little run down but friendly. Every thing seemed to be made of recycled material, we pitched our tent on the outside of the cornfield which was lovely and quiet until a group of 9 youths camped next to us. In the evening the camp fire was wonderful that rob supplied at £4.50 was well worth it and the free range eggs are delicious . The toilets were a bit of a trek and they needed a good clean but they served there purpose.

Just returned from a one night stay at Bobbybees, had a great time! Facilities are basic but Rob is looking to improve them. The firepits made our evening, its well worth getting one. The guy who says they only last for 90mins is wrong as we had ours going for three hours! Well worth the £4.50. The site is clean and tidy, don't know how Rob manages to do it all himself! Site is lovely and quiet as it is away from main roads and all pitches are flat so you are guaranteed a level tent pitch. If you are looking for a site with modern facilities this is not the place for you but if you are looking for an authentic camping experience with plenty of rustic charm, this is the place for you. Can't wait to go back.

This is a great site for anyone wanting peace, warmth and a safe spot for kids. It is small, but with a large tent field so you don't feel overwhelmed by caravans. It is rustic, and that is it's charm, but not for people who want every mod con. The best bit is the fact that Rob, the owner, provides fire pits (£4.50 incl wood) so even if it is chilly you can sit out for hours. He also has a small bar that opens on Bank Hols (we came May Day weekend too) and serves local real ale! The site is close to Filey or would be great for some Wolds walking/cycling. The kids love it here and can have relative freedom. The downside for me is the toilet block - though it is cleaned and Rob provides toilet roll, soap and even cotton wool (it never ran out of anything, a rare thing!) it is just not enough when site is busy. Rob says it is his next development.

One of the seemingly few campsites that will take larger tents (our tent is a large dome tent which measures 30ft x 30ft). Mere Farm was our first camping experience and most certainly won't be our last. Beautiful surroundings and very well kept camping fields, freshly mown. We must have gone at a really quiet time as we were the only tent in the tent field and had the mini stonehenge to ourselves.
Prices were very reasonable at £10 per tent for 2 people. Facilities were good, Rob the owner, is an absolute star - he does everything himself and nothing was too much trouble, from cooking breakfasts in the Chuck Wagon (fantastic food and great value for money and great for a hangover cure when you have had far too much cheap french wine to drink) to bringing the fire pit around in the evening which made our first evening of 'campage' a very enjoyable experience (fire pits £4.50).
Lots of free range chickens and of course, the 2 turkeys, Frank and Mork, who were extremely friendly. Also best free range eggs in the world on sale! We took our two dogs with us and had plenty of quiet lanes and country roads to walk them.
Hunmanby Gap is the most beautiful beach and only about 5 miles from the campsite. Local pub only does food from Wed-Sun, so watch out for that. There is also a post office and a butchers in the village, a short walk from the farm.
Facilities were adequate: men - there was 1 shower and 3 toilets, same for ladies, which at peak times must be inconvenient. Showers were nice and hot though, 20p for 2 mins worth. No play area as such for kids, although there was a lovely swing from an old tree and plenty of room for running around, ball games etc.
Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be going back!

After reading this site's reviews of Mere Farm we decided to visit for the weekend. Once we got there we both looked at each other and thought we had ventured into a time long ago. The site looks very rural and rustic. Chickens, Turkeys and other breeds of birds roaming round. The electrics were a tad basic, being an extension lead.
Toilets are out of date and need a revamp, but it doesn't detract from the fact that this is camping / caravanning and as such this should be expected. Even though they are basic, they are kept clean.
The owner runs a very Green site, making sure that the rubbish is sorted into glass, cans, plastics etc. We loved this site and plan to visit again soon. Very amiable chap who does everything. One thing we found very sad was the local council is trying to shut him down. The reasons given are disgusting. Green issues, lack of public transport, other caravan site in area (even though it isn't a touring site and just statics) We signed a petition to make sure they don't win! If you visit, please help him out by signing the petition to protect him from the local council.

We have just returned from a 2 night trip to Mere Farm, and like a couple of the previous reviews, I have to agree that this place is like going back in time. There is plenty of space for the kids to kick a ball about, and most of the children on the site seemed to be more than happy just cycling around everyone elses pitches.
The toilets are the weak link on this site - I can't speak for the Ladies, but the Mens were not good. They were cleaned daily, but I guess it comes down to the lowest common denominator, and they soon got to be in a state where I was uncomfortable using them.
The fires that Robert - the owner - hires out are adequate, but the wood you get for £4.50 can last as little as 90 minutes, so beware.
So if you like the old fashioned way of camping & early starts due to the chickens etc, then Mere Farm is for you.

This site is very quirky and almost a little bizarre! however we really enjoyed our stay here, the positives, we went early may bank holiday and were met by Robert, who is the owner and runs everything on his own. Robert is very friendly and helpful.
We were in the non electric field, there is loads of space which is great so not too on top of your neighbours. We hired a fire pit, fab, the kids thought this was great, had toasted marshmallows and sat keeping warm, great fun.
On an evening a little bar was open, which was a bit like sitting in steptoes yard with all the old equipment, etc everywhere, but again fun. All the drinks are £2. I got a Pims and lemondade and got a swirly stick and fruit with it! It is a little bizarre as there are chickens, a dog and turkeys walking round all over the place and the toilets are housed in some old farm equipment tanks.
The shower I have to say, I did not like the look of at all and didn't use it. My husband pulled a face after using the mens too! If you don't mind basic facilities this is a great site, in a peaceful location although not too far from the coast (and civilisation!) I would go again, but only for two nights maximum so I could avoid the showers.

Well what can I say but WOW, I am so impressed I doubt we will go camping anywhere else again. Bobby Bee has got it sorted in every way, basic, clean, central to all the east coast seaside resorts, and so helpful.
We had the best two family holidays here already and we are planning to go again in July and August 2009. Thanks to Rob and his eco warrior outlook we have learned a thing or two, not forgetting Frank the guard turkey and Lucy, feel like I am part of it all.
The amusing signs and the swing for the kids, no nintendos all week great! You have to go to see what I mean if you don't laugh on this holiday, you need help! Be back real soon.
