My wife and I actually spent our honeymoon here back in 1983. We made a point of staying at the site at least once each year because it is a lovely area.
This is very much a hit and miss site regarding how much sleep you are likely to get. We have been kept awake by a large family of the socially ignorant until 3.30am before now. So it is pot luck on that score. Considering the enormous income generated from campers I would have expected more investment in updating the facilities as they are pretty tired. On my last visit. The one that caused me to vow never to return, A new cafe was pretty much built. But the toilet block was leaning toward the shabby side.
The camping fields are large so usually plenty of room to find a pitch.

Just returned from this great site have been using this site for the last 12 years now. Penny and Roger are great, it is a working farm so it is always busy. The toilet block and shower block are getting old and could do with renovating but it is useable, the site shop is handy if you run out of supplies. Our two son's thought it was great and made some new friends. Thanks to Penny again for a great week.

We visited this site last weekend and stayed for two nights. This site has four fields, we were in the top field which probably had the best views, but this was also probably the steepest of the slopes so spent most of the night wriggling back up the tent. We were really impressed when we first arrived as the tents were all around the edge of the fields so felt it was quite safe for the children to play in the middle without disturbing anyone but as the evening progressed it filled up and looked more like glastonbury with cars. The campsite had a sign up saying full but we saw mrs cooper still letting people on. The toilets and showers have seen better days, while I did use the toilets I wasn't brave enough to use the showers. They looked more suited for sheep dipping, maybe only out of season though. Someone did suggest the showers take 2p's instead of 10p's, but tempting as a bargain shower was I still gave it a miss. The washing up facilities were okay with plenty of hot water. It was nice having the sheep in the field. Edale is a lovely village with two great pubs, the nags head opposite the campsite entrance and the rambler further down does really nice food and has a great play area for children. The walks in the area are great and coopers campsite is a great base. For me I would only return if staying for one night unless they blew the existing shower block up and replaced it with a new clean one. After reading the other reviews was a bit worried about mr cooper but found him harmless enough, he was stood in the bins squashing down the rubbish. Thought he would have had a smile on his face though after the amount of tents he had allowed on.

Visited last weekend for the second time and I was pleased to see nothing had changed. What you see is what you get - the loos and showers look pretty dated but all work really well and are cleaned and re-stocked regularly. The site is at the start of the Penine Way and you can't beat the scenery. The weather had been diabolical, but the site was just about full on Saturday night as ever and the atmosphere was friendly and perfect for kids to run around. It is the perfect base for walkers like me and we will be there again next year for sure.

Just returned from Coopers with my missus and 2 kids, the reception was fine from Mrs Cooper after all the rules and regulations we were a bit dubious but we picked a great time for the weather, 4 days of glorious sunshine which made our stay much better. Mr Cooper seemed a bit frosty but if you actually talk to him he isnt that bad, he moaned a bit about cars on the field but as they had 6 days of constant rain you can understand it. The only critisms we had were the showers, they had hot water and were fairly clean but a few quid spent on them wouldnt go amiss. We were in the top field and this is a bit of a hill we found ourselves sliding down the tent all night. Dont leave your rubbish out because we had a badger visit us at 4 in the morning trying to eat the sausages we had left! The prices were good to we paid £12.50 a night for 4 people, 2 tents and a car, we had a great time and will be going back there in the future

Just returned from Coopers. This is the second visit to the site. This time with my boys aged 6 and 5. A bit of a frosty reception with grave warnings about noise before we even got onto the site and also about BBQ's. That said the site is in a great location and has good cafe/shop and pub serving food across road. The toilet block is very basic but well stocked with ample sinks, showers and toilets. Overall a good site if you can stand the reception.

We visited the site in the first week of July alongside our parents who were in a caravan and I have to say despite some pretty off reviews I enjoyed my stay at coopers farm, we were only there for 2 days before our tent gave way in 60mph winds one night! Mr Cooper although not the worlds greatest talker is pleasant and accomodating. The shower facilities are basic and a little old however clean and functional. The Nags Head is lovely and inviting with great food and beer! We will be back next year ( with a new tent!).

We stayed at Coopers last weekend ( June 07) and were a little worried after reading the reviews just before leaving. However, the campsite was rather big with three large fields with plenty of space. We managed to get our tent up after a few attempts and managed to sit down by 7pm to take in the beautiful views of Edale. The views were amazing and one of the best sites I have stayed at in location of the countryside and nature.
The shower block was basic but hot and clean, all you need. The toilets also very clean and always a supply of toilet paper. Within two minutes walking distance two country pubs were at hand. The site had a cafe serving breakfasts and a post office shop.
I was in a party of two with three dogs. A great place for walkers and an animal friendly place.
When we arrived we were greeted by Mrs Cooper who made it clear the campsite would not put up with noise after 10pm.this was fine for us as we wanted peace and relaxation.
The campsite was rather busy but everybody friendly and respectful of the rules apart from out campsite neighbors. They consisted of about five couples in their late 40's early 50's and a group of 18-19yr olds. The party had all booked singly but met up when on the campsite. ( COOPERS DO NOT TAKE BIG PARTY BOOKINGS) The young people made no noise and respected the farm rules. Sadly the older group did not and instead used the weekend to get rather drunk. They returned from the pub after 10pm and continued drinking outside. Their language was foul and basically they were still shouting, screaming, drinking and yelling until after 2am in the morning.
Mrs Cooper bravely tackled them and told them to be quiet or leave. Sadly, they continued and woke most of the field! The following morning Mr Cooper removed them from the site.
I have to say Mr and Mrs Cooper are two lovely people who keep to their word of providing a relaxed campsite. Yobs and party animals are not welcome and if either of these are you please do not spoil such a lovely place.
I will be returning again later this year and maybe next time I will be one of the braver people who complains straight away and clear out the trash who think they can spoil such a beautiful place.

Fantastic camp site , visited this site many times before and always had a marvelous time. Penny and Roger are extremely busy on the farm, this adds to the excitement and ambiance of this site. Facilities are basic but more than adequate, they are extremely clean. What more do you want when you are camping this adds to the fun.

I visited this site last year purely at the location was excellent for walks in and around the surrounding area. The site is also within walking distance of 2 pubs serving excellent food and real ale. As a result the site is very busy. The toilet and washing amenities whilst adequate then were in a poor state.
Sadly I return this year and despite a year on nothing has been spent on improve or upgrade its toilet and wash facilities.
Whilst I would reccommend the site for having everything needed for camping, there is now a newer camp sites nearby, which would may offer better facilities without compromising location.
