Stayed for 2 nights over the bank holiday weekend, we were given the site rules on arrival but consider this good as all campers know where they stand.
Nice relaxed site, good for the kids, plenty of space for ball games etc, close enough to the coast to enjoy it without the continual expense of some sites, the chuck wagon was open and does reasonably priced breakfast butties, tea and coffee. This turns into a bar on a night and according to hubby and BIL the draught ale is a nice pint (£2.25 a pint).
Toilets and showers (£1 for 10 mins) are cleaned regularly, washing up facilities at both ladies and gents.
Really enjoyed this site and have booked again, it cost just over £60 for 4 adults 3 kids in 2 tents (the dog was free.

Just arrived back from the site after a 3 night stay, and our first time at camping in a tent! It was a great 'first' experience and we would definitely go back again!
The site is basic, though very quirky! Robert who runs the site is a lovely man and always at hand to help.
The site is big on recycling, which is great! There is a chuck waggon, where Rob serves cooked breakfast from, it then turned into a bar in the evening, all very reasonably priced!
The facilities are fairly basic with 3 ladies bathrooms (just toilet, sink and mirror), Gents 'tinkle' cottage and 2 shower rooms, big enough for families. They were cleaned, but no heating I don't think!
There are various animal pens, inc birds, rabbits, chickens and the infamous turkeys, which roamed around all day, keeping the children entertained, but locked away at night. And can't forget George the dog, with his neckerchief on, chasing soft toys. There is also a couple of rope swings to. A childs play area might have been good, but we had lots of room to play various games.
They came round with Fire baskets/logs early evening, £5 to hire each night - these were fantastic and certainly fulfilled the 'romantic' idea we had of camping.Remember the Marshmallows, went down a treat!
There are 4 fields, so the kids got lots of space to run around and you didn't feel on top of the other campers.
The village has one pub, one post office, one butchers and a duck pond, all at the bottom the campsite track. The local beach Hunmanby Gap is 10 mins away and absolutely lovely to visit, although nothing there but a small cafe.
All in all a perfect camping experience (the weather did help to) a fantastic quirky site, which I would definitely return to along with some more fellow campers I am sure!

Visited this site for a weekend in April.
Pro's
- Pretty village location - quiet.
- As previous reviewers have mentioned, everything about this site is quirky, with various animals to amuse and on occasion, harass campers!
- Chuck wagon - although wasn't open when we were there great idea!
- Open fires allowed & equipment sold by owner - means you can sit outside for that bit longer
- Relaxed atmosphere - we had nice weather so just sat outside our vans having a drink & chatting
- Flat, landscaped pitches
- Things to do a short drive away - Bridlington, Flamborough etc
- Unmanned Honesty farm shop selling basics just outside the site
Cons
-We felt harassed by the owner's naughty dog who got in my van, stole one of my trainers & chewed it, and destroyed my windmill. We had to shoo him away & barricade our camp so he couldn't bother us any more. Also the turkeys wandering about, although fascinating to us, could be frightening to children
-not much to do within walking distance - our fellas went for a walk but couldn't find any footpaths or attractions.
-ramshackle feel won't appeal to everyone
-facilities OK, recycling encouraged, washing facilities slightly grubby but not filthy.
Has potential to be a really great site. Agree with other comments that owner could do with some help. We've said we wouldn't return only because it's not the sort of place we would go for anything more than a weekend, and it's a four hour drive from home which we've decided is too far to go again. Saying that it was a memorable weekend that we still talk about fondly, so I would say definitely go if you live within a couple of hours and you like to go to campsites that are not your typical generic holiday park! Don't be put off by the recycling lecture and notices saying don't steal - got the impression he's had a few disrespectful people camping there - can't blame him for setting ground rules!

We have visited Rob's site several times over the last couple of years.
You are only 7 miles from Bridlington, 9 miles from Scarborough and 33 miles from Whitby, which makes Rob's site a nice base for a long weekend or Monday to Friday break.
It's nice to see all the animals roaming around and George playing with the turkeys.
When it is a bank holiday weekend, Rob gets a special events licence and turns the chuck wagon into a bar at night.
You can purchase fire wood and loan the fire pits for a fire in the evening.
The toilets and showers are a bit basis but it such a nice location it makes up for it.
In the village there is a pub which serves meals if you do not want to cook and a small village shop.

Met up with friends at the camp site after I called them on my mobby for basic directions, found the place quite easily. Knowing my mates were only yards away I drove up the lane past the chickens and there they were, two folding trailer tents and a couple of tents. The weather was wet and the wind breakers helped to shelter us, 5 guys one lady and a ten yr old. The fire was more than a feature, great to watch as it glowed and spit. My friends had been there the day before and had visited the sea in Bridlington. George the Labrador was a great pal keeping us company and sharing our sausages, and when his master visited, he reminded us the breakfast times. It was my first night in a trailer tent, sheer luxury, we had a great chill out time, and will certainly be back. Lovely nearby pubs and resorts, great break fast too, many thanks.

