Dodwell Park is a pleasant looking site with a decent little shop. The pitches are very tight, especially if you are on a back to back pitch. The toilets, although fairly clean, are very much in need of an overhaul. There is no drain for grey waste so you are sent to the Elsan and expected to lift your waste approximately 1.5 feet in the air to pour it down the Elsan. If your waste is full, this is very difficult to do. My wife tried to do it when I wasn't around and really struggled, fortunately a fellow camper was kind enough to assist her. There is a large field near the entrance of the site where children can play but it literally is just a rough field and has no facilities for them. The best thing about the site is it is well situated for visiting Stratford, although you wouldn't want to walk into the town as the road is very busy. There is a great pub for food and ales by the river in nearby Welford.

Adequate heated shower block, if a little dated, clean and warm with plenty of hot water and toilet paper. Two wash hand basins not in cubicles. Grassy, fairly level pitch with electric. Plenty of hot water for washing up and lots of decent sized waste bins. Quiet at night. Well located for visiting Warwick castle. No playground for children, but has a field nearby for football/games although we didn't use it.
An enjoyable stay, we were fortunate enough to have very good weather.

We were only booked into here for one night on our travels. The tents were booked so close to each other with as many crammed in as possible. As mentioned previously there seemed no rhyme or reason to how the pitches were booked out. Very small tents in between three large crammed out tents. Shop was well stocked and contained all the necessary ice, wine oh and food! We had a nice chat with the couple there who were friendly. Its really a shame because it could be a lovely site if planned better and not just trying to cram you in!

Stayed here for 2 nights. On arrival was directed to the pitch which the site manager told us was was level - it was far from level, to the extent it was possible to roll downhill while sleeping - I did!
Site very wet and muddy. Happy to put up with that as it had been raining but not the standard of toilets & showers which were not cleaned at all during our stay. Plumbing problems may have explained the pool on the gents toilet floor (plumber on site day 2).
Lack of hot water, no toilet paper, dirty sinks, showers - and numbers of which were inadequate for the packed site so close that cars had to be parked in front of pitches - too many campers for such a small site, closely packed. Shop open only during part of the day, reasonably stocked.

We booked a long weekend in June at Dodwell Park and booked over a month in advance. Nearer the time two other families decided to join us for our weekend and booked separately.
The facilities on site were adequate. The toilet block is a little outdated which was no problem. It was clean at all times. There was plenty of hot water. We did not use the shop even though it looked well stocked.
The location was a surprise as it was in a field surrounded by a large static caravan park. There are no local pubs/restaurants within easy walking distance.
We were called at 7pm Friday night to be informed we were not welcome at the site unless we could arrive before 9pm which was not possible. We had not been informed of this on booking and there is no mention on the website, we suggested this should be mention when people book in future. Eventually we persuaded them to allow us to sleep in our friends tent for the first night(we were still charged the full price).
Our friends asked to pitch next to each other as they had small children. Even though there was space, this was not allowed.
We were informed parties of 3 were not welcome together and if they had known they would not have accepted the booking (website quotes single sex parties of 3 or more not allowed).
As some of the pitches were different sizes, it would be advisable if they asked the tent size on booking. It seems the small tents were placed on the large pitches.

We have just spent 4 nights at Dodwell Park over the Whitsun weekend. We found the campsite to be ideally located for exploring Stratford, and the surrounding area including visits to Warwick Castle and Coughton Court. You can walk straight from the campsite to the Avon and into Stratford, which is very pleasant. The campsite was generally satisfactory for our needs - there was a reasonably well stocked shop and the toilet block is adequate. Although there is nowhere on the campsite for children to play, there is a field nearby which is great for games of football. For approximately twenty pounds a night this is very good value for a bank holiday. Our one criticism is that some of the pitches are too small, and we ended far too close to our neighbours' tents, and with no room to park our car on out pitch. Other pitches on the site seemed to be much larger, and it would seem to make more sense to reserve these for larger family tents. We would prefer to pay more for the pitch and have a bit more space.