Stayed here with a friend in her caravan with our kids for the weekend, which was great fun, with a stone circle in the tent field and a large tree with various rope swings in it.
There have already been a couple of very thorough reviews already given and as stated this is a quirky but very spacious site, with the entrance and initial part of the site looking like a reclamation yard, Rob the owner does take recycling to another level. However he works extremely hard and was spotted mopping toilets 9.30 at night, but most of his time is spent on the maintenance of the site.
Although as previously suggested the toilets seem to only get a quick lick of bleach, which is a shame because the silo's are very quaint and probably need a 'woman's touch' to give them a thorough clean and a bit of an update. There are five ladies loo's but only one shower with a dodgy shower head, 20p for 2 minutes.
We were also always chasing George the big daft black lab who was forever pinching the kids shoes as well as munching our dog's food! And got a visit from the turkey's and some chucks.
Rob is straight talking and he expects you to take recycling seriously, stating if you didn't you would find the offending articles stuffed back under your tent flap! However saying that he was also very laid back and pleasant and passed the time of day while he was on his busy rounds.
Again, just to reiterate what has already been said, this is a site for those wanting the quirky and odd, who are not bothered by cobwebbed toilets and dodgy showers, are happy to recycle and love to have camp fires in a relaxed atmosphere.

First visit to this site arrived on a Sunday, very easy to find.
Met Rob at the chuck wagon, given full brief about recycling which the wife and I are keen on anyway felt as if we where being spoken down to.
The recycling bins are quite confusing with instructions of not what to recycle and what to recycle written on the same bin.
Paid £10 a night without EHU very reasonable that's for tent and two, extra people £1.50 each a night, was offered EHU £5 a night extra.
The toilet and showers are quite basic and not of the high standard but this was not a problem.
Fire pits available, there's a chuck wagon for breakfast didn't try as wife packed half of Asda.
Arrived end of season so only three tents including ourselves, one of the groups left on the Sunday and the other people left on the Tuesday so it was quiet, especially as we do enjoy other peoples company.
George the dog is quite entertaining even though he likes to take things out of your tent, didn't mind as we took our two dogs.
Scarborough, Bridlington and Hummamby close by so had lots to do in the day time.
The weather was wet and windy but this is England.
The village was quiet with one pub very good but no take away I get fed up of beans and bacon.
We will definitely return next year when in season will also take grand daughter, should be more fun with more campers. Rob a very friendly and helpful fella.

My first ever camping trip was to this site in August B/H 2010 but also stayed late Sept 2010.
Had a fantastic time in August but had to cut our trip short in Sept due to very bad winds/rain.
First the good points - Quirky site with a just as quirky owner, he can be helpful & nice so take him as you find him. The site is in a lovely setting in a sleepy village which has a little shop & one pub. Fire pits are available in the evening at a cost of £5 per night. We loved having ours & it kept us lovely & warm. George the owners dog is VERY friendly but if you don't want him about then ignore him totally otherwise he will never leave you alone. Our dog is old & just ignored him but he loves to play & we didn't mind him, although he does steal so you need eye's in the back of your head!
Now the bad bits!
The toilets/shower blocks need a re-fit & the facilities are not clean & although I had one shower the thought of even putting my foot in it made me feel sick as it was so dirty! I kept my flip flops on. Also there are no where near enough toilets so at busy times you will have a rather long wait or invest in a good bucket lol!
The Cockerels will have you up at 4am (but it is a farm so not moaning) make sure you take ear plugs.
As we stayed on a B/H weekend there were lots of kids doing what kids do - make noise at 6am in the morning so try to pitch away from any big families.
All in all we will be going back for the April B/H 2011 so will update any changes for better or worse. If the toilet/shower blocks were sorted then I would give this site 9/10.

Just returned from 2 nights at the campsite and we would go back.
It was our first time camping at a smaller site and what an experience! The facilities were basic and we always found them clean, although not spotless.
Our first night was very windy and very very wet - wellies are a must! But Rob the owner came to see if we were ok and needed a hand and a friendly regular helped pitch the tent whilst I wrestled the umbrella off George the dog - who we quickly learnt to ignore if you didn't want the be chasing around the field to get your shoe/umbrella/teddy/whateveryouleftout back!
The children loved being able to wonder off and feed the animals. On the day that we were leaving - no specific time to leave 'just leave when you want'- I started the packing whilst my husband went to get breakfast form the Chuck Wagon which was well worth a visit.
On our second night we also had a campfire- the kids loved it and other than the cost of the fire (£5) and a pack of marshmellows a full evenings entertainment was provided!
We will most certainly visit again

Just returned from the site after a five night stay. Was sceptical after reading others comments but decided to go anyway. Arrived to be met by Rob and his recycling requirements. We told him we recycle at home so are more than happy to do so when away. Told 'they all say that!' Told not to steal firepit (as if we would) and reminded that we were being filmed (cctv) and that he was watching us.
The site is open and spacious, although we were asked to pitch very close to another tent. No need as no one else came. The toilets are basic, not a problem, we are used to this, but they were a little dirty. Mop bucket full of dirty water. Lots of instructions in here too, don't put things down loo, respect his home and campsite etc ( don't need to be told this!) There were lots of solarlights around, which looked lovely, but he had written 'don't even think about it' on them. There were 2 washing up sinks and only one fresh water supply (by sinks). The elsan didn't have a working water supply. He didn't open the chuck wagon in the evening when were were there but did each morning for breakfast. We had on last day, nice but he didin't speak a word to me whilst he cooked the food in front of me!
We decided that he was just very busy and perhaps too busy to keep on top of everything. We spent each day out and about only returning to sleep so didn't try firepits, looked good though. Lovely area