We spent a long weekend at this site for the Whitsun holiday weekend - enhanced by lovely weather for a change! The site is relatively flat, and 2 miles from Stratford on Avon - it took us 40 minutes to walk to the town centre but you can ask at reception for a taxi to be called if you need one (bus stop outside but doesn't run on Sundays). There is loads to see and do in Stratford, and we were also in close proximity to Warwick (lovely castle to explore) and Leamington Spa (visit the Nature Reserve on outskirts for a smashing walk). There is nowhere near the campsite that you can walk to for a meal or drink however.
The site itself is well organised with a well run friendly shop which sold all the essentials you would need and wasn't overly expensive. This was open most of the time - and you can order papers for the next day too.
The toilet / shower block is fine - yes they are probably quite old - but the three showers in each are brand new power showers with nice cubicles and a curtain to stop everything getting wet - and plenty of hot water every time we used them! They were cleaned regularly too. There are only a couple of washbasins for the Ladies, and these aren't in cubicles - so it's showers only as a washing option really! Might want to take a baby bath if you've really young children as showers were lovely and powerful!
Dishwasher area was fine, again with plenty hot water. No children's play area and signs saying no ball games allowed - which isn't necessarily what you want if you have children in tow - but was great for us who don't! There were families on the site though so it obviously doesn't bother everyone, but as far as we were concerned it was a nice change not to have big groups of children playing on swings till after dark and first thing in the morning which we've experienced many times before! It just meant a nice calm relaxing air to the campsite prevailed!
The only slight grumble / observation I would make would be the closeness of the pitches! There were a lot of large family sized tents crammed in over the weekend - fine when you are in a group as lots of people seemed to be - but a bit close for comfort when you are a unit on your own like we were - and there was definitely not a 6 metre gap between units! We struggled to peg all of our guy lines out due to the closeness of the neighbours!
It would make more sense to ask the size of the tent unit when you book and allocate pitches accordingly - those at the back of the site were definitely larger than other pitches in the middle of the site - yet some of these had two man Quecha style pop up tents on them - while we had a Montana with an extension on a much smaller pitch! Alternatively why not reduce the number of pitches available slightly and increase the tariff to compensate - at £20 a night including electric we would gladly have paid a few pounds more for a bit more room. Luckily on this occasion none of our neighbours a) snored or b) had noisy discussions / kids / TVs / loud music!
So in summary, I would recommend this as a clean, comfortable site with easy access to Stratford and the surrounding towns, and reasonably priced too - just discuss the size of your tent when booking if you feel you might need plenty of room!

We have just spent a nice long weekend at Dodwell!
The site was a mixture of grass and hardstanding pitches and it was tidy!
The showers looked new although we did not use them. The toilet facilities are a little outdated, but were spotlessly clean which is the main thing.
There is a shop onsite that's open 7am until 10am each day-we did not manage to go in, but it looked well stocked from the outside.
It is situated 2 miles from Stratford and is an easy car journey away - but maybe a little too far to walk!
We would definitely return again!

We have just spent 4 relaxing nights at this site, using it as a base for the Cotswold's, Shakespeare country, and the National Space Centre at Leicester (50 minutes away).
The site was very easy to reach, being just off the main road (no cramped country lanes to negotiate!).
It is a small, very quiet and extremely tidy site. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The site is gently sloping, but wouldn't present any problems really.
The hardstanding pitches are a bit on the small side for a tourer & awning, but more than adequate for just a tourer, or a motorcaravan. The grass pitches appeared to be the standard size.
The on-site shop was well stocked with the essentials, and wasn't overpriced.
The shower / toilet block is not modern, but it was clean and perfectly functioning! I have used a lot worse! There was plenty of hot water for the showers, which did look fairly new.
There was also plenty of hot water for the washing up sinks.
The gravel roadways were substantial, and well maintained, with excellent drainage.
There is no playground, so little ones may get restless.
There is no-where within walking distance to eat, but Stratford is only 5 minutes away by car, and it has an abundance of bars, restaurants and pubs.
I would recommend a stay at this site as a base for visiting Stratford and the Cotswolds.

Just returned from a really enjoyable stay at Dodwell park.
Ok, we had fantastic weather, which I know helps, but after booking the site, we read a few negative reviews, so were quite apprehensive about the visit. However, on arriving, the couple that run it, were so friendly and helpful, we were pleasantly surprised. The site is fairly small, but we found that nice, it was quiet both nights, no noisy people anywhere!, the nearby road can be heard, but is pretty quiet during the night, busy in the day, but didn't spoil the stay at all.
Right, now having read all about the terrible toilet block, we found it really quite nice, yeah, a little outdated, but really not bad at all, very clean all the time, and the showers are fantastic, and pretty new! Everyone we met from the residential park was really friendly too, and didn't seem to be against the campsite at all. On the whole its a nice campsite, great location for Stratford, quiet, friendly and relaxing.
The walk to Luddington is worth it, not to far at all, but a beautiful village.
Will definitely return.
